Heres an Idea so things don't get hacked into or screwed up. Why not at the 2007 fan fair when you register the first time you are given choices of where the 2008 fan fair should be for next year and vote at the fan fair. That way SOE will just has to pick out the date and be way ahead of scheldule.

That would be unfair to those who don't attend in 2007 but may want to go in 2008.

For example: I would prefer to have EVERY Fain Faire in Vegas. In fact I will probably not attend any FF that is not in Vegas. So if voting for the next FF takes place AT the FF, how am I ever going to get the chance to vote for Vegas if the FF is not in Vegas?

Atleast we would know the vote is being made by a majority of people who do attend even if its only for that year. I think thats fair.

WOW, STILL NO NEWS ON WHEN THE FAN FAIR IS ITS LIKE 3 MONTHS FROM WHEN THE POLL ENDED. IS THIS REALLY SOE SONY'S WEBSITE OR A FAN NEWBI TRYING TO RUN A WEB SITE BECAUSE I WOULD ASSUME SOE SONY WOULD HAVE A LOT MORE MONEY AND TECHS AT THERE DISPOSAL TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM ALOT FASTER.

Nope. Not fair.

If only attendees get to vote on where the next faire is going to be, that allows a small percentage of the players to control the location.

Another example: Suppose the FF is in Vegas next year. And suppose the majority of people who go to Vegas are like me and ALWAYS want the FF to be in Vegas. Then the FF would ALWAYS be in Vegas and would NEVER be anyplace else.

Now as much as I like that idea, I hardly think that would be fair to people who don't want to go to Vegas.

I guess you do have a point where ever the first fan fair would be at it would most likely stay in that area or the same spot for that matter since most people that would go to it would be from that area. Maybe have people mail in there vote along with a user key from a game each user key gives you a vote.

LOL do you think sony is gonna pay ppl to open our letters and confirm our accounts and manually tabulate our votes, for however long they take to get there? They are so cheap they have a cheap forum that cant even hold a secure poll. And have only one forum moderator attending it in her spair time. And thats no attack on ashlane but seriously do you think SOE really cares that much given what we have gotten so far? Who do you think pays for FF? We do! 3k ppl at over 100 bucks per person, i dont pretend to know how much one of those lobbys in a hotel costs to rent but 300k+ has got to cover it and then some. So be honest its something that we pay for and they just do for fun (and we might do on our own anyway) YOU and ME are the only ones that care about it or else this would have been taken care of a long time ago.

Most of the people who attend Fan Faire live within 100 miles of the location. That is a fact. Allowing only those who attend to vote would not be a fair system.

Additionally, we rarely make a profit on Fan Faire. I have always loved how people over simplify the math to attempt to justify their position. A lot more money goes out than just the Ballroom rental. =)

As for why we have not had any movement on the announcement of the next Fan Faire? We are actually considering changing the date. Why you ask? Well honestly I cannot tell you yet, but if everything falls into place, it will be well worth the wait.

Well i hope that you know how much i love that you missed my point that because it doesnt make any money there is no rush to pick a location or give us any kind of meaningful information =D You guys might be changing the date? Don't you need a location to choose a date? I dont want to battle with you guys but its been a long time since the first poll. I know myself and im sure the many others on here that check this forum probably daily have invested a lot of time drumming up support for votes and getting people interested only to offer them nothing, no information of any type of progress, just nuthin. Its old and sad and depressing now =(

Well the wife and I will be to the next Fan Faire no matter where it is. Now we are excited about the prospect of a new time and perhaps location. True that Vegas is within driving distance for us but the SOE people work so hard to make the event a wonderful one for all of us we would not miss it!

P.S. psssst Brenlo....the wife still plans on bringing you that monogrammed tee shirt.

My guess is that they are close to getting Lucas Arts in on the fan faire, what do you guys think?

So Brenlo you are saying that most of the Las Vegas antendees live within 100 miles of Las Vegas, even though Vegas itself is surrounded by desert? So all of those people who flew to Las Vegas live that close? I just wish you all would get on with chosing a date and location...I was suppose to have my 2007 vacation picks in by Oct 1. Sure I can turn them in by Dec 31 but I may not be able to get the dates I want... If you can't tell us where, and you can't tell us when can you at least give us tell us wether you can get us this information before the end of the year??? Thanks

If the Bixiebopper says they're considering changing the dates, then they're probably trying to match it up with a major release or announcement. The eighth anniversary of EQ1 is coming up in March, but that was already one of the months under consideration, so I doubt if that's it. It's likely that an expansion for either EQ1 or EQ2 would be announced around that time, but is that big enough to move a Fan Faire? I don't know. What do other people think?

We aren't trying to leave you out in the cold. Something awesome is in the works but we can't announce anything until the details have been worked out. We know you need to plan your vacations and we apologize for the delay on that, however I think you will be extremely pleased with the news when we are able to announce.

I heard that FF is gonna be totally online so that everyone can go and it will be free! If you send them 20 bucks they will send you a T-shirt and some coupons for nachos at taco bell.

Boy, I hope it's better than the awesome job at the Atlanta Fan Faire - from the PoR box artwork on the t-shirts to the Dev's not seeming to even know that TSS was being released this year, a truly lame Fan Faire (and yes, I've been to three so I can compare). Back to Vegas!!!
I've not been to any other FF's, but Atlanta was great fun. Even if I never go to any other FF (which it'd take wild horses to keep me away from, and even then...), I'll always look back on Atlanta FF as being an absolute blast. Why I'm looking forward to the next one.
