I have to agree. They did a great job on the varied events. I was not able to participate in all of them but the ones I did participate in were done well. This was going to be my last fan faire but I might be back next year

Well, I did some talking to the people at the Hilton. They said they would love to have us back there again. The hotel manager was very disappointed we did not return there this year. He said they enjoyed having us there the last time.

I also got some feedback from the people who attended this year. I am writing a "report" about it and hopefully someone at SOE will be kindly enough to want some of the opinions I found out that did not have a chance to fill out the forms.

As someone who was at the Hilton and the Rio, I think both hotels were good, but IMO, the Rio's dinner left a LOT to be desired. The HIlton's dinner seemed more organized and the food seemed better in general. Otherwise, I guess I enjoyed both hotel's and wouldn't mind going back to either of them. (The Hilton may be a better choice though because it felt a bit more 'compact' and easier to get around; but that may just be 2 year old memories talking)

I have to agree about the dinner...hamburgers and hot dogs is the best they can do in Vegas??!!

ESPECIALLY for a Hotel that is known for having not one, but TWO well known all you can eat buffets? Very disappointing. (Plus the servers didn't seem to do much for making the rounds. I ended up with 1 glass of water the entire dinner. Didn't even see a server at my end of the hall towards the end.)

I'd like it to be at the Hilton next year since it's on the strip and I heard so much about how that hotel was awesome and the Rio sucked. I know the Uberguilds guys would be very thankful if you had it in Vegas at the Hilton next year Either way it's a freaking blast and I cant wait for next year!

Although my guildmates and I had fun, there were quite a few disappointments with the Fan Faire. - Many, many of the events started late. The live quest for EQ1 was over 30 minutes late to start. Making people stand outside the banquet hall packed like sardines was also frustrating. - The survey line was ridiculously long. - The passes for the game previews had times written on them, often preventing me from going with my friends. - Tables for EQ guilds were way in the back of the banquet. - "Players of the year" for other games, but not for EQ1. - August in Las Vegas. No explanation needed. - Badges were hard to read. - Three of the events I wanted to attend all took place at the same time. It would be nice if events were more spread out. - Details ahead of time. The schedule of events wasn't posted until like the day before we left. No details about what events had open bar or provided food and which didn't (Pool party = open bar with no food, Voodoo = very very overpriced bar with some free food). I didn't see any info about needing arm bands for events; we just happened to see people getting them. Some people have praised the organization of the events; I and others in my guild were unhappy about some things. Not to say we didn't enjoy ourselves at the Faire; we did. There were just many things that could have been handled better. I understand many things were done by volunteers, which allows SOE to get more events in overall, but perhaps a little more oversight on the process next time?

How could I have forgotten the badges? At the very least next time, make the NAMES a couple points bigger and bolded so you can read them while walking and not need to get 1ft away to see them. And yeah the banquet organization was a bit off; EQ guilds put in behind the EQII tables didn't seem right. It would be nice if the Guilds could have been placed in the same general area as their server. (I noticed Township Rebellion swapped table signs with the Luclin tables just to get closer)

Here's a comparison between the 2007 and 2005 namebadges. IMO 2005's were MUCH better.

My main complaint was the distance I needed to travel from my room to get to the convention area. That's not really SOE's fault. It's a combination of my weight and the design of the hotel.

I could have toughed it out as there were plenty of benches for me to rest on along the way, but unfortunately I was also beset with some gastro-intestinal distress that weekend and needed to be in proximity to a rest room. The one trip I made to the convention area on Friday afternoon left me searching for a rest room after about an hour and I had to go all the way back to the Casino area to find one. I did not return.

Also I find that as I get older, my tolerance for crowded bars with loud music is diminishing. About 15 minutes at the Voo-Doo was all I could stand. I did not attend the pool party, but I could hear it in my 18th floor room.

I did like the swag bag and the flashy bouncy ball was a kick. Except for the people in the room just above us who spent at least 3 hours Saturday afternoon banging that ball on the floor of their room every 30 seconds. Thump!..... Thump!.... Thump!... ad nauseum. It finally ended when they left for the banquet.

Regarding the "banquet". Sounds like I didn't miss much by not attending. Hamburgers and Hot Dogs?!!!!

Sweetpea and I ordered Room Service and watched some movies in celebration of my 54th birthday.

This is all not to say I didn't have a good time in Vegas. I did. But it just had little to do with Fan Faire. Sweetpea and I celebrated out 10th wedding anniversary on the 2nd. My birthday on the 4th. We ate some great meals. Had a lot of fun gambling even though we lost about $600 all together. On Sunday night we saw Tony 'n' Tina's Wedding. That was a hoot and the meal was fantastic.

Trouble finding bathrooms? There was a pair just outside the Great Hall area, and another outside the biggest meeting room (or thereabouts). Didn't seem difficult to find. Anyways gratz on your anniversary. And who knows how things will go in a year hehe.
