The Heather Graham voice-over was nominated. In terms of popular opinion across a number of game sites, EQ2 is not considered a 'good game'. I think that might have something to do with it not being listed. No one likes critics anyway. =P <div></div>

EQII got a bad Rap when it was released... Any game you have to play to level 20 to really get into is gonna have a hard time. It doesn't help that you need a kick [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] system for it run decently.... even then you still have to reboot every couple of hours... but man it's got that certain special something, when you get in a good group and are on a dungeon crawl it blows the competition away. <div></div>

well, probably because also, sony doesnt submit alot of its games to these lists, as oppoed to blizzard or a cupple other game companies that practically shove their games down your throat every chance they get(as evidenced by the fact that a certain cold, snow=storm like company that wont be named here is now on my spam list)

<DIV>I think EQ2 didnt pay them ad dollars, and/or not affiliated with their site. Its too bad games arent judged on the gameplay, graphics etc...</DIV>

<P>What happened to responsible accurate reporting? What happened to credibility? Seems to all have gone out the window, with the ad dollars......</P> <P>I think a new site should be developed that is specifically unbiased towards game reviews, thats just me though.</P>

<DIV>The conversation between soe and G4 might have gone somthing like this</DIV> <DIV>G4: hey! give us money and we'll give you awards</DIV> <DIV>SOE: no</DIV> <DIV>G4: %^##%@ you, we'll go nominate world of wankers for an award then *takes sack of money with dollar sign from blizzard executives*</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>G4 is the most biased and [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot]ty game network/website ever, they pretty much do awards for the people who pay them the most for adds.</DIV><p>Message Edited by The-Fourm-Pirate on <span class=date_text>07-21-2005</span> <span class=time_text>01:07 PM</span>

<DIV>As someone who has met professionally with many of the g4 anchors, been visited by their anchors, visited their studio on multiple occasions, and done commercial and appearance work for them before I can say I do not always agree with their opinions. But I doubt that they are paid off to promote things. They have promoted my company on multiple occasions with no money crossing hands. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I would rather point to the fact that with as much content to sift through as they have, sometimes games get lost, they cannot spend quality time with things, they have deadlines and a demanding audience. I on one occasion gave an overview of a very popular game to one of their anchors and 5 minutes later heard him repeat everything I said into a camera on live tv.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Where they get their opinions may be as simple as something like that, but I doubt its as complicated as a pay to air approach. Even if it was I know for a fact that such is at least not always the case.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<P>Unfortunately, as some the replies to this thread mention, money talks.  There are a lot of "ratings" that are based on how much money the "rated" give to the "raters".</P> <P>Before my fiance and I got into EQ2, we did the WoW open beta.  It was entertaining, but we only played for a week so I couldn't really give an accurate review of the game beyond "if you don't mind cartoony solo play, WoW is sorta fun".  From what I hear now, however, it is riddled with immature kids.  I think WoW is where gamers go to die... it's like Florida for old people.</P> <P>I don't think EQ2 will get the attention it deserves for a while... not with things like Station Exchange launching.  Though some players want the service, the gaming community at large... from my personal observation (and perhaps biased by my desire to keep the games about gaming) such things anger a lot of people in the industry.  I think people feel it threatens the nature of MMORPG gaming.  I would personally hate to see MMO's begin doing what many of the ISP's did when advertising took off on the Internet.</P> <P>I think part of the reason WoW gets more "airtime" in some of the media channels may very well be it's appeal to the younger kids.  Parents see cartoony and they think it's less violent, less dangerous.</P> <P>Just some thoughts.  :smileywink:</P>

<P>I like G4 Tech TV for alot of things.  One thing I did notice is the massive amount of PR WoW gets from special shows like Cheat, Judgement Day, etc....</P> <P>Now on the subject of Ad dollar spent.  I remember seeing TONS of EQ2 commericials at the release and not so many of WoW ads.  The only PR I was seeing from WoW was on their actual shows.</P> <P>Yes it sucks, but you know what?   This doesn't effect you or me that much.  So I'll watch Gphoria as entertainment and take it with a grain of salt.</P>

<DIV>Im just trying to figure out why g4 is peeing their pants about 'god of war'.  It okay but they seemed to have nominated it for every catagory.  Come on, original game?  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Paper mario nominated for rpg?  Its okay and has some good points but not really a great rpg game.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>G4 is mediocre and people like award thingies.  Mix them both and you get 'gphoria vote'</DIV>
