Qeynos - Why is Drinal mentioned in the oration?

<p>First off, if you don't want to see ANYTHING about the Qeynos revamp ahead of time, stop reading now. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" /></p><p>Secondly, I haven't run any of the Qeynos quests, but was running Tinkerfest on Test today and caught the entire oration speech. So maybe I'm missing something from the quests so far <em>(I have been filled in with the generic lore behind what's going on with the city)</em>, but I really don't understand why Kyle and Antonia both mention Drinal. Also asked a few people who have run a bunch of the quests and they're not sure why, either.</p><p>I logged everything but the first line of the oration, which was:Kyle Antihilus Bayle says, "Citizens! <p>Given the information on that post and the log you posted here, I can think of a current Norrathian power that would likely see Drinal as an enemy - Anashti Sul.   Her gig now is undeath, which would deny Drinal the souls he would otherwise usher into Ethermere.  Sul and Kyle also have a link through the Void and Theer, and certainly Anashti would love to see the folks who support the upstart Rodcet taken down.  So I could see this tarring of Drinal as being a lead-in to promising eternal life to the good people of Qeynos, allowing Kyle (and his supporting diety) greater leverage to take over the city.</p><p>Except, of course, Kyle also says that he suffers in his eternal form for the sake of the people.  Which would make the promise of eternal life a little less attractive, I think.</p><p>Now, why Antonia would also consider Drinal an enemy, I haven't the foggiest.  It sounds like we've missed info somewhere.  And I can't imagine it's a live event plan, since a live event that would lead into the Qeynos revamp would have to be active now and tested months ago.</p>

<p>OK, following up from earlier.</p><p>I think Kyle's core base of support is that Anashti cult glimpsed in the final world event running up to Shadow Odyssey.  You know, the one that was never spoken of again?</p><p>The one that's been running loose without much hindrance?</p><p>The one that probably supported his previous hijinks, just prior to Odus opening up?</p><p>The one that probably arranged for the Freeblood presence in Qeynos?</p><p>The one that the five rebel members of the Ten are probably members of...?</p><p>Interesting days for the Temple of Light.</p>

<p>none of the 'dissident' members of the circle are anashti followers.</p><p>most of the issue the dissident members have is Antonia's executive decision to join the Combine(aligned Qeynos with freeport/neriak/gorowyn) , her decision to send folks to rescue Lucan (rather then leave him and conquer/raze freeport) on the whole. some of them yes have particular barbs about the Freebloods and Ratonga, but not all of them.</p><p>Basically the Circle of Ten was running Qeynos until Antonia took the throne. and slowly but surely, she's been curbing thier power. they are beoming less a ruling body and more a council of advisors that don't have to be listened to. Some are looking to boost thier own political power/personal power.</p><p>Bellengere and Ironforge are examples of that.</p><p>Marik just thinks Antonia's gone soft against Lucan.</p><p>so they all got thier own reasons for dissenting. and Kyle has no connection to Anashti. his only dealings were with Theer...andhis deal was aparantly escape from the oblivion in return from bringing Theer Exonus.</p>

Antonia doesn't mention Drinal. I can see why Kyle would want to convince the people to consider Drinal as an enemy, as Drinal is the most likely diety to take his existance as offensive and do something about it.</p>
