Around Tuesday of this week a lot of my games started randomly getting these micro-stutters while I am playing. I will be running and the game will stutter slightly and it happens all the time, regardless of graphics settings. I checked EQ2 and it happens here as well. While it is happening, my FPS will fluctuate drastically from say 50-60 FPS and then down to like 30, 20, 15, and then back up to 50 or so. This was not the case before, and it just started happening. It is very frustrating. I have tried scanning for viruses/spyware/malware and found nothing (well I found a couple of spyware programs and got rid of them). I have updated all the drivers that I can, and I have defragged my harddrive (which defrags every week anyway). I really am at a loss here and it is annoying me, because the computer is really not that old and used to have incredible performance with EQ2 and all my games, actually. Here is my dxdiag. If it's in all games it's either a case of something in memory causing your system to spike CPU usage or your system is throttling down due to overheating. It could also be an anti-virus acting up.I would open up Task Manager and sort it by CPU. Watch to see what, other than System Idle Process, is spiking above 20%.

Nothing, other than system idle process is spiking above 02, actually... Thanks for the recommendation, though. Sadly, I still don't know what's wrong.Also, I decided to reset the computer to factory condition in case it was a software issue and it has taken over 3 hours to transfer roughly 10 GB of files to my external HDD.

So.. I factory reset my computer, and it was still having problems. So I bought a new HDD and factory reset it there, and that fixed some of my basic performance problems but I was still having problems with running games, and THEN I found and updated the drivers for my motherboard chipset and that fixed MORE of my general performance problems but I am still having issues running games. Specifically, I am having an issue where I get GREAT FPS (like 60-70 FPS) if I'm just standing there or moving around an area that I have rendered recently, but as soon as I have to render anything new, like a new building comes into view, or a character runs by or anything, my FPS drops to like 4 FPS and it lags and stutters and freezes up horribly. I still don't know what is wrong. I have swapped my video card with my wife's who is using the same card, and I still have the same problem. Anybody have ANY ideas?

A 32-64Gb is fine and are <a href="http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100008118%204025&IsNodeId=1&name=%2425%20-%20%2450" target="_blank">relatively cheap now at $50</a> or less. That would eliminate the texture load stuttering you are receiving.
