Mages are currently overpowered atm because potency is stronger than CB in pvp at the moment.

I did them for two weeks with a tank and with potency not on par with CB it wasn't worth taking my tank in when casters can kill him with 1 shot far too often.

Now as my scout, if I see a caster, you can believe I'm going right after you since you are the one who is potentially the most dangerous and if I can take you out, the tanks got a better chance of doing thier job.

I hear rumors of toughness and lethality being made more potent, in which case the pvp gear could be better for pvp if they get the numbers right.

SoE really needs a dedicated itemization person again, cause um, wow, just wow.

The PvP gear has it's ups and downs.

Major con being lower base stats for any piece you buy. The Old BG gear had majorly awesome stats for the fabled jewelry and weapons. Now it has been lowered to below MC stats for all gear.

On the pro side though, the new BG gear has better combat and casting stats than the last season gear. i.e. Multi attack, DPS, Potency, Casting speed... Also the armor stats are higher than the old BG gear's were, even though still lower than MC gear.

Although I feel the BG gear is pretty well balanced, at least for my ranger, whom I have swapped a few pieces of BG for MC gear already.

I noticed that the devs took away the Toughness from MC gear. A move that lowers a players' survivability in the new BG's. I have an inq that I spent time gearing with reactant gear, and even though reactant gear doesn't have the combat and casting stats that BG gear does at his level, it should have toughness/lethality equal to the BG gear.IMHO, ALL gear should have toughness/lethality. Obviously with treasured/Handcrafted having the least, and fabled/fabled MC having the most. Legendary and regular MC should have comparable amounts, given some MC gear's combat/casting stats are better than the Bg's gear, and vice versa.

But my 2cp is, either bare it for now, til you get enough marks for BG gear. Or go in with MC gear, at the very least.

All my comments, I make for the 30-89 BG's. I don't dare go in with my 91 toon to 90+. Survival there is nil without raid gear...

I want to stop the raid gear myth right here. You do not need raid gear in BGs.

You would do just fine with withered lands quest gear. Maybe a couple peices of skyshrine gear. Find a guild, or make some freinds, do the Skyshrine access quest line. Get some dungeon maker charms and the helm. Wrists and fingers are mastercrafted, not that expensive.

I can perform just fine on all my classes without one peice of raid gear. Just take the time to gear up a little and I am sure you will find PvP is much more enjoyable.

You also need to know how to spec your character right for PvP. Find someone good in a BG match, and look up their spec on eq2 wire, it's that easy now.

ESPECIALLY in the lower tier BGs.

Hands down SS raid gear is better than the level 91 stuff, and in many slots its better than the top token gear for the same slot.

I'm not saying that necesarily is a problem, but it feels like to me toughness isn't effective enough as is. The toughness on a set of BG gear should prove more survivable to me than wearing a set of raid gear, and that just isn't so atm.

I have an almost complete set of tier 2 bg gear and still at 45k hp as a tank. I am almost 15 k behind raid tanks and even seen one at 71 k not joking . with 1500 toughness giving me such a small benefit I'd have to say it's better to play in raid gear which can be earned sitting in a raidhall while your guild goes out to fight. Some of the stats on the third tier gear are worse than the tier 2 gear so I see no reason atm to attempt to gear up to the next tier... maybe try raiding to pvp/bg.
