<p>Hello Everyone,</p><p>The Poll has been running for almost 3 whole weeks. Since Orlando, Denver and Las Vegas are dominating the vote we decided to run a new poll with just those 3 cities for the next 2 weeks. The poll will shut down on August 25th.</p><p>Thank you for your assistance in the other poll we hope that you will be of further assistance and vote in this poll so we can pick a final destination for the 2007 Fan Faire!</p>

Sooo hard to choose!!! i like all three of those cities. Lived in two of them. But one of the dates is the b-day of a good friend who will possiably be going to FF also. So there goes my vote too.

I would like to see Orlando win. If I could make it out to Vegas I would say no problem, but having a new baby would make going to Vegas a bit far. But from the looks of it I won't be going. <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Teyener, that is because we Denver folks would really like to see one out here. Every year it seems it mostly goes to Vegas and I'm voting for my hometown for a little change of scenery. I know about 15 peeps out here who play EQ and contacted all of them to go vote, and for them to get anyone else to vote for Denver as well. It's that simple.

Vote Vegas ! Why you ask. Because The most people can afford to fly to vegas , Ever look up flights to denver? Best room rates Vegas ... Denver BAH.... I my self think Most people can afford Vegas Flight rates , room rates ... Vegas was built for Tourist.... thus many more from guilds all over the states have a better chance to make it there than any where else. I feel that everyone reallly wants the biggest turn out to meet and party with as many peeps as possible , Vegas seems the better choice for that.

<p>I had to vote for Denver for a couple reasons..</p><p>1) Have been to two FF in Vegas, yes had a blast both time but would like to go somewhere new. Also went to the one in New Orleans and Atlanta. If FF wasnt in New Orleans or Atlanta I would have never gone to either places. Was an experiance to go to both places and see how great they both are. Since those two places were great figured experiance Denver would be great also</p><p>2) Orlando trip will cost me an arm and a leg since I'm on the west coast and Denver isn't to far.</p>

Crying gloom and doom about SOE being on the hook when someone gets offed at the FF2006. The fanfaire went off perfectly and I didn't hear of any crimes committed against the attendees.</p><p>If you want Denver to win then vote for them and try to refrain from taking potshots at the other cities. My wife has an account and so does his wife, so that would be 3 players with legitimate accounts that couldn't vote. Actually my wife and I honeymooned in Orlando last March and the weather was wonderful. Low humidity, warm days and the nights were cool, but shorts were OK. I can understand being worried about being snowed in or out, especially in Denver. I live somewhere where it could stil snow in March as well so Denver for me would be a double chance I probably will not take. I don't want to lose my money on plane fare for a trip that gets snowed out, and I surely don't want to have to call my boss and tell him I am snowed in in Denver... I will go to Orlando if they happen to win, but Las Vegas is my choice. There is something to do for everyone plus the weather is great, and it save us at least $500 in plane fare savings and less expensive hotels...
<p>I had to miss the last Fan Faire because it was on the east coast, not that that is bad, it's not, I really would have liked to see Atlanta, never been there, but I live in California, and between the airfare, hotel, FF Ticket, and car rental, would have cost me like $1000...</p><p> I can afford to drive to Las Vegas though so I am hoping it is there, we had lots of fun the last couple times they had it there <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>Wait... how much is gas again? haha :p</p><p> Sqigmond da Troll</p>

Vegas Baby!
<p>Just my 2cp worth on my first post to the forums....</p><p> Being a native of Colorado - the March dates will not be the warmest, but also not the coldest. We usually get our heavy snowfalls that time of year.... More of a cultural exploration during the day (museums, zoos, tours) all within walking distance or "free" transportation from downtown. At night, well.. nightlife...bars/dance clubs, sport venues, theater, movies, bowling, etc...all within walking distance of dowtown...chance of being snowed in is slim to nill...the snows are heavy in March but the streets are always dry the next day...the only disadvantage I see is the trip from the airport to downtown...some what of a distance...</p><p> I'm extremely excited for Vegas. Always a fun town! Never been to Orlando, but with spring break..yeah...could be loads of fun to! I agree we should look into the northeast, a trip to Salem would be fun! </p><p>voted for Denver, rooting for Vegas and curiously interested for Orlando...all in all.. hope to meet you soon!</p><p>Dev</p>

I vote Orlando. There is so much stuff to do in Orlando it's not funny. Ignore the guy giving crime statistics. Universal Studios his killer parks. Disney has nice parks and nightlife. There is free beer at Sea World too (AB owns it so they have a beer garden there) it appears SOE doesn't own the rights to Fan Faire Europe so they have nothing to do with holding one there Heavy snow in Denver in March...Sure the streets of Denver may be cleared, but Snow storms don't say Lets snow on Denver...they are usually regional, so if Denver gets a big snow, theres a good chance that several cities east of there would too...SO peole might not be able to get TO Denver..I do't know about you, but I don't want to spend nearly $800 for 2 plane tickets and not be able to get there...

Orlando is not that expensive lol, seems like some have a lot of preconceptions about orlando. Also the humidity is nothing really, there's a heatwave everywhere almost anyways. I'm in Tampa and the heat/humidity is'nt bad at all here. Orlando would be the only location i would attend.

Orlando is a lot more expensive when you figure a week in orlando is going to cost at least 500$ more than a week in vegas just for the hotell alone. For people vacationing on a budget, there's no better location than vegas!

<p>Need to remember the $$ posted here are for the hotel rooms negotiatd by SOE for the event. There are PLENTY of hotels in Orlando and Vegas that will be MUCH cheaper than what is posted here. The hotel room prices here are not accurate to what we could find as individual <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. I attended the last Fan Faire in Orlando. If they are considering holding it at the same hotel I can tell you that the other hotels in that general vacinity are very high dollar. There are some less expensive ones not too far away but you would need to rent a car and drive to the event location. After attending 6 Fan Faires, I can tell you that staying in the hotel where Fan Faire is being held is the only way to go.

Ok, not only am I voting for the best city in the world (ahem) Denver, The Mile High City, Queen City of the Plains and Gateway to the Rockies!!! but I will volunteer to help Sony out in running the thing, I have experiance running gaming conventions and work for an event staffing company. I will also help my fellow players with where to go, what to do questions... but no, you can't flop in my apartment... Erich (Eyugally sumbaddgun, Betrox, ex Thollux paells) SOE guys- you can find my contact info from somewhere I suspect, let me know what I can do to help.
How about 2, 1 for east coast and one for west coast? I know would have to drive and I cant get out to denver or vegas but I can *bleep* sure get to orlando and most of the east coast. Gas has become a consideration with the prices these days and since I just got laid off as well travel is quite limited. Just a thought since Im sure others who would like to attend are in similar situations.

Vegas Baby we can do things all night.
<p>Europe is a real place. You can go there on an aeroplane. You will need a passport and people will be a little taken aback if you offer them US$ as payment, but there is no good reason why Fan Faire couldn't happen there. Even in Germany. </p><p> Maybe one year SOE ...? please? I'm happy to fly out to Orlando or Vegas or whatever. I've been to both before and they're kinda dull, but really, couldn't you show a little love to us over here? Please?</p>
<p>I was'nt posting a conspiracy theory. I was stating that Florida had a big shot at winning then the poll was changed merging all 3 vegas together and putting Orlando in last instead of first. Theres like 5 posts under this one with little red letters asking peeps not to post about conspiracy theories. We are'nt plotting to kill someone and cover it up using the keebler elves. Just stating that O-town was in first, and now in last.</p><p> And yes most of the "Conspiracy Theories" seem to be posting for Orlando. If we are motivated enough to post a conspiracy just imagine how well we will do at the Fan Faire!</p>
<p>Orlando FTW!</p><p>March is a GREAT time of year to go to Florida... 70s to low 80s during the day, beautiful sunny skies and (better yet) hurricane season does not start until June 1. LOTS of excellent activities to do in the area - and who could pass up a chance to see Mickey? </p><p><img src="/smilies/e8a506dc4ad763aca51bec4ca7dc8560.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

been away on vacation and got back late last night, just voted for Orlando but i know its to late, plus vegas has won anyways... shame really, may be a great place to have it, but what about ever having something here on the East Coast?? I live in Tampa, FL and can't fly out to the West Coast for these events, but would like to... oh well, just one more SOE event i miss...
You cut the suspense with a knife, ewvery time it looks like Vegas id going to run away with it, Denver manages to come up with enough votes to get back into the race. Even coming from Denver, I didn't know that there would be enough support to make it a close race. Looks like people close by are relaly pushing...I have seen at least 2 times where Denver has gained nearly 60 votes in just a few short hours... I voted for Vegas but I like to watch a good horse race.... Cmon Vegas, we need more votes!

I voted for orlando. way much more to do. Disney, Universal...endless other attractions. and you cant blow your money on casinos that will rob you blind. at least you get fun out of themeparks! plus orlando's areas are huge.
There's more to do in Orlando than in Vegas? You have either never been to Las Vegas OR you are too young to enjoy yourself there...Let's see Theme parks that are $60 per day per person and Hotels that are $50 a night more expensive? No thanks.. I don't know how many of you have attended Fan Faires, but the VAST majority of attendees are over 21 so they can drink and gamble if they like, so those of you who aren't 21 yet are at some disadvantage and I do feel for you. There IS a lot of things to do in Las Vegas for the under 21 crowd. Since I have seen the theme parks during sprint break, I can tel you It's not much fun waiting in a line for 45 minutes to ride a mediocre roller coaster for 2 minutes... Besides there are plenty of roller coasters in in Las Vegas...
I voted for Denver, I know most of my friends would like to see it in Denver also. Fanfaire was east coast "Atlanta" this year, it was in las vegas previously dont think it has ever been to denver yet.

Wow, that many people wanna risk losing their money on SNOW!!!!! I can't believe it. Vegas FTW! Honestly, if you all wanna see SNOW that bad, watch the TWC. I don't wanna risk my cash and vacation time on the whims of Mother Nature. What's gonna happen in Vegas, not a blizzard that's for sure.

Does this sound like a good time to you? Or don't you care since you don't have to fly or drive very far....Most of us will be using vacation days and we would like the weather to be nice, not cold or wet... And as far as you last point there....try again...the Vegas FF dates are in JUNE, so unless you are coming from say....above the artic circle I doubt anyone will need to worry about snow...

West coast is winning go figure! CONSPIRACY!! (ok that was a conspiracy theory. Go ahead and delete it.)
<p>I never said Denver was a tropical paradise. What I was attempting to do was counter this idea that Denver is a deep freeze. It is not. I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, which had much, much colder, snowier, lingering winters, on average, than those I've experienced in Denver.</p><p>Yes, it snows in Denver. Yes, it gets cold here. But you have to admit, that the MAJORITY of the time, any snow that falls is gone the next day. We don't have a solid month of sub 20 degree temperatures in Denver - that's in the daytime, not even considering where temp goes after dark. The idea that Fan Faire in Denver is going to be some horrid, miserable, North Pole experience by default is off base, if you'll be honest about it.</p><p>I have plenty of money to fly to Vegas and have a blast there. I believe Denver and Colorado have a TON to offer to any visitor, any time of the year. Plus, having it in Denver enables me to put up friends and guildmates who otherwise would not be able to afford to go to Fan Faire no matter where it's held. If that makes me selfish, so be it.</p><p>Vegas has had Fan Faire before. If you're going to throw the selfish card around, who is REALLY being selfish by refusing to consider alternate venues?</p><p>Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and their choice of where they would like it to be. That's why we get to vote. But don't trash a city's chances by painting an exaggerated impression. 300 days of sun in CO. That leaves 65 cloudy days. Odds are not every day in March is going to be cloudy. Or cold. Or rainy. Or covered in snow.</p><p>I wore a coat one week this past winter, and that was in December.</p>

Personally, I dislike FL intensely. I went there every year for vacation growing up. High humidity and large ugly bugs are not my thing. Also, I don't have a lot of desire to go to the desert.. esp in June. I'm not big into gambling or showgirls. I have nothing against Denver at all. (Orlando, well I used to live there and am maybe biased against it). I've been to Devner several times (hugh Avs and Broncos fan) and I have been snowed out of going a couple times. If it were more in the Spring/Summer time, I'd be more then happy with Denver. It just strikes me odd, and I know I am not the only one who has seen this, Denver would be trailing by upward of 80 votes and in a matter of 15-20 minutes they are in the lead by nearly 20 votes...Now i don't know what's going on, but it seems very strange, especially when I have witnessed it 2 times where it would have been very early in the morning in Denver...Like between 5:30 and 7 AM when most people who play would be asleep or going to work...I don't want to sound like I am sounding a conspiracy alarm, I just want this to be a FAIR poll..maybe the guy who said this poll wasn't a good idea was right..

i just talked to everyone in the world and they said we want to go to las vegas. Vote for vegas its where your best friends are planning on going! And ill be there, and ill say hi to you.
<p>I'm to stoopid to do quotes so here comes a ghetto quote.</p><p>"It just strikes me odd, and I know I am not the only one who has seen this, Denver would be trailing by upward of 80 votes and in a matter of 15-20 minutes they are in the lead by nearly 20 votes...Now i don't know what's going on, but it seems very strange, especially when I have witnessed it 2 times where it would have been very early in the morning in Denver...Like between 5:30 and 7 AM when most people who play would be asleep or going to work...I don't want to sound like I am sounding a conspiracy alarm, I just want this to be a FAIR poll..maybe the guy who said this poll wasn't a good idea was right.."</p><p>I think the poll was fine how it was originally. I think they change screwed alot of things up, therefor causing people to complain (like me. I feel nerfed). I guess I did'nt see the point of running a poll, then changing the poll after like one thousand people had voted. You cant expect everyone to know the poll was changed so you lose a ton of votes.</p><p>My suggestion would be to have 2 fan faires. One on the east coast for the east coasters, and one on the west coast for the west coasters. Its hard for people to get to one side of the country to another. Also to my knowledge a majority (like 90%? Correct me if I am wrong) of the Fan Faires have been west coast or closer to the west coast. </p>

Before 2005 SOE did indeed hold 2 fan faires per year, one in the spring and one in the fall, generally the spring was west coast and the the fall was in the east. I can see why everyone here appears so desperate to hold the Fan Faire in their city sonce there is now only one per year and it costs a lot of money to travel anywhere...SOE Should bring back 2 shows a year, it would help to eliminate the bickering and they would still have plenty of people to attend. No, actually the events have been about 50/50 east/west but you have to remember that they use the Mississippi river as the dividing point, not the coast lines..SO shows in teh midwest were considered east coast. How about it Ashlanne, could we go back to 2 shows a year??
<p>How many of you that prefer Denver and Orlando would still go to FF if it is in Vegas? I prefer Vegas and will only go if it is in Vegas. I like the fan faire activities, but not all of them. </p><p> The idea I get to catch a show, gamble, see the rest of the sites and play in Vegas with my guild mates across the globe is what sells me on going. Also there is no substitute for a 24 hour city. Denver and Orlando I would have to pass.</p>

I have done 3 that I either had to drive across multiple states or fly to (including Vegas) and it is just not worth it this year. What the heck is up with the vote count? There is NO way that 500 more votes were cast for each side in just a matter of 2 hours or so.....I am calling shenanigans...

<p>Obviously, this poll has become a joke. 1,000 votes cast in a little more than an hour? and teh voting is within "3" votes? impossible odds. I for one think that this is a been made into a game. Orlando is the only place i will go for Fan Faire, or perhaps Vegas, but this voting is just a freaking joke.</p>

What I have noticed is that as long as I keep my browser open and hit refresh, it doesnt refresh the vote counts correctly. If I close it and then reopen the browser then it appears to show the correct updated totals. Not sure if it is only on my browser not refreshing properly or just a bug.

I have my browser set up to refresh this page every 5 minutes, its not a refresh issue...it looks like someone has found a voting exploit....even creating "ghost" accounts cant make up that many votes that quickly...

Ok, I give up. This has gotten ridiculous. Just end the poll and draw straws, throw a dart at a map while blindfolded or something but I'm calling foul on these Denver & Vegas votes lately. People keep talking about where Denver votes come from suddenly to keep it withing 10 votes but if Dener is ahead then Vegas gets votes to withing 10. Then suddenly both get over 500 votes and again withing 10 seperate the 2??? BTW What was wrong with the original poll?

the same thing was going on with the original poll too, just not so pronounced because there were many more choices..I beleive there is a post here poiting out the pitfalls of chosing the location via poll. I think the selection has really become cut throat since SOE started having only one fan faire a year....I know I won't go to Denver because it's in March and I am not using my vacation to go from one cold climate to another...PLUS Vegas is much less expensive overall..
