View Full Version : Prime rare drop rates

I know class distribution of armor patterns was looked at, but I think you have issues still with the crafting materials. They're too rare for the level of the rewards, and certain components are stupid rare.

Let me frame my perspective here. I'm leader of Inner Circle on Unrest and we run 2 seperate raid forces and raid every night of the week, several nights of the week we have multiple raids going.

We're in effect clearing SS EM content 5-6 times a week as a guild. Every week since expansion launch grinding away at these encounters.

We have more researchers than most guilds, unlocked more recipes, and actually have disco'd every item we've made so far.

All that being said, we've looted in total 2 Prime dragon scales. So all those items on the scales that require 4 to craft? Impossible to make even a single item so far even pooling resources from multiple raid forces. In general, the ability to craft any of the items from resources is far too low.

I'm not saying these resources need to be peppered thru trash, but the mobs that can drop them should drop them closer to 100% of the time, we're seeing more like 30% chance on a resource to drop. You add in that it takes 4+ resources to make something, and these items might as well not be in game.

I could maybe agree with the rareity of the items if they were just 'that good', but all things considered, they aren't remotely as nice as the difficulty to craft one is.

2cp.

I completely agree and hearing how often your raid forces does this does not make me happy to find that out. I am pretty sure that no one in my guild has made an item yet. I am still waiting for 1 more prime drake fang to make a necklace.

I am also trying to make the plate shoulders and need 2 more dragon scales. I have gotten one, but still need 2 more. Not looking forward to that. So hopefully they will listen to your idea. Do 100% drop rates and have a named drop between 2 or 3 different items. Such as a dragon could drop either a prime dragon scale or prime dragon hide. A drake named could drop a prime drake fang or prime wurm tongue.

You still need 6 items to make one piece of gear and that is where it should take some time. Or keep the current drop rate and lower it to only needing 3 or 4 items. But I like the OP's idea better.

here is something i totally agree with atan on. rewards of this program does not match the effort. effort could be reduced thru several methods, such as mats required per combine, mat drop rate, mat substitution, research time, yelnars per clear, rare harvests required, even ts level req. personally i like matching the reward to the already crazy effort. make them myth items. its really illogical to get a raid drop that then requires work to make usable, which is then only raid quality. fabled drops that require more work should escalate their quality.

edit: i would love to see colossals sub as raid mats.

In the time I have been taking to get the components for the mage cloak, I have had several chances to get the drop mage cloak which has identical stats but a different proc. The crafted proc is nice, but the primary reason I am holding out for the crafted one is pur bloody-mindedness. I am determined to make it for my primary raid character, dern it, and not have the raid apprentice useful only for alts. Most crafting now is useful only for a small handful of appearance items, gear for alts, storage containers, and house items. The raid apprentice is one last chance to connect it back to the "real" game and not have it be just a side diversion.

I support the OP.

Considering you need 6 raid drops per item, the drop rate either needs be increased or the items boosted.

Was second person in guild to get raid apprentice, atm reasearching third recipe, and still waiting to see Prime Bone Golem Shard drop off of Sevalor/Gorescale. This is the only encounter dropping this key component, yet the drop rate doesn't even seem to be 50%. For our guild it's 0% after at least 10 kills, but who knows it might drop next 9 times in a row... lol

Can anyone confirm actually seeing Prime Bone Golem Shard ( NOT Prime Skyshrine Golem Shard) drop, and if so, how often does your guild get them ?

The recipes are stupid...

It should take 1 rare per to craft.

On the flip side we have gotten exactly 2 prime great dragon scales and a decent amount of everything else...only item we have been able to craft "fairly" regularly is the tank/scout ring and have dkp bid out to raiders bout 4 times. TBH at this stage with these recipies I am of the mind that every named in skyshrine raid zones should have a 100% drop rate for at least 1 prime item...even given that if you only run the em names in awakened and underdepths..at best you would only be able to aquire 11-12 items per run considering the number of items needed to make even 1 raid researcher piece this is in no way op....

They were put in to give something back to raiders who were also max level crafters but when you cant get the prime components to make many if not all of the items researched you aint exactly giving anything.

Now we are lucky if we even get one mat drop per raid instance.

Most of us have given up trying to craft something from it and the prices of Prime mats on the broker are insane.

Something has to be done, it is not sustainable as it is.

Cor

Prime Skyshrine Golem Core is for sale on broker on Nagafen pretty much 24/7, since it drops off of several raid targets, including contested x 2 Golem in SS.

We have several people in our raid force that have all the required components to make an item, but we are ALL missing the Prime BONE GOLEM SHARD, which ONLY drops off of Sevalor/Gorescale, we kill him twice a week since May, have not gotten one single Prime Bone golem shard.

This is beyond ridiculous. It's not like the crafted items are mythical quality....by the time anyone in my guild manages to get hands on that golem shard, we will be back into revamped Drunder HM, getting better drops then those crafted anyway ( i guess ..)

Thanks for yet another neat idea implemented terribly.

What I find funny about this whole situation is that there are a number of raid mobs that drop prime dragon scales, even most of those having 100 percent drop rates. The problem?, most all the mobs that drop prime dragon scales are not killed by the guilds that want the crafted gear. (Sevalak, Vyskudra, Kildrukaun, HM Dozekar) On a separate note, I still don't even know where you are supposed to get prime bone golem shards from, maybe some contested mob that I don't kill?

Too much crafting, too much high end raiding, or too much pvp. As things are, they tend to ignore 2 areas, and concentrate on just one, which tends to create tension between the various groups. There would need to be a way to split their resources, rather then ignore one group for 6-12 months at a time.
