Fan Faire 2010 - where to eat?

If you're looking for the standard fast food types of places, there are some on the strip that don't cost an arm and a leg (as in it's the standard prices). If you go up the strip from Paris a block or two, you'll find a minimall with a McDonalds in it (and pass 2 7-11's along the way and a couple of pharmacies; good places to stock up on normal-costing drinks to avoid paying hotel/movie theater pricing). If you go the other way along the strip, there's a Subway and a BK and other similar fast food places in that irish themed casino I'm blanking the name of. A couple of years back, Tharkis and I (and a few others) found a small food court in Ceasars just where it meets the mall. Prices were reasonable there and the food was good. (I think it's the Cyprus Street Marketplace from what I can tell) And mom and I always try to go to the Carnegie Deli at the Mirage. Huge servings and fairly decent pricing. <p>If you don't mind a bit of pricey (re: $80-100 for two), my wife and I ate at Enoteca San Marco (one of Mario Batali's restaurants) at the Venetian on Saturday and I have to say it was PHENOMENAL! It's a bit of a walk down the strip from Bally's but not TOO insane. The atmosphere and entertainment at the Venetian is one-of-a-kind and enjoyable as well. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

<p>One of the best fast food (read: cheap) places I've found is <a href="http://www.earlofsandwichusa.com/contact/locator.php" target="_blank">Earl of Sandwich</a>, which is in Planet Hollywood on the strip.  (I never tried it in Vegas, but having had it in Disney and in other areas of Central Florida, they are really, really good, and the sandwiches are around $6 apiece.)</p>

<p>Being as I visit Vegas about twice a year, I thought I should mention the best deal that I found if you like prime rib as much as I do anyways  is in a cafe called Magnolias in the 4 queens downtown. for 9 bucks you get the prime rib, choice of vegi and a salad for 9 bucks. <img src="/station/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" /></p><p>Its worth the drive, especially if you get tired of the crowds on the strip, downtown is still an awesome place to hang out... and if you havn't been downtown before, I suggest going in the evening, they have a huge canopy down fremont street that displays high def videos... its incredible, and a must see as its free. they run every hour on the hour from dark till around 1am I think.</p><p>Heres the link if  its something you might be interested in.</p><p><a href="http://www.vegasexperience.com/">http://www.vegasexperience.com/</a></p><p>take care</p><p>-Rok</p>

<p>This year my girlfriend and I are going to go the cheap route lol We are bringing the little individual boxes of cereal for breakfast and a bunch of little snack stuff to keep us from starving during the day. We are going to head to the Paris for <a href="http://www.parislasvegas.com/casinos/paris-las-vegas/restaurants-dining/la-creperie-detail.html" target="_blank">crepes</a> prob Friday and Saturday for lunch.</p><p>Also on a side note, will be bringing a blender to mix some drinks in the hotel room rather then spending $8 for a margarita <img src="/station/images/smilies/385970365b8ed7503b4294502a458efa.gif" border="0" /> in the casino. Also there is a nice little dive bar maybe a 5 min walk from the north tower doors. Last year I did the buckets of bottled beer from the casino only to later find out about this bar. Oh yeah its also a little mini mart. I picked up 2 cases of beers for what I would pay for 10 bottles at the casino. So hopefully this will help save some money.</p>

I've lived here for 7.5 years and I didn't not know about the Buffet of Buffet thing. We tend to avoid the strip because the insane traffic.I also found out that there is a package you can get at the Harrah's group hotels, which also includes Ballys that includes 2 buffet passes in the cost. But you would not get the special sony rates. However, there are many hotels in that group and many have better prices and some are accessible by the monorail straight to Ballys. This might be of use if someone wanted to stay and there were no more rooms available at the special price or if you just want to stay elsewhere.</p>

Not the strip but much quieter area, close to the nature areas, tons of restaurants and shoping and close to home. hahahahaha</p></blockquote><p>The first fan faire I went to was when it was held at the Rio, I stayed at an Residance Inn, about 15mins from the Rio, for the free breakfest and internet, as I was going to get a car anyway, and I have to say I'll NEVER do that again. If you can afford to stay in the event hotel instead of comuting from home I would recomend it. Because otherwise you may end up carrying around a Swag Bag all day, and such. Though if you don't plan on attending everything going on at fan faire then and only will arive in the afternoon when most of the 'game' panels are held, then go ahead and comute. Just be aware there is a good chance of staying up until 1 or 2am at the event, then having to walk to your car, and drive home, then getting up early the next morning to do it again.</p><p>::EDIT::back on topic, I highly recomend JJ's Boulangerie in the path between paris and bally's it is about 15mins round trip(including eating) and very resonably priced. Cal, that is the place I showed your cleric.</p>
