Computer is an ASUS G50Vt-BestBuy model laptop ~2008. Has always ran EQ2 just fine, and for the most part does very well for its age. Wireless (802.11n) broadband (100mbit) connection. Windows 7 SP1, latest nVidia drivers.

An issue I'm having, and my wife as well (she uses another, much newer computer) is random FPS drops. The FPS graph will show a random plummet to 3 FPS, and of course it's at the most inconvenient time. It doesn't always happen, though. I can go days without it, even a week, then suddenly several days where sporadically throughout the day I'll get the FPS drop. And never when I'm just chilling in SS, always when I'm on a named fight, or in the Dozekar suit, or in a raid.

I deleted the C:Crash folder (which, by the way, you guys had 32GB of data residing in). Still nothing. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. Windows "perfmon" and task manager don't show any other threads using significant resources.

This happens regardless of the performance profile setting I'm using (which is usually "balanced"). Extreme performance setting does not help the issue when it's occuring. The timing when the spikes begin is usually: 3 minutes of normal activity, 1 minute of extremely reduced FPS (2-4 FPS). This cycle will repeat roughly 5-6 times, then I can go a period of 15-45 minutes of normalcy before the cycle resumes. Relaunching the game or rebooting does not seem to be effective.

Please help me. I can only use the FPS excuse so many times before it gets old quickly.
