The title says it all. I'd like to find a book that covers the lore of Norrath. Looking to start with the beginning and read through to present day. But I kinda figure nothing like that exists.

Doesn't hurt to ask!

If you mean a single coprehensive volume or volumes on all of Norrathian history, like The Official Records of the War of the Rebellion, then there is none that I know of. There are *overviews* that touch the highlights, but they are just that, overviews.

There are several collections of in-game books that have been made available through quests and such.

Here are two of the best (although neither site has been updated in a long while):

http://www.lorelibrary.com/

http://biblionorrath.com/index.php

If you are looking for in-game collections, then Jazabelle's Library on AB is probably the best I have found:

http://homesandtomes.blogspot.com/2...ary-take-3.html

She has almost all the EQ2 in-game books there as well as many player-made books, and some transcriptions of EQ Live books.

However, perhaps the *best* source for lore is right here on these forums. There are some stickied topics on EQ lore at the top you might want to start with.

I would suggest that you start slow. Pick a few topics and research those.

You could start with individuals that have been a recurring theme throughout all Norathian lore:

Mayong Mistmoore

Lucan D'lere

The whole Bayle line

Or perhaps historical events:

The Rending

The Shattering

The War of the Fay

The Rallosian Wars

Or organizations:

The Knights of Truth

The Bloodsabers

The Dismal Rage

The Whistling Fists

The Thexians

Also, since the stories of Norrath have changed and evolved over the last 13 years, it might be better to start with the most recent and work your way backwards rather than starting at the beginning and working your way forward.

If you mean lore from ALL of Norrathian history, You will have to include EQoA, and EQ Live as well as official announcements and developer's posts (primarily on this forum). The question is still out on whether *other* SOE sanctioned produts such as LoN and EQ and EQ2 table top rpgs, EQ novels and official player guides and map collections are to be considered *official* lore.

Now that is a HUGE reading project!

Good Luck!

Hope that helps.

I understand how in the beginning of EQ1 they purposely let the lore get muddied with a lot of fan-fiction because the devs didn't want to pee in the cheerios of RP guilds writing lore for their own/friends/guilds sake, like the Codex of War for example, some of it was actual beta lore and some of it was that dwarf,.. who's name escapes me at this moment. That was what? 13-14 years ago now? Entire countries have risen and fell since then. To be honest I was hoping the devs would start asking/implimenting like-lore minds of the community to make 1 whole "Continuity" but it'd take this thing called communication, something that people have little time/patience for it seems.

Devs/Coders/Artists/Elder-Sr-Guides/RPers/Raiders/Casuals/Hardcores/Crafters all of us are part of Everquest lore, our thoughts/actions/inspiriations all contribute, as well as some heavily loved 1980's action cartoons and certain puzzle/platforming vampiric games *coughs*.... but I digress

It's been kind of lackluster outside of the actual games themselves for a while. Theres like 4 EQ novels and a few comics and action figures but some of them are "stand alone" stories to. All of which are pushing over decade old now... EQNext will again be "a different demension". Eh maybe they'll dust off the merchandising wing of the Everquest franchise and try to stir it up for the fanboies. Hell I'd love it if they take EQNext's lore and clean up their stories in it to make sure to keep it from becoming another game of Jenga.
