Wireless Connection???

Are we going to have Wireless Connection that we can Access our Laptop In at the Fan Faire Areas???

As it's in the Hilton I imagine they have a private Wi-Fi network for those staying at the hotel itself.  As such I'd imagine the only ones who will have Wi-Fi access, if they're toting their laptops around the convention with them (having been to Fan Faires I can tell you you shouldn't be) will be those staying at the Hilton.  I highly doubt the hotel maintains an open access network for non-patrons.  Then again, maybe SOE can convince them to open it up for the weekend, but I doubt it.

<p>I stayed at a Hilton a few weeks ago (and with every one that I have stayed at) they make you purchase the Internet. If it is available wirelessly in your room, there will be a screen (and instructions in the room booklet) that will tell you how to purchase it. It will be automatically charged to your room's bill. It's also the same thing for a wired connection. </p><p>I think they do have a few hotspots throughout the hotel, but they're not into giving things away for free there haha <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

I work for a company (Sierra Wireless) that makes cellular data devices.  Last year I brought one of them with me and probably will this year again (I'm going to try to convince them it's a great way to show them off to people who might not otherwise see them *impish grin*).

I suppose it varies from hotel to hotel, but that was the  price in Niagara Falls, Canada and in Orlando, Florida. I don't think people will have time to "work their laptops" during the events, anyway.

haha. Hotels usually have free hotspots set up about the lobby and common areas. I don't think people will have to worry about getting it there, it's just in the rooms that there might be a problem - or a charge.

<p>I suppose it all depends on where you will be staying.</p><p>In my experience, wireless internet has been free. It is probably what the less fancy hotel/motel chains advertise do to draw in travelers.</p><p>The bigger and fancier hotels may throw in a charge because they feel that if you can afford a $100/$200 a night room, you can afford their internet charge.</p><p>I stay in cheap places.</p>

I think it should be the other way around! One time, they didn't even have wireless in the room (but there was a desk), so I had to get an ethernet cable. Well, they did give me <i>that</i> for free.
