Hi all

I've played Lotro for a few years and the clase I liked best was the Burglar (liked Gambler best) followed by Rune Keeper. Obviously this is a completely different game, but I'm tryiung to find a class that's of similar lines to my burg.

Anyone here that's played a burg that can comment please?

I'm edging towards a Scout Rouge as being my best choice?

many thanks

Joe

I played a little LOTRO but not a burglar... but I do know what you mean.

I'd say what you are after is probably either the Swashbuckler (good) or the Brigand (evil), and yes they are both Rogues.

Swashie does more AoE damage and buffs, Brigand does more single target damage and debuffs. Otherwise they are similar in that they do pretty high damage but aren't as position dependent as an Assassin. Scouts wear chain.

If you want something similar to the Rune Keeper, that would probably be either of the Druid classes, Fury and Warden (yes, Warden is a healer in EQ2, not a tank). Furies and Wardens both use Heals over Time but the Fury is also a mini-nuker whereas the Warden is Melee oriented. They wear leather.

There are other types of healers in this game also; although the Dirge and Troubador resemble the Minstrel, they aren't used as healers, although the Dirge does have one heal spell, and can resurrect single target or group in and out of combat. The chain wearing Shamans, Mystic (good) and Defiler (evil) ward (prevent loss of HP) against damage and debuff mobs while their pets fight also and help buff the group. Mystic is melee oriented and Defiler is a caster, not much dps but great debuffing. The plate wearing Clerics are the Templar and Inquisitor, which cast reactive heals (damage occurs, reactive heal replaces part or all the lost HP). Templars are totally oriented to healing especially well for the main tank. They can cast damage spells but usually cast debuffs on mobs that force heals. The Inquisitor is almost as good a healer and is a very strong melee oriented buffer and very decent dps. Many folks consider the Inquisitor to be OP and very desireable in groups; their surviveability is fantastic. I've had mine since July 2005 and been with him through thick and thin.

Many many thanks Leeroyx.

Very very helpful

Now all I have to do is decide whether to be good or evil. Why is it that even though I'm nice in real life (honest), I always edge towards an evil character

best

Joe

At this point in time Swash and Brigs can be either one. The only 4 classes that are still good/evil aligned are paladin/shadowknight and necromancer/conjuror.

I beg to differ, Ashlie. There is one "set" in each archetype that is good/evil

Mystic/Defiler

Paladin/Shadowknight

Conjuror/Necromancer

Swashbuckler/Brigand

I was playing a brigand in EQ2 when I rolled up his equivalent in LotRO and chose the burglar: comparable single-target killing ability, sneaking and all that. But the parallel dies quickly, especially if you're running around in in a "gamble" stance. Many of the Burglar's Fellowship abilities compare to the utility of Dirges or Troubadors, which I've only seen friends play, so I can't comment specifically.

I've yet to play a rune-keeper, but I think their damage and healing abilities would compare to wardens.

It's hard to compare the LotRO classes to the EQ2 ones...
