Was following Esrim's spirit when one of our opponents jumped away and needed to follow to kill. Esrim disappeared.

Esrim disappeared over a high mountain barrier, we could do with a locator on the map to follow him. I had to go back to his original point to start him off again but did complete the quest. He also attacks the Paladin merc.

Oops, will definitely fix that merc attacking. I'll see about having him place markers as well, so that you can find him again if you lose him.

He should be teleporting your whole group past the mountain. If that isn't happening, please let me know.

another problem is he aggros mobs that arnt triggered spawns and combat locks them and dies, we are unable to assist him.

The first time, he did teleport my character, but then he ran up and over the mountain and I lost him. The 2nd time I don't recall being teleported but perhaps it was so smooth a transition that I didn't notice (might have looked away from the screen for a moment to do something).

I just tried to get the quest and saw no kind of spirit around, second time worked fine (he flees pretty fast so might have missed him the first time).

after crossing the mountain, he got confused and ran around in circles a bit after we killed a scorpion near -592.52, -2.86, 264.47 . He didn't wander far, but it was erratic. After 3 circles or so, he went to the river and crossed it.

around -631.53, -0.48, 120.21 he warped back to attack a nearby prowler.

Kinda cute quest tbh ;p

Just did this quest. Worked the second time.

First time after porting me through the mountains he took off due north straight through the rocks, and I ran into Ogre guards trying to chase him down.

Second try, after porting, he wandered off east towards the river, and quest continued as I expect it was intended to.

I ran the quest yesterday. I did not get ported, just ran up to the face where he disappeared into. I flew over but he didn't appear. Then I saw him fighting, helped him, and then he took off again. Another guildee followed him, got to the area he stopped at and they killed the named but I got the ding and they didn't. Apparently she lost her Esrim and followed mine instead. She never found hers, I don't think. And she had run this several times. This was my second try because I kept losing him.

Tried this quest today. After reading the posts in this thread I understood it a bit more (flee, teleport, and climbing over the mountain). I've restarted the quest 6 times. The last 3 I was able to follow him up over the mountain, watched him go through a big rock, and caught up with him back on a path. But, then he just disappears, and there's no update.

Ok, I believe I have fixed the issue with him running through the mountain. I haven't been able to get into a situation where I am not teleported, however. If someone can verify that this still occurs, please give me any details you have on exactly how it occurred (did you still see the teleport animation, were you in combat at the time, etc etc), and I'll try to get it sorted out.

Thanks!

I was able to complete the quest. He mentions the mountain and then teleports. I'm not sure if there's supposed to be an animation associated with the teleportation - it seems we just instantly zone. I was not in combat at the time of the teleportation. I do have my graphics turned down. Would that cause me to miss the animation?

He no longer runs through the mountain or rocks, but still runs some what erratically. Maybe he had too much coffee the day he left Norrath? LOL

Esrim has no bluish-palor that the other Wayward do.

As soon as the New Quest! box pops up, his spirit books it. Not sure if that's intentional, I hadn't even accepted the quest yet! Going to have to speak to him again apparently because by the time I clicked accept, he was no where to be seen.

edit:

Okay I completed this. Speaking to him again (without picking the quest back up) triggered the spirit running again. There was a graphic for teleporting across the mountain, but then he takes off so erratically I had to track him to find him. Unfortunately track resulted in two wrong locations before it figured out where he was; luckily I got there before he died. The rest of the quest ran fine.

His spirit body appears to be missing most of its legs. It also has a black braid which looks really odd.

I'm not sure why he's working on my local server and not on Beta, but I'll keep testing it. In the meantime, if he teleports you across the mountains, then runs off, you should be able to remain at that location for about 20 seconds and he will run back to you before continuing his path.

I changed his appearance so that the odd black braid is gone.

Ah HAH! Figued out why he was running back and fixed it for good (about 90% certain this time). Will be fixed in the same update that his black braid is gone
