Will get a watermark if it's the demo, but it's better than nothing. Pretty cheap program though, so one can buy it too and remove that stamp. A friend and I were planning on collaborating on a dungeon for the contest, would this be possible? We'd expect it would count as the 'one entry' for BOTH of us.

Is this going to aim at a solo player or group? IE: i can make it tough but doable for a solo player but for a group it might be a walk through slaughter or make it tough but doable for a group but not possible for a solo player.

There are some severe issues with placing effect objects in this dungeon. I assume that this will not only affect my contest entry but many others.. heck, how many people will be unaware of these problems? If you're submitting a dungeon for the contest, please double check your effect objects!

I made as detailed of a list as I could regarding them, which was too long for a /bug report.
I submitted a bug report for my dungeon. Not one single flavor text is showing and flavor text is vital to sharing a story. I've been having such a blast putting the dongeon together but would love for them to look into that!

This is messed up. I am done with some major rooms in my dungeon and I am starting to place out effect objects, but they do not work in many areas. The cicrular hole in the western end of the western room won't work to use them in, and the entire eastern room can't be used with effects objects. What is the point of having a competition like this where we are supposed to design a good dungeon when the tools to do so are broken?Had broken rooms in other dungeons as well where they dont work but this is extreme...An entire 1/4 of the dungeon is more or less unusable now...

I thought maybe I was the only one having issues but it appears this dungeon has many bugs. Here are a few bugs I have noticed.

1. NO flavor texts showing (not a single one)2. Effect objects not having their intended effects3. Mobs in stairways disappearing through walls

Since my dungeons usually have a somewhat comical theme to them, flavor texts are vital to my theme.

Effect objects are also vital to the action in particular dungeon areas, so this is a huge problem as well.

As for the disappearing mobs in stairways, well players won't see them until they aggro through a wall on top of them.

I've noticed that some mobs (at least the flying ones) placed on the circular bridge would go down to the grass room below, pulling all mobs from the bridge once engaged. I had to run pass the grass room and move into the next corridor to avoid getting killed prematurely.

I'm not touching the entrance. At least this is one of the dungeon layouts that let you back in after dying. Lair of Scales dungeons send me to the twilight zone.

And thanks for telling about the effect objects. I was going to put in large mobs with level down effect.

First off, thank you for all the detailed /bug reports, and Cyliena's excellent summary. These have been invaluable for our Dev Team, and the epitome of constructive feedback. Simply telling us we suck, on the other hand, is not particularly helpful. =P

Sorry for not posting earlier, but the EQII Devs have been actively looking into these issues since Piestro and I got into office this morning, diligently examining the issues. As you know, EQII does regular hotfixes, so stay tuned and we'll let you know as soon as we have an update!

Dungeoneers: I would suggest that you continue to decorate and populate dungeons while we work on this internally, and then add the effects and double check dialog when able. Everyone is on the same playing field here, so there is nothing to be lost in proceeding! I know how much time it takes to build these amazing playgrounds (hence my second dungeon going on three months under construction now, hehe), so don't waste any time!

For those of you who have already submitted entries, remember that you can go back and make changes right up until the challenge ends!

Again, thank you for all your help.

/salute

;-)#

Brasse

Among the glitches effecting the ability to create a creative dungeon (in the poets palace layout, and all the others as well), is the glitch that has made it so players will always revive at the "default" entrance location instead of when the dungeon's builder choses to put the entrance.

Personally this ruins a lot of the ideas I have tired to and want to use. What is the point of being able to move the entrance to where ever you want, if players are going to just respawn at the default location? It also often makes the dungeon un-finshable since the builder didn't design things with that respawn spot in mind. And it severely limits the possibilities for creativity when we can't effectively chose where the dungeon starts

I'm still going to see what I can put together for this contest (getting a late start dang it), but this effects me even more then the other glitches Poets Palace has been getting

Brasse: I went through and tested the fixes that went in today... it's much better but there's still some glaring issues. One of the worst that'll affect people in the contest at this point is probably the non-functional flavor text. They can be found here if you want to be so kind as to pass on the word again to the appropriate powers-that-be: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=518860

I would love to enter this challenge were it not for the fact that you guys still have yet to fix the Ress location glitch that happens when someone dies in a Dungeon Ive made. This glitch has kept me from publishing 3 dungeons I have already created. I cant even test run them without eventually end up being ressed right in the middle of one or more mobs clusters. which basically means I have to close eq and relog.

I was happy to see that it isnt happening in the dungeons that are already published and was excited to finally publish mine. But once again I cant even weed my way thru fine tuning them. Which gives me no assurence that it wont happen to whoever comes into my dungeon. And i didnt waste weeks of my time just to create xp debt for others and generate unlike votes across the board. LOL. You know what Im saying. So I hate to be that girl but check you specs please.

I'm in a similar boat with some of the others. I got a dungeon for the contest, but I used minimal decor, mostly relying on a few written books and flavor texts...without the flavor texts it kinda blah's my concept :/

I have spent days working on this dungeon. I created a whole upper level floor for one room out of tiles, and no matter how high I make this floor, the mobs aggro to the floor below or aggro from the floor below. It doesn't matter how high they are placed in the air. They still aggro. I don't know what to do because I will have to rip up my whole idea and start over if the aggro range isn't fixed or if at least you start selling an aggro range reducer effect item. I want them all to stay on their respective floors and not have vertical aggro issues. It kind of ruins the whole design if you come to visit and the whole room decides to come down and visit you. Then when you reach the upper level none of it will make any sense because it will be unpopulated. Please tell me what I can do to fix this. I need to do something fast.

Also, I am not AOEing anything. I am just running to the area where the mobs on both floors would be standing and they come down from my false floor to visit me. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't my casting spells that did it. I am just running over to their spot.

On a side note, if I place a mob anywhere on an object I put high into the air (namely false 2nd floor) the mobs drop through the floor unless I set them on patrol. They kinda look silly all pacing back and forth but it was my only option. I want them static and not falling out of the floor.

I have two questions. If we unpublish this dungeon and republish it after the 10th to correct i.e. typos and similiar, will it get disqualified or can we continue editing on and off after this date?Second question is, if we DO get chosen as a Dev Pick, can we unpublish and redesign in the dungeon without losing the Dev Pick status?

How?When you reach HoF with a dungeon and unpublish it, and re-put it up again, as soon as it gets a single vote, it once again goes back to the HoF list.I hope Dev Picks work the same. Once you've gotten it, you can republish the dungeon and get it back there again. Also the dungeon maker will continue to get changes and additions, and one want to keep one's dungeons up to par with that. I had to take down Delving into the Depths from the HoF list and re-tweak it once they added the second set of effect objects into the game to keep it updated.I really hope that won't affect it. I can understand if they don't want you to edit the dungeon between 10th june and the date they are done with the evaluations, but editing it after the competition is over shouldn't punish you.

This poet’s place has four poets residing in it. There is the Master Poet and his court; Poet of Despair, Poet of War, Poet of Nature. Each poet has their own suite of rooms and lackeys which verbally taunt the avatar. A solo avatar can make it through but will die one or two times. An avatar with a wide swing might bring in separated mobs in the center room so to truly experience the layout it is best to try to avoid wide swings in that room. Hope you enjoy it.

Thank you

Oldmandove

Stonebeast

Everfrost

ps I did not know how to include jpg screen shots in this reply, I would still like to be in contest.
I cannot figure out how to post screenshots to this. I finally figured out how to resize them correctly, and now cannot copy and paste the images. I click on the insert/edit image link above, but it asks for an URL. They're not published online, so where do I get an URL? And I couldn't even copy and paste to the space for the photo. So, what's the deal??? Should I assume this contest is meant only for completely computer literate people?

I know it's now past the cut-off date however real life intervened and I was unable to put in nearly as much time and effort as I wanted. Regardless I did get the basic work done on my dungeon (even if I didn't get all the fine touches in place) and wanted to at least share it even if it's not ellegible for consideration as part of the contest

Character Name: Teircen

Server: Antonia Bayle

Published name: An Unexpected Discovery

Brief description: Your avatar plays the role of a brave adventurer stumbling upon a quest to save a damsel in distress (of sorts)

Screenshot:

Can we get an official statement on the flavor texts?I am worried they will not be included in the judging of the dungeons as it stands now.Checking patch notes each day for a fix, but nothing...Will this competition really be judged from a broken dungeon?

Well, our dungeon was designed to not use flavor text because of its problems. We may have been able to make it cooler with proper flavor text. So, we think either way...someone is not going to feel this contest was fair to those of us that spent the time to try to really showcase custom player made dungeons.

While I'm sad flavor text isn't working, and I did put some in mine, has flavor texted ever worked in any dungeon? No one I know has gotten it to work consistently yet.

The flavor text displayed upon attacking the first mob. In Poet's Palace I have yet to see a single text after running through it 4-5 times while testing.

Well, it's been a blast! During this building period you all faced the same obstacles equally. If I were to attempt to add a "spin" to this, I would pretend we left those in as an additional "challenge" to your skills - but then you'd hunt me down and drown me in a vat of my own beer, so instead I'll thank you for your patience, your bug-reporting and dedication to excellence throughout. Again, what you manage to create, even in an imperfect environ, is nothing short of inspiring. /bow

The deadline has passed, so I am now going to lock this thread and we'll get busy on our side, evaluating your entries!

I can hardly wait to see them all.

;-)#
