The current system boosts the health of lower lvl toons to compete with 89s. But it boosts max health, not actual health. As a 39 I go into a bg with my 5k ish hps and a big empty health bar that doesnt completely fill before the match starts. The problem is even worse if I join a match in progress.

Solution: fill up the health bar when we zone in!

(though I'd actually like to get t4 bgs back, it was fun competing against ppl with the same number of spells, aa, crit chance, ma, etc as me)

bumping my own topic, because even though no-one else cares, an easy fix would make bgs fairer on lower lvl toons

I care. It annoys the hell out of me that I start with around 10% health and have no healing abilites. If nobody heals up the fighters before the start, they are useless meat sacks who exist just to die in order to heal up.

I haven't tried one of my sub-90 characters in the "new-BGs" yet, so please pardon my potentially silly question. Do you get the bump up to level 90 stats when you zone into Champion's Respite, or only when you enter the actual BG combat zone? I'm sorry to hear that healers in the lower tier are such slackers--I find that personally repugnant, as a healer. I'd make sure you were topped up, if you were in my group!

Max health gets bumped up when you enter the actual battleground (I'm still around 5k hitpoints in the lobby).

Sometimes there is no healer in the group,

sometimes you or the healer join without enough time on the 'get ready count down' to heal up,

sometimes there is no healer,

sometimes you join after a match has started (super fun if the enemy are inside your ganak base for instance :p),

(and sometimes you annoyed the healer so much in a previous match they pretend not to see you! - maybe just my paranoia here but I'm splitpaw.waits so ppl can confirm/deny how annoying I am).

Regardless of the reason, it would be nice to start with full health bars pls devs.

Yes this is an annoying problem and it needs fixing!

It's even more annoying when it happens in Gears and you have no healer...and you find out you're going against a DPS heavy group. Half life group v full warlocks or beastlords = revive screen.

On the plus side, once you die you respawn with full health, right? (I say in jest--that is certainly a hardship and needs fixing.)

Oh, and don't be annoying to the healer. Heh.

Well there was a BGs update, but this wasnt addressed.

***bumpetybumpbump***

Here's hoping the issue gets noticed by a red name sometime

Another bgs update went in (thanks for nerfing troubs!) but no fix for empty health bars.

Dear soe, can I start a match with '30k health' instead of '10k health with a maximum 30k'?

Please.

I suppose I could log one of my other accounts to bump this... but nah - just be brazen!

Bumpety-bump-bump

The fact that this issue is ignored is probably proof that no dev plays a lower lvl toon in bgs.

Since my earlier post, I have played the 30-89 tier with my ranger (Unrest.Tyraen). While it is a little disconcerting at first to zone in with such a vastly empty HP bar, I haven't found it to be completely handicapping. Yes, there are matches where I zone in and get killed immediately because someone's fighting at the spawn point, or they get close before the bar fills. Then I respawn with full HP, hunt them down, and do bad things to them. I'm changing my opinion from "this is a bug that must be fixed" to a "this is an annoyance that would be nice to fix".

Side note: the 30-89 BGs tend to be a bit more fun for me. In the 90-92 tier, there seem to be more glacial stalemate matches (Wow! Each group has 3 healers and 3 tanks! The clock runs down every time! Epic parses, but nobody dies! Only slightly exaggerated!!!!) while in the 30-89 tier the action is a bit more lively. And full of scouts. Some of the most amusing matches have been ones with zero healers on each side, few tanks, and everyone else is a DPS class. I've played my ranger from level 40 to level 56 in BGs now; good times.

At the end of a match, you are healed to full even from death, and you still have your adjusted HP. I don't see why they can't do a similar thing at the start of a match. Level 89's are still far more powerful than a lvl 30 toon, so handicapping people below the adjusted hp even further doesn't seem to make much sense.

so u die once at the beginning? this isnt a big deal. you just want something to complain about.

The same thing happens whenever I bring a low-level character into DM. I'm really happy with BG's, it just seems kind of sloppy/untested.

Troll on!

39 Warden here, Asculapius and I not only top off my group but other groups as well. I am pretty sure this isn't a level thing, but a bad player thing. That said, I would be appreciative if we didn't have to top off at all.

Hiya Asculapius--Unrest.Tyraen, here. Your point is apt, some healers are good at compensating for the limitations of the game design. It briefly sucks to not have a healer top up at start, but first respawn fixes that.

I like to look at it as a challenge--how many targets can I take down before someone realizes I'm walking wounded and takes me out? I've gotten a 25 kill streak and then some before I was killed, and have had a few matches without healer in which I never was killed. Happy hunting!
