Petition - Fan Faire '09 in New York City

<p>I'm sure that this will be an effort in vain, given our previous record of getting things changed, but it's an idea that I hope will go through to the executives. This may be a little early, but it's better than being late. I will be posting this on all SOE game forums to see the reaction.</p><hr /><p>Whoever at SOE is Concerned: </p><p>The Undersigned agree with the following statements;</p><p>Fan Faire '09 should be held in New York City, New York because it is the prime location to have fans gather. There are hundreds of fans to be tallied up that live inside the New York City area, never mind how many people who would be willing to go to New York City from other areas of the country.</p><p>New York City is a much better place to hold Fan Faire '09 than Las Vegas because New York City has endless opportunities, for personal enjoyment, family enjoyment, and there are always things to do. Between people who would just like to go around and see the historical architecture of The Big Apple and people who want to stay up all night in one of the raunchier clubs, there is something for everybody.</p><p>While it may be costlier to rent out an area in The City, there will definitely be more people attending. The Undersigned are all people who are willing to go to New York City; not everybody is willing to go to Vegas for the same event. While Vegas is more based around Adult Entertainment and Gambling, New York City has something for, again, everyone.</p><p>Thanks,The Undersigned</p>

Being from NYC....A Fan Faire in NYC would be EXPENSIVE!!!!And there really isn't much to do unless you ARE into the club scene, which most are not.Not to mention the subway system sucks, cabs are expensive, and there really isn't an affordable place for them to hold a convention of FF size.Plus, at least in Vegas at 3 AM I can wander down to the casino, plunk a few dollars in a slot machine, have a few drinks and wander back up to my room all without being bothered by anyone, nor leaving the hotel. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

I have to agree with the poster above. I am from NYC as well and a Fan Faire here would be ridicuoulsy expensive. I find it hard to believe anyone who has ever been here would even suggest such a thing. Can you even suggest any venues that would accomodate a Fan FAire type function for less than 200 bucks a night? andevene 200 bucks is cheap for NYC. With the foreign tourists who are flodding this city hotel space is at a premium

Besides there accually is alot people under 21 can do in Vegas... assumeing you would have time for things other then FF... I know I didn't.</p><p>Oh and just to be clear. NYC is just about the worst place to hold an event like this... why do you think that NO ONE holds major conventions in NYC. Heck other then The Ball Drop and the Tony's, both of wich HAVE to take place in NYC(one one Times Square and Broadway), I can't think of a single major event to take place in NYC... Heck do they even have convention space for the type of Convention FF is?</p>

Heck, Gaming and Comic news outlets don't even go to the Comicons outside the SD one.</p>
