Hi guys. I just rolled a coercer cause my guild needed one. I powerleveled it to 92, almost fully raid geared, and now it's time to learn playing a mage again. To my surprise coercers do melee, who would have thunk. I have some questions specific to the coercer because of all of the melee they do.

I just returned to the game. Since I've been gone the autoattack/multi attack thing was added for mages. I have not played a mage in years so this is new to me.

I normally play a scout or tank so keep that in mind. When autoattacking we generally cast, cast, delay, autoattack hits and then rinse and repeat. That's where we get our dps is from allowing that delay for the autoattack to hit. Do I do the same thing with the coercer? Set it to force melee? Cast, cast, delay? Or should I just button mash?

I'm working out my casting order and have some good info from a guild coercer. But he has been offline and I kinda need to know about the autoattack to properly sort out my casting order. Your answer is appreciated!

Coercer ... really any class with a Melee Weapon Multiplier bonus (usually thur an AA) ... can (now) add a significate amount of damage via the melee weapon. You will need to time your autoattack in a similar way as a scout/fighter, where they follow the CA, CA, CA, delay-autoattack <repeat>, the casters would replace the CA with a Spell and follow the same rotation.

Obvious Tips for a Melee Caster; Be in melee range (force melee recommended), Select the AA which gives Melee Weapon Multiplier, raise multiattack to 600, get a big weapon to hit people with.

I can't believe I'm asking this about a mage class but would you recommend flurry adorns? Attack speed?

Also remember to set your auto-attack to forced melee.

It's already set. The gear I'm wearing is very similar to another coercer that's raiding with us. In my attempts to catch him on the parse I just need to know how much I should invest adorns, potency, attack speed and reforging into melee spec. The thought of doing that to a mage class just flabbergasts me. I never knew anything about a coercer except it was a mana pump.
