I was wondering..

Last year, with the launch of the new Freeport, we got a free Lucan D'Lere statue with the promise of a companion statue of Antonia Bayle to be released with Qeynos. I don't see it on the marketplace. Is it there and I am just missing it, or was it forgotten?

A quote from Smokejumper's post from last year.. (click it and it'll take you to the post)

"As a small token of our appreciation, and to tie in with the “Freeport Reborn” game update coming up soon, there is a zero cost item in the marketplace for you. It’s a statue of Lucan D’Lere suitable for your guild hall or home (and it’s a twin for the Antonia one coming out next summer when we do the Qeynos revamp). For a limited time, we’re giving it away free of charge, so get it while the gettin’s good!"

I've been looking forward to the Antonia statue all year.

The prestige portal in Qeynos won't let you tour the new Tower of Knowledge. It lists the Vale twice at the bottom, but neither take you to the new home.

Oh, and uh, on the view from the Guild Halls of the old Qeynos tower...I got a rather emphatic and embarrassed "oops" from the Art Director. We should have that fixed tomorrow too.

We cringe every time a bug is found and we do apologize. That's another one we should have caught among the logistics of changing the city.
The content is fantastic. I love the storylines that were written for the revamp.

However, the art revamp looks... unfinished. Half done. The old textures clash against the new ones, and the texturing that wasn't updated with the revamp looks woefully dated next to the newer stuff. This is likely the most disapointing part of the update, considering that the Freeport revamp, graphically, was so well done.

Love the content.
Framerate. TERRIBLE. Prior to the update, I housed in SQ and ran back and forth to NQ for things. Never dropped below around 20fps in NQ/SQ. Maybe the zoning was a little annoying, but I'd take it back in a heartbeat to get rid of the craptastic framerates brought on by merging the zones together. NOW, it bogs down to 7FPS in the new NQ area in spots, with a new average of 15. SoE is surely aware that their rendering engine is craptastic on large zones (Kylong? Gfay? That god-awful town in the middle of Loping Plains?)... So what on earth possessed them to merge the smoothly-rendering Qeynos zones into the laggy monsters we have, now?

Logged out before work in my guild hall. Logged in after work and the game update to thundering steppes. Just curious any ideas why this happened? It was kind of confusing like my character had been sucked into some bug, but after a quick check of things it seems like my character is intact.

I hope you didn't spend many resources on Qeynos because I can't tell any difference beyond removal of a zone line, removal of suburbs, renaming, and moving some NPCs. Underwhelming to say the least. And please, for the love of all things holy, figure out how to do a single list pop-up instead of the 50+ popups I received about adorns and gear and character advancement. Popups even got stuck under other UI elements making it a 10 minute pain to find and click them all.

Loss of the burbs. Terrible. In a few short months the questlines will be as abandoned as the Freeport lines are now... and the burbs will be gone forever. Net loss.

The new guards look very Shiny Freeport Lucanic. Grats. The new Antonia manages to look like crap even on the splash screen. Putting every mounted Guard on Pegasus in a no fly zone, ha ha ha. OFC.. they are the only walking horses left in game after smokejumpers 130 speed "gift". Moving of some NPCs, like the collector, appears to be utterly random and un needed.

Vampires in Castleview. Really.

No Innkeeper vendors at the inn we were forced to. Where are the items that were unique to the burb vendors.

Char progression choices. You had the chance to undo the profession specific race attributes that Aerelik rammed in. You didn't.

Char developement choices.. focus.. are now tied to specific AA choices far too much. These were stand alone bonus before, and should have remained so. You are assuming a singular playstyle, as always.

And finally.. the Logic. Remove and discourage both Freeport and Qeynos as starting/living zones.. and then offer a series of questlines designed to be utilized by a leveling character. Hardly makes sense.

PvP got massive attention. Good for them. It is nice when a minority actually gets something. Bottom line though, every effort to shoehorn PvP interest onto the PvE servers has failed.. and failed since Arenas at KoS.

The Dungeon Maker effect objects, story telling objects, avatars etc, that you have already used and activated are buyable in the marketplace even if you already have them. Before this GU, used up ones disappeared from the marketplace so you couldn't accidentally buy them twice on the same char.

This is to avoid there being 20 different achievements of that type cluttering up the listing. That also allows us to get ahead in putting in achievements for quest counts or collections completed even if they are not able to be earned yet but will unlock as we get more quests/collections/etc put into the game.

Unlike some others, I like the looks of the Qeynos main areas. You kept the flavor of the area and brightened it up just a little. I'm very glad to have the items from the racial quests on the vendors. I've wanted a source for those flowers for years.

I think we have gotten into a complaining habit (me included). I'm going to work on that. I was looking around at all we have now that we didn't a couple of years ago, and its a lot. We can use appearance mounts, we have flying mounts, we have lots of items of use to those of us that love to decorate, we have the Path to the Past chronoquests (which I love doing and led me to game areas I hadn't been to before), we have city festivals and the moonlight grottos. You can level tinkering, adorning, and transmuting all on the same character.

I very much enjoyed the DOV expansions, especially the othmir, the beastlord class is fun, and I've enjoyed the dungeon maker. I'm enjoying the withering lands quests.

I've just been working on the Freeport quests very recently. The quests are really well done. The story that they tell is compelling and I found myself reading the dialog closely. I expect that the Qeynos quests will be just as interesting.

So thats a long, round about way to say thanks.

The quest storyline was extermely well-done. I liked Freeport's story, but the Qeynos one definitely made me feel a lot more involved and I learned a lot about the city, the queen and a few other major figures. The quests were such a HUGE improvement over the "kill 8 rats, collect 3 tails" quests we had from the FP revamp... there was actual diversity in the tasks! There were some humorous spots too that had me honestly cracking up. Kudos to all involved with the quests. Only have done human racial so far but looking forward to the others.

I'm also sad the villages are gone, but expected it after FP. I still think it would be a nice gesture to have tours of the original villages available.

The spots in the city where the art was updated is very nice and not over-the-top (OMG laggy fire) like Freeport's was. However, I agree with another poster above who commented on how the old and new textures clash badly. It would be nice to see all the stone updated to the new textures.

Count me in as waiting for the Antonia statue as well! I certainly hope that wasn't forgotten.

I like the new content so far all the changes will take a little getting used to but overall I think it is an improvement.

If I had any more constructive critisizm for the devs it would have to be more voice-overs. I want to be a part of my story not read it out of a text box and voice-overs are a cheap easy way to feel more involved in the game. So, all over Norrath high and low should be many MANY more voice-overs from NPC's. If other players do not like the voice overs there is already option to turn them off if prefered. But as for myself I have to go into stormhold at least once a month to hear BRAINNNNNSSSS! It's what's for dinner! Still cracks me up everytime. Please and Thank You.

For the quest "Where Help is Needed" the injured Baubbleshire citizens seem to be respawning way slower than they did on test & of course there are many more people on live trying to do the quests. It took more than 3 minutes for them to respawn for me after someone else did that portion of the quest as opposed to the 30seconds or so it seemed to take on Test.

While 3 minutes isn't that long normally, it's a substantial time loss when there are several people standing around trying to do the same quest.

Devs, the casting window is completely broken.... I was targeting the Maintank tonight and I was watching her spam her attacks ALL night... I could NOT catch any AoE's from the mobs and it was IMPOSSIBLE to time any cures... This is NOT needed and if this was intentional, please give us an option to turn it off. Even the cast bar on the NPC is borked, it is NOT in sync with the actual AoE and it cuts off halfway through the cast.. Even targeting through the mob, all i see is spam attacks from the tanks, this should not be this way... Noone wants to see player casts. Fix the cast window please, it completely messes up EVERY single priest that times cures/deathprevents and the like.

As a poster above said... the casting bar is all screwy.

You made a change for PvP servers that complelely messed up PvE. Its near imposible to see the mob's cast bar with their target's cast bar going crazy at the same time. Completely disable this "feature" or make it only active on PVP servers. It has no place on PvE and is an outright detriment.

Fix the casting bar ASAP. You devs put in these these crazy aoe's and and death touch's where every priest has to stare at the f'ing cast bar to PRECURE(like its a dirty word) then you screw up the casting bar so you can't even accurately precure. I almost left the game over precuring but I hung in there and got better at it and now were back to guessing or letting it hit then cure it. Did I mention I hate precurring ??

Last night while working on the final priest quest, "Divine Intervention", I was kicked out of my instance because someone else zoned into while I was spawning the event. As soon as I landed on the other side I was zoning back in to the same instance as the zone out point when you get kicked is on top of the portal. When I got back in, it appeared to kick the other person out. I managed to get off the portal before it ported me back in the second time I was kicked out.

I went and turned in another quest in the Province District, came back. Apparently the other person was still in there, because as soon as I was zoned in, I'd get a message saying that I exceeded the number of people allowed in the zone.

We need a fix for being sent into the same zone, when it's suppose to be a solo zone.

I, too, want to add my voice to the where is the Antonia statue that we were promised would come with this revamp.

I almost never post on forums -- I prefer to read over everyone's thoughts on topics.

Today, I feel very compelled to post my severe disappointment with Qeynos Rises. Visually, the "improvements" were, lackluster, insignificant, and entirely underwhelming. I see the outside walls and castle were given a different look -- was that it? I'm asking because I really did try looking around for the "new" Qeynos, but I couldn't find it.

I sincerely hope the Qeynos Rises leadership didn't trouble themselves dedicating too many resources to this... because that would make things go from sad, to tragic.

Usually when posting feedback of a critical nature, I try to include some suggestions for improvement. This time, however, I am not, because you guys should already know better. You know that you did not commit 110% to this project.

And it shows.

The quest line in Qeynos is very very good. I really enjoyed it and got hooked on the story (i hope a lot of people took time to read it). My only constructive criticisms would be that the encounters were far too easy at 92, the rewards were a little generic (although the penants were cool), noticeable typos in the text and Queen Antonia's appearance art being a bit underwhelming. But, none of those things bothered me too much because the story was interesting.

I can't give much feedback other than I can hardly play in Qeynos. It the capitol district there were 35 players, and even after lowering my garphics quality a notch I was still getting 1 fps with occasionally jumps to 3fps. Even more rarely I was able to move a brief distance. I know the city will clear out in time, but 35 just doesn't sound like it should be so many to completely bog it down.

On the good side,

--'m happy to see the strings of pendants are still in place. Love those things. I've seen them in RL travels in places so they evoke good travel feelings for me. I'm glad the parts of the city that haven't been removed still look close to what it looked before. I did like where you put the collector with his trinkets on the tables. I wish there had been more curious given all the collecting we all do, but its a start. Didn't like the gruff dwarvenish voice of the female human (?) singer on the third floor though. Saw the confrontation between Antonia and her brother whats-his-name and that was pretty nice.

On the bad side - my two Qeynos based characters miss the Baubbleshire and Willow Wood. Also don't like that there still aren't numbers on the inn doors and the map just lists several locations with the exact same name. To me, the winged horse scraping their wings on the doors on either side as they wander the town just looks silly. But maybe thats just me. Bad lag.

Can't speak to the quests since doing them with the lag is out of the question for now.

Be careful what you implement... I'm not really into programming or something, but isn't there like a rule of thumb that goes like: "For every new feauture you add you'll get like 5 new bugs in your old feautures of which you thought they were safe..." ?
Overall, a very positive experience with the changes made.

Qeynos definitely benefits from having some new quests, especially since some old nooks I hadn't been into for years were changed into places to visit for quests. I wish it could have been one zone instead of 2 because getting to housing is a bit annoying, but I am happy with the changes overall. I thought Qeynos was mostly fine to begin with, so it is good that the entire thing wasn't completely overhauled like Freeport was.

I miss the hamlets, but the pictures offered as quest rewards were a nice touch. I personally hope the next step from removing hamlets might be to retake some lost cities (Kaladim for example).
It was my firm belief that the Freeport and Qeynos revamps were going to be a waste time and scarce resources but I was holding off judgement until it was complete. My original assumption was unfortunately accurate. My understanding of the reason for this revamp was to get people back into those cities. Sure, there was more people in Qeynos on the GU launch day than I have seen in a while. Check back in a week and it will be as dead as it ever was. A year's worth of work for a few days worth of "entertainment" is not a good use of the limited man power you so obviously have atm.

MMO's need a central hub so players can see other people thus makeing the game feel more alive. Qeynos and Freeport are obvious choices for such a hub. However, adding low level quests that have an ending is no different than making the hub The Enchanted Lands or Thudering Steppes.

There should be daily quests to pick up and perform in the two cities. Have a token system with nice, costly rewards; something worth grinding for. And that is for all playstyles. Have some very exquisite house items, tradeskill recipes, armor/weapons, etc. Also, add a few scaleable instances to the city and make them worth running. There are other options but those are the two main ones that I can think of that would ensure a steady population.

On a personal note; I am just glad this debacle is done. Perhaps now we can get the expansion from 2 years ago complete and move on to something new.

A few things on the look of Qeynos. I was disapointed. I was expecting more of a total makeover. However, I know that this was a no win situation since others would have been unhappy if it had been a total makeover. Since there was not much change, there's not a lot to say but I will express the biggest peave I experienced playing through the quests.

The Qeynos Castle! I mean you have GOT to be kidding. The outside was some of the best artwork I've seen in the game for some time but it was completely destroyed once I stepped inside. Was I expecting a reworked guild hall? Absolutely. Should I have expected it though? It's flat out, no other way around it, pure and simple... laziness. I am very careful not to insult people's decorating skill and if it had been a players guild hall I would have simply just kept my opinion to myself. But the fact that developers with a full array of items at thier disposal allowed that to be the "royal chambers" is a disgrace.

Hell, I'm not even expecting new art; I gave up on that hope along time ago. But that aquarium was hideous. You could straight up see the ironwood dining table's legs sticking out all over the place and the snow drift tucked underneath. I just...don't even have words. The furniture was plain and anything but regal and the whole atmosphere was just deplorable.

I realize I am nerding out over this and I'm sure the majority of people didnt even bother reading the quests let alone care about the atmosphere but it's something that's bothered me for a long time in this game. Recycled art is one thing but sloppy use of it is entirely another.

May I suggest the next time you dont feel like even trying, look to your homeshow forums. Get one of those talented people to decorate a guild hall for you and copy that over because I promise you it would have been a thousand times better, would make one of your players very proud of themselves and it would be free labor. Win/Win/Win.

Take it or leave it but thats my feedback.

My GU feedback. I really hope a dev somewhere reads this and listens to it.

Qeynos Revamp - Eh. Least it was free ( and this is something that really should be free ).

Battlegrouds - Don't use it.

Fighter Changes - Recklessness really went live like this?

New instances / Raids - Oh there were none...

My big issue is...the last 'expansion' had no content..the previous GU ( which was months late ) finally had content, but too little. Over half my guild dissapeared because there is so little to do. This expansion has no new instances/raids.

We need more instances and raids!

And the amazing thing to me, you just released 2 brand new zones, Qeynos (and recently Freeport). Why not make some instances out of them? Get more people into the zones? Let us raid into Freeport! Let us raid into Qeynos! Let the Qeynos/Freeport faction mean something again by giving faction hits/gains on the raids and instances. You had (and still have) a great opportunity to turn those zones into some really cool raids...but you chose not to.

So to sum up my feelings, your decisions on how to allocate resources has, in my opinion and for my playstyle, been extremely poor this past year. You've been allocating resources away from new zones/instances/raids and into things I don't want. Your past expansion was poor (at best). The one GU with new instance/raids in it was too little, too late. Take a look at your past expansions and compare them to your recent content. Its been lacking. The game now has the feel of being put onto life support with the minimal possible content being created.

Fendaria

Not sure if this is the right thread, but:

Played through all of the BGs last night. Overall, I was very happy to actually feel some lag in the zones and see people congregating in the hall. I saw a LOT of people from Nagafen (and at 3-4 AM too!) and that makes me feel like you guys really reached out to them and brought them in with this update.

However, I do have a few bugs to report. First, when you queue from the window for one or two BGs instead of selecting "all", the settings may not stick. If you close the window while queued, you're almost guaranteed to be dropped if you get up for a drink and aren't watching it! When you're dropped into a BG, sometimes your party's health is reset to something like 5-10% (red) and may not make it back up to full in time for the match to start. This also happened to my merc and I when we entered a player dungeon immediately after testing BGs.

I am seeing imbalances between the 92s and the lower levels, especially bringing in my 39 Wizard. I understand that if there was just a 30-39 bracket the queue may be long, but it feels like she was just getting pummeled every which way. I'm not a regular PVPer, so maybe that would have to do with people gearing their characters specifically for PVP - and having more experience. I'm dreading having to bring the Wizard back for marks, even though the gear would do her well!

A nice start. With some more tweaking this could be a regular new hobby for me!

Before Freeport & Qeynos were "re-vamped," I could run around both cities with no problem.

Now, post-revamp, I'm crashing constantly in both cities, due to running out of memory. I've crashed 4 times today alone; I need to CTRL-ALT-DEL to crash it completely, if I don't want to spend nearly 10 minutes waiting for my machine to quit chugging & CTD.

It's very annoying

My impressions:

Overall I have not seen much difference in the game pre and post game update.

I had to go in and reset all my char traits which was a chore but accepotable.

I can see some of the graphics updates for qeynos, but really not impressed with it overall.

The racial heritage quests are a fun diversion.

Having the BG tokens No trade is absolutly stupid

All tokens should be hierloom.

The Reckless stance is OP'ed.

Not that I complain on my 5 tanks, but give me the reckless stance for my DPS.

I would love to generate 80% less hate on them.

When the Freeport revamp came out I wanted to go to the city to see all the new items and it was cool to explore all the eye candy. With qeynos I feel like I have to spend hours to find something that might have changed. Just not impressed. I would rather you have spent the time revamping all the toons graphics and giving us more options.

Anyway, storyline is good. so that is my thoughts.

I'm very sad and I really hope some performance improvement to Qeynos occurs. Qeynos has always been the core of the game for me and I can no longer hang out there.

Even with only 12 players in the Harbor district, AND with my graphics bumped down two levels to "balanced" AND running or even walking, the FPS frequently dips to single digits, freezes up, and graphics pop in and out of view at ridiculously close range.

This makes it impossible for me to comment on graphics or quests. I posted before, thinking the poor performance might be the volume of players in the zone, but that is obviously not the case. Assuming Qeynos plays well on some systems, it seems like the minimum system for the game has been bumped up substantially.

I have a subscription through December so I won't be quitting, but the thought occurred. I had become resigned to losing Baubbleshire and Willow Wood, but I was unprepared for losing Qeynos as well. I appreciate that you retained the look and feel of Qeynos as far as I can tell, but I'm sad you made it unplayable on my system. But you have until December to improve that!

The storylines are...well, ok as it is, the quest rewards are rather poor though (from the view of a high level char, might be good for others). I would much prefer keeping the old suburbs like they were, instead of this "lets save some money and reuse old zones and pretend it is new content" kind of development though, we'd be just fine without the Qeynos revamp.

Fighter changes are poorly planned, there is a gigantic disparity between the different fighter classes (poor warriors) as to how much they benefit from recklessness. Does anyone even test this stuff before it is released?

The only thing I like about this GU is the focus changes.

All in all, a rather poor GU, 3/10 at most.

The Qeynos update is pointless. It now takes longer than ever to get around and the lag is horrible.

Why was the effort even made when 1001 other things in game need fixing and updating?

After having been gone around 3 years, I came back specifically for this update. I had run around the new Freeport before GU 64 dropped, and really was impressed at the improvements, especially the relative ease of getting around (I still get lost in Freeport very easily, but it's easier to take. )

After the GU went live, I logged in and found myself in The Thundering Steppes (!). I made my way back overland and got to approach Qeynos from the Highway and was visually impressed. On entering, I was just a bit underwhelmed. It definitely has a different look, but it seems more subdued now than it was.

I find that the real gem was the new quest lines. They engaged me to the point where I just wanted to get them done so I could see more of the story. The story for me ended up with a "one week earlier" feel, as I'd witnessed the little event at the palace before getting into the quest line. I had a lot of fun running through it, and was in tears laughing at the end of the last fight from the Firefly reference.

My biggest disappointment was the change made to Queen Antonia. While she did seem a bit more "human" during conversations (thought she was a bit stuffy in the conversations from the Shadow Odyssey expansion), taking away her signature outfit and replacing it with huge and heavy-looking dress was a big let-down for me, not to mention the changes to her facial structure and just her overall look.

All in all, I liked what we got (minuses aside) and I feel it was worth coming back for.

I posted this earlier, but got no response. I could've sworn my PoW gear had higher stats than after the patch. If not, some of the stats on this gear is seriously lacking. I have two examples below:

The stats for the three items are similar except for the PoW charm has very low DPS / MA. (Left to Right: PoW, UD HM, UD EM)

The PoW belt has significantly lower Attack Speed and MA (and also Block chance) than the Easy Mode Skyshrine one.

Note about the purchaseable rewards from the Armor and Weapon Upgrades merchant, and Silver players.

The level 90 tunic costs 24 platinum... however, a Silver player can only have up to 18 platinum. This means that it is impossible for a silver player to get their hands on that tunic, even if they could purchase the unlockers to get to that gera tier...

Edit: Same with any of the weapons.

I hailed several and they all said that they and several others were asked to join the Guard by the General himself. I didn't notice, but it may be that if you're a non-Ratonga, you're not flagged to "see" the NPC Ratonga Guard but you clearly see Cippin up in the Mage Tower since he's needed for the quest line.

But one thing that should be done is a finishing reference to the "misbehaving" Ratonga you take care of early on in the Ratona racial quest. The story veers of to left field when there's a connection to the problems Ratonga are having in Freeport with the Roekilliks (sp) showing their faces in the shadows. Seems to me that the NPC Ratonga (Tilla etc) would have some communication with the Freeport Ratonga considering it's all the "ancient enemy".

But, despite that thought and speculation, I really did like the quest and the turn of events.
