In podcast #30 Amy gave a promise that the Fane Faire Countdown would make a return in Podcast #31.

Now I have nto had the chance to listen to Podcast #31 but I am going to take a guess based on the lack of any other information on these forums that Amy has broken her promise and we still do not have a location and date for Fan Faire 2008.

Am I correct in stating this?

Should is not a Promise it's a statment of hope. Oviously something happened either in the contract negociations or in the desition making process that delayed the signing of the Contract to host Fan Faire and as they can't make an anouncement befor the contract is signed, there is nothing they can do about the delay.

Well if they did not promise it they sure wanted it to sound like we were going to hear news soon. They need to be very caefulr about getting peoples expectations up. If they did not know for a fact they could make an ancoument in the next podcast then they never should have said a thing about it. They said it. People had an expectation and they have not lived up to that expectation.

Just like Duke Nukem Forever is comming out soon(tm) and anything by Blizzard is comming out soon(tm).

I was hoping to hear it in this podcast as well, Leko, but then again, delays unfortunately do happen. I don't think you should be so harsh about it.

My posting is not about me hoping to hear when and where the Fan Faire is.

Granted I do care about that information but it was not the motivating factor here. SOE has given a lot of lip service of late to the concern for the community around their games but when it comes down to any real tangable evidence to this concern you can find very little. The statement that we the community will here about the Fan Faire dates by the next podcast and then not fulfilling on that statement is just another symptom of the real problem here which is they really do not care about the community as a whole. They only want to hear from the shiny happy people that droll over them and hand out praise for their games.

If they cared and really had their act togther SOE would have dates and locations for the next Five Fan Faires. Trust me this is not hard to do. I know from first hand experience what it takes to plan a large event like a Fan Faire and do not even try to tell me that SOE has a larger bureaucratic process then the company I work for because they do not and do not tell me that planning events is not what SOE does and so it is harder for them. Again the company I work for has its hands in almosy every form of Entertainment you can think of and we manage to fiqure out how to plan somehting and manage the expectations of our clients every time.

SOE needs to step up its customer service or stop saying they care about their customers. The time has come to stop talking about customer service. It is time to provide it.

We had hoped to announce honestly we did but there was a snag in the contract so unfortunately we are not able to announce anything until the contract is signed. That's how it works, I think you would be even more upset if we made the announcement before the contract was signed and you made your air travel arrangements and then had to change those because of a contract snag. Instead we wait until things are final before making you aware so we don't waste your time and money.

We can't foresee when a snag will happen and we apologize for getting everyone's hopes up. We did not promise to bring the count down back we said we hoped to bring it back at that time.

Ashlanne, Can we get a projected time line for information on the event. Looking at this from a purley customer service point of view your customers need information if you want your customers to attend your event. The longer you wait the less time your customers have to plan and arrange to attend your customer driven event. I know that you have to deal with the leagal team and everything that goes on in the contract world but you need to give your customers something in the way of information. Sharing information with the customer base is one way of showing you care about the customers. Things you could do to share: 1. Give updates on the current status of the contract. i.e the contract is with X Dept and needs to be signed. 2. We ave placed calls with X locations and convention halls and are waiting for calls back. 3. We ave quotes form the vanues and are reviewing them. Anyone of those will let the community know the event is being worked on but does not give dates or locations. Lets try and get some informative content out to the game comunity and stop with the fluff. I know it seems I am harping on you a lot latley but I work for one of the best customer service companies in the world and I know how great customer service should look and right now SOE is not presenting its best customer service. Please try just a little bit harder.

I would rather SOE took their time with getting it right so that when people like myself who will be booking flights from the United Kingdom, wont be left short changed if they changed the location. Plane tickets are non refundable.

Jesus someone lock this thread. All the crying and whining is not going to get the info out any sooner. SOE please don't announce anything until it is official or you are going to get a bunch of people crying about plans that have to be changed because you announced things too early. Ashlanne if you don't answer posts like this one I am sure the vast majority of people here will understand you have better things to do.

Yes very expensive. BUT it needed to be booked. 1 week later, the prices went down to £400. So to be honest I know what it feels like to get a 'decent price'.Just relax.
