1) Quest Fear Itself - Collect Fear tree branches These are actually tree stumps can we specify in journal that we are looking for stumps not branches, I must have killed 20 trees hoping for a drop, I had trouble finding the stumps...

2) at -1,546.89 the stump is hovering mid-air. Around the same location the stump spawned a 2nd time way above my toons head. Mobs have been seen pathing underground in this area (invisible mob attacking merc also Selgaad the Ruinous?) Another tree stump in mid air -1,406.81, 218.05, 521.05.

I'm still on this questline so I'll edit if I have more to add.

*Edit*

3) Step 3 - the sack icon next to mobs name needs to be removed once you've finished with that particular type of mob for the quest, but still have other types of mobs to collect.

4) All mobs in this upper area have the questsack, they do not update the quest.

I have the final positions and art for the branches finally in. It will probably be one more patch before they show up correctly, but they will no longer be floating root clumps =)

As for the sack icon, it won't disappear, since the item can still be used on any fear creature. You'll have to pay attention to your log to see which ones you still need.

Ok that's nice to know, because for a while there I was Stumped.

So I found the logs with no problem when I did this quest. What I did notice is that when you have the staff part you get the sack icon on mobs that you don't even need to use the wand on. Confused me at first when I used the wand and got no updates. Also when I'm on the turn in step all the mobs still have the sac icon even though I don't need them anymore.

The reason the icon appears is because you can stull use the wand on them. You can technically scan any of the Fear creatures and get a little examination message about it. There's no way for me to fix this short of creating a ton of new files that disallow you from using the wand on anything that will not update the quest (which is something I did not want this quest to do in the first place). I'm hoping people are patient enough to read the quest more carefully once they realize they aren't getting updates for everything. As this quest does not require combat, that shouldn't be too big an issue.

I spent hours in the areas indicated by the maps and even used Gnomish Divining Rods and did not locate a single Branch

I cannot find these Fear Tree Branches, or Stumps.... I have gone to the coords and don't see them there although the coords are on teh oopsite side of the map where the blue area says it is.... any ideas or a pic of what they even look like?

UPDATE: I found all three branches OUTSIDE the area shown on the map, it was in the center area directly to the WEST of the blue pool on the map. They looked like a forked small branch sticking out of the base of the trees, they do highlight when you hover over it.

Now my quest update seems to be stuck. It keeps saying to combine the blood ruby and the branches into a wand. I did that, it put a wand in my inventory, but it did NOT update the quest. It still says I need to combine them, and when I do it says you have already. I had to finally take a chance and delete the wand it made and try again, and it updated.

I found the branches as branches attached to trees in the panhandle area near the southern gorilla area. I did not see any branches anywhere else in the highlighted area.

Watchstar

I incorrectly reported some typos for the intro dialogue of this quest on the Skies of Red bug thread: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...=523955#5805604

Cyliena wrote:

Apologies if there's a thread already for this one, but I couldn't find it.

Currently speaking to Gulthga for the first time. The part right before you agree to help him he uses a naughty word! It's within the bubble that includes: "Their fear should cripple them, but it as if Cazic himself has shielded them. I must as*ses our situation." Tacking one more "s" to correctly make that word "assess" would do wonders for that amygadalan's foul mouth.

Next typo: two dialogue bubbles later he says "These creature are familiar and yet unfamiliar." -- "creature" should be "creatures".

"Prognosticate", really? Even I had to look that one up, had no idea what it meant.

Okay, I just realized that all of the above should be in a report for the quest "Fear Itself", apologies.

Where they refer to Punxsutawney Phil as the "prognosticator of prognosticators". Also that Amygdalan is intentionally using very large words to sound smarter because he feels a need to reenforce just how superior he is to you.

I fixed the other typos you mentioned. Thanks for catching those =)

Fear-Divining RodWhen I analyzed a dreadooze it updated correctly, but the fearstruck soullight line also blinked as if it expected an update.

.. same for the gorilla, fearling and creeper updates, the soullight line blinks.

Things that shouldn't have the quest bauble icons by their names: "a bloodglare creeper" has that the bag icon that it will update this quest, but it doesn't. Same for "a wretched fearling", "a D'iar Ew fearmonger", "a fear-touched shaderoot" (I don't recall any treant mobs in Shard of Fear btw.. the read-out says they hail from PoFear in our own world, though).

Unfortunately there's no fix for this. All NPCs in the fear area are going to have bag icons because the item can be used on any of them (much like a catalogue quest). In this case you'll have to refer to the quest itself to find out which targets you still need.
