View Full Version : Crashing when trying to login to the Test Servers

Hi all,

I recently had in reinstall EQ2, but I made sure that my Test was fully installed (and not streaming), preloading it's assetts and even validating them, but every time I try to login to Test from my EQ2 Launcher (Which is also being ran as Admin), it loads up but before anything shows up and the EQ2 screen is black and the EQ2 mouse is there, a moment or two later it will crash before the login screens even boot up.

Please help,

Curel/Leruc/Ragu

of Freeport, Antonia Bayle, Everfrost, and Test/Test Copy

I'm having what sounds like the same issue:

Standard game runs fine (I can connect to game and play my normal chars without issue)

The launchpad on my test server install runs fine and checks for updates / validates files / etc.

As soon as I click "Play" on the the Test server launchpad, however, the screen will go dark as if the game is launching... but then crash ("EQ2 Client Application has stopped working")

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium and Video card drivers are up to date

Per the instructions I found from SOE (on these forums, if memory serves), I initially copied my normal game files (wother than the exceptions identified in the instructions)... so at first I thought it might be some incompatibility which my "live" game files. i removed that Test install, redownloaded the client from SOE, and performed a clean install although still in the same folder as my first install of test (C:UsersPublicSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IITestServer)

When I look at Event Viewer, I see the error code with the crash is:
Faulting application name: EverQuest2.exe, version: 1.0.0.1, time stamp: 0x4fece67c

Faulting module name: EverQuest2.exe, version: 1.0.0.1, time stamp: 0x4fece67c

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Fault offset: 0x00708890

Faulting process id: 0x18bc

Faulting application start time: 0x01cd58ff27129c7a

Faulting application path: C:UsersPublicSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IITestServerTestServerEverQuest2.exe

Faulting module path: C:UsersPublicSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IITestServerTestServerEverQuest2.exe
A

Any thoughts?

One is a directx reinstall the other is to remove a UI customization file. Both are addressed in the above thread.

EDIT: To clarify, there are 2 issues. one is what you both describe which is fixed with a directx reinstall. The other is crashing after you choose character which is caused by the UI customization.

I'll give the DirectX install a try and report back. It's odd, however, that the "live" game runs fine. it's only when I try to connect to Test that this happens.

Hello Ragu! Sorry for the late response I was able to successfully log into the test servers therefore I'd recommend submitting a support ticket if you continue to crash. Please be sure to include your Dxdiag and Msinfo to expedite the process.
