View Full Version : Vegas All the Time Everytime...

This game convention should be held in the town best known for games. There's tons to do in Vegas and I think the last one in Aug was a blast even if I think SoE is involved in a conspiracy to get attendees hammered. Pool party mixed drinks were the devil. Vegas Fan Faires are the best even if nobody can dress up.

honestly I loved the one in Atlanta... it was clean... and the access for some of my guild mates who are handicapped was much easier. The Vegas is dirty and for those wanting to bring their children it was difficult. Food was expensive, so we made food at an off site time share...but ya all agreed .. if sony has it again in vegas we would prefer to meet alone as a guild... we even thought Colorado would be nice.. would really love a trip there. Or Washington state, since that's a new up and coming techy place and very wide range of things to do there. will check back to see what was decided.hugs,Moisellemistmoore server

I'm not sure I agree with the 'dirty' statement because I lived in NYC about six continuous summers but I agree that Vegas isn't really were you take the kids.

I have lived here in Vegas now since I left the Marines in 1990. Met a very nice nurse and somehow married her. We have two boys. One is 10 and the other is 12. We do not find Vegas to be dirty in the least. In fact, per capita - we have more churches and parks than any other major city. We are constantly out visiting our parks systems and are totally amazed that every 2 months there is a brand new park to visit. You said food was expensive. I have to -again - totally disagree with you on this. MANY times it is FAR more economic to go out to dine than it is to stay home and cook. But then, i suppose that it is because we live here and know where to go for good food etc. No one in my family gambles. In fact, few of the people I know here gamble. I am thinking that your initial view of Vegas was based soley on a limited exposure trip to Vegas you had along the resort corrider. That's ok - truth be told - we don't go there either except for special events. Things like the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay - inexpensive exposure to some awesome aquariums. Thre is the Secret Garden at the Mirage - they have dolphins, elephants, tigers etc. Full exposure to endangered animals that my kids could nto get elsewhere. Sadly, they (the Balagio, I think) recently shut down the Gugenheim museum here. My kids visited several very famous works of art at that hotel. My kids love the AdventureDome - a sort of mini-amusement park located at Circus Circuse - complete with rides, midway games etc. The most amazing thing about all of these kid-friendly places is that the resorts make deals with the state and local governments to provide discounted rates etc. for area kids. So they get in pretty cheap. What's more amazing is the fact that - for out-of-towners - the rates are FAR below what you pay anywhere else!

In short, I want to apologize to you that you did not have the experience you should have had. Food is very inexpensive here if you know where to look. There are hundreds of things for kids to do - if you know where to look. There are incredible hotel deals throughout the city - if you get them at the right time and at the right place. Where else in this country can you get top notch hotel rooms for $25 a night? Complete HUGE Prime Rib dinners for $15? Hell, on Wednesdays here you can eat at one of my favorites - Soup or Salad - for $4.99 (being diabetic, this is a favorite). We have all the fast foods you find elsewhere - and at fair rates - unless your along the Strip. Amazingly, BK burgers seem to increase in price by about 40% just because they are there. GET OFF THE STRIP - SEE LAS VEGAS.

I saw you mention having a guild get-together and palced a few locations. I will not downplay those places. But let me offer this - Las Vegas has more convention space than anywhere. You can set up your party here in town at any number of hotels and get some awesome rates etc. The hotels LOVE it when you bring in a lot of folks and will give you some very nice discounts for setting up something with them. Catering prices here just cant be beat.

Give Vegas another shot.
