<DIV>Have basically 3 questions about Customing (for the constume contest):</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1) Can we get publication of the local laws in effect regarding weapons. Various localities have different feelings about swords (sharp, double-edged, etc), axes, flails, crossbows (illegal in many states), etc. Please advise before anybody gets into trouble.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2) Does SOE have limitations in that area?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>3) How do most people get their costumes *to* the Fan Faire if they are not driving? Shipping? If so, is there an address we can ship them to (and pick them up) or should we ship to our own hotel?</DIV>

<DIV>call your hotel you will be staying out <BR>(if you have reservations)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>They usually let you mail stuff to them ahead of time  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As far as weapons I dont ever recall seeing any at fanfaire besides wands and staves...but I'd recommend against it... some of the Designers are already afraid to go and we all know your kinda a loose cannon</DIV>

<DIV>No loose cannons. This is EQ, not SWG.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was thinking of a Rapier (have a very nice one) or a Claymore (back scabbard). </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I go to 8-12 trade shows a year and often ship things (costuming will be a first, though). Often, the organizers will have some place we can pre-ship to and they hold for safekeeping - we pick up during registration. Just checking.</DIV>

<DIV>if i were you, id watch out for some rabid enchanters..and i dont think a sword will help <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> maybe a big hood and something to cover yer nametag!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>but yeah, I just called hilton and they said theyd hold it for a week or two without a problem, they didnt seemt o have a policy on costume stuff, but i didnt refer to it as weapons either... and being a casino, I think they might frown on it</DIV>

<P>Hullo thar!</P> <P>Grand ta hear yer comin' properly garbed!</P> <P>Oi pack me costume inna suitcase an' bring it with me to tha FanFaire. Given alla leather, metal an' sech, it is inevitable that me bag emerges at tha odder end wif "INSPECTED BY FSA" sitckers all over it... <EM>*grins*</EM>  Oi like ta think Oi give 'em a bit o' excitement in they day.</P> <P>If yer wanna ship it, label it real clear, includin' "Hold fer so-and-so, arriving June 8th" and make sure yer phone number is on it. Then have it sent ta yer hotel. However, they are offen pressed fer space, an' ye might find it takes a while fer staff ta dig oot yer crate from behind a buncha odder stuff.  </P> <P>SOE travels thar jes like we do, so they have no holdin' facility fer yer items, nor, Oi am sure, would they wanna take responsibility fer yer fancy gear, hehe. Asides, have yer ever tried ta hold an SOE employee still long enough fer ta arsk them a question durin' FanFaire? Busy, busy, busy folk. A trifle teched inna head too, if yer know whut Oi mean.... who knows WHUT they'd do wif yer costume! <EM>*winks*</EM></P> <P>Most hotels (includin tha Hilton in Vegas) do not wanna see real weppins of tha pointy/slashy kind.  They do not seem ta object ta wooden staves/wands, an' Oi wore a plastic sword las' time (aye, tis true).  While Oi'd love ta haul me hefty war axe wif me, even Oi recognize that it is in fact a deadly weppin... especially inna hands of a Dwarf.  E'en more so if Oi have a few drinks, makin' me more accurate an' all!</P> <P>From tha FanFaire FAQ:</P> <P><STRONG><STRONG>Can I wear a costume to Fan Faire?</STRONG><BR>Of course you can wear a costume! In fact, we encourage it. Unfortunately, the hotel does not allow weapons (steel, wood, or any other simulated weapon that may pose a danger to yourself or someone else) in any public area. If you are found with if you are found with a dangerous weapon in your possession in a public area, you will be asked to return the item to your room immediately.</STRONG></P> <P>They do not say, "without supper", but Oi fink that is implied, hehehe.</P> <P>Luk forward ta seein' ye thar!</P> <P><STRONG>Brasse</STRONG></P> <P><EM>Mystic o' tha Inn of the Sun (Crushbone)</EM></P>

<DIV>Ah... Ok.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My leathers will not fit in any bag I can carry on a plane, the hat will need to be boxed to prevent crushing.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So the Rapier is out (really pointy), but I think the Claymore may be in. It is not sharp. I use it a lot for knighting during presentations here where I live. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Its only danger is if somebody walked onto the end of it (same danger with a pencil), but it is not "pointy" like a rapier and it is also almost  feet long <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Way too long for a dwarf.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As for the Enchanters.... I don't know where this idea that I hate Enchanters came from... Ask some people I actually *play* the game with - like Jetta - to see how I actually treat them in game. My problem was never with Enchanters - it was with a couple of particularly whiny enchanters who then just starting whining even more about opressed they became.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>[edit - add]</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Besides. I have registered under the name I actually play under. I have not played Klonn for more than a year (except for like two LDoNs where we needed a tank at those levels).  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I registered under my real Main's name, so those that know me in game can find me <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If I only know you from the SOE boards - send me a PM and I will decide if I will let you know what my Main's name is....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Otherwise, you will be guessing for the entire Faire <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV><p>Message Edited by Klonn_Darkbane on <span class=date_text>04-29-2005</span> <span class=time_text>05:01 PM</span>

Pfft....like a kitty would stand a chance against the War Hamster!  And he will definitely give an Iksar indigestion.
