View Full Version : Disappointed by conflicting events last year

The 2007 Fan Faire (which was my first) had several events occuring at the same time that I wished I could have gone to.As an EQ1 player, I wanted to attend all of the developer discussions and the Live Quest. Unfortunately, two of the key developer talks were at the same time as the Live Quest. There were only like 3 events I wanted to attend, and they were at the same time. That was very disappointing. Also, forcing people to get tickets to the game preview demos, but not allowing people to go with their friends by putting specific random times on the tickets, was bogus. I attended with 9 of my guildmates, and we all ended up with tickets to different times, which put the kibosh on it because I want to attend events with my friends. So, please try to schedule events so there are no conflicts (per game; I understand there just isn't enough time to have zero conflicts for all events), and so that people can attend with their friends.

IIRC while there were Dev talks during the EQ1 Live Quest, they were not EQ Dev Talks. One was a LoN talk and the other was a "Breaking into the Industry" type talk. (along with Vanguard, EQII and talks for the other games) Oh and there were CSR talks too at that time too.

Personally Id have to agree with Kalth here. During the Atlanta Fan Faire, myself and 8 guildmates spent most of saturday attending dev talks yet were still able to attend the Live quest without a major conflict of schedules.

However at Vegas, with now 20 guildmates moving around, doing the live quest itself was hard enough cause we were automatically split up (not complaining about that tho). What truly disappointed me was the lack of Dev Talks. After reading the schedule upon registering, we quickly decided on what we'd be attending. Its extremely sad to know that we spent so much money and yet only attended 3 listed events - The Battle of the Best, The EQ1 Live quest and the Closing Banquet. The only 2 other things we did attend were the Voodoo Lounge party and the Pool Party. I had planned for months on what questions to ask the EQ devs in regards to class spefications, spells, and items. and was shattered to find out now i couldnt do that at the last moment.

I realize SOE is a company and as such will do anything and everything to build sells for other games and products. But DONT forget why we folks are paying for the game we play now and for the ability to come to these conventions in the first place.
