This should be an interesting one.

I just hope they don't mention "Qeynos revamp this summer, more Velious content after that!" Because we've known that stuff for a long time now.

I'm hoping to hear something about heroic scarecrows in Antonica returning. I'd buy a multi-month sub just for that.

Now that we have adventure potions on the market are we going to get crafting ones as well? I know quite a few crafters willing to part with a lot of SC for these

There are items being used in game that came from POW that were reforged and after the changes were implemented on test and it was discovered what could be done a concious effort was made by some players to reforge gear giving them an unfair advantage over others. Whether or not some/any/all who did this knew or not is not up for debate.

SOE why will you not remove the reforging on any POW gear, put the item into overflow and alert the player that due to a bug in the reforging mechanic the gear was manually restored and reforging costs were refunded?

Information referenced from this thread: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=518597

Feel free to ignore, but some of these have been on my mind for awhile and, since you've given us this chance, I thought, what the heck.

I was a *huge* fan of EQ1. My (ex) husband said that I treated it like a huge, graphically enhanced chatroom, and I did /laugh. I would sit in PoK for hours giving buffs, going on rez runs and just talking with people.

EQ2, while much better in some ways, is terrible with regards to socialization and, while there are definite advantages to soloing, it's hard to level certain characters without groups at higher levels.

Is there a way that we can have quests that, if you are part of a group when you get them but you come back later and are solo, could be *tweaked* in such a way as to be completed solo? For example: in groups, you split the XP among the groupmates and the challenges are hard enough for the group to have fun. But if you don't complete it with a group, that the XP would go to regular soloing but so would the challenge.

Another is, can we get class/role specific quest lines? For instance, if a shaman/mystic wants to roleplay as a true shaman, which means no killing of bears or wolves or killing in general, can we get quests that are focused on non-killing of 'regular' targets.

... While EQ1 has gone to Free-to-Play as well, I have a very difficult time unlearning everything I've gotten used to in EQ2. Are we ever going to see a version that melds the two together? Taking the best of the best of both and merging them into an EQ3?

I would also like to see more realistic recipes for tradeskills. I mean, yes, roots are a low level item, but roots should be used in higher level recipes as well, AND be able to be foraged/gathered in higher level zones so that higher level toons aren't over-running the newbie/lower level zones.

Also, you are doing it with the mercenaries and such NPCs now so, is it possible to create NPCs that give quests to you that actually JOIN your group (and interact with?) to complete the quests? Like... a group of D&D people have to achieve an objective and some times are joined by characters played by the DM to complete that goal and then they leave - usually. I would love more interaction with NPCs, not only as someone you pay to act as a tank or healer for soloers, but for fun of quests as well.

Items in houses can be moved back and forth and turned around horizontally and made smaller or bigger. Can we add the ability to turn them vertically as well, please.

One thing I like to do, is to /bow, /salute, /flirt or whatever with NPCs, just to RP or to break up the routine of just talking to something that's not going to respond in any other way a bit. Could we add NPC responses to PCs for more 'realistic' interactions? Just for fun, possibly for 'unknown' quests or rewards or even storylines.

Despite all of the above, I want you to know that I really enjoy playing. Thanks for a great game

Jill

Graphics. In the begining, EQ2 was touted to be a graphical revolution for multiplayer gaming having features so intense even the most current hardware at the time could not take advantage of every option. The makers talked about how in the future the technology would finally catch up allowing those with high end systems to experience EQ2 in all of its glory. Even now... this is still the case... players with even the best gaming systems still cannot take advantage of the full settings (primarily shadows) without rediculus frame rate drops. This is because the makers of the engine messed up big time not considering the future going towards multicore processing rather than one faster and faster core.

Once and for all are you going to do anything about this so that people who are running SLI and core i7's can actually get 60 fps with max settings including all shadows on?Also: You disabled shader 3.0 even though it was partially implimented. Why not reimpliment the unfinished product so that players can decide wether or not they want it on even if it does look really bad in certain areas.Shadows can make even the most basic textures in games look like gold. It truly is an opportunity to modernize the engine so that EQ2 can finally do what the original designers intended: to scale up graphically for the future.

Cinnimon your post is REALLY hard to read with the tiny writing and multiple colors. Might I suggest highlighting the whole thing, and click the little white eraser looking icon on the bottom row of your edit window.

Seriously, bad ideas are bad."

@Poldara There's no need to belittle other peoples' ideas like that. Seems to me like such comments are characteristic of what a Troll would do. You're not a troll, so there's no need to stoop to that level.

@Stardrama I think you have some good ideas. My Main is a carpenter, and as a carpenter, you get to thinking about how things would look in your house and guild hall.

I too have been thinking that with every house from the Newbie housing in Qeynos and Freeport, to the richest prestige housing offered, one should have the option to switch out patterns for the floor, walls, and cielings.

With Qeynos and Freeport housing, the tool to switch out the textures tends to double gouge you though: First you have to pay for the pattern, whether you use it or not, then you have to pay a price to apply the pattern, these I can do without.

With this tool, I think a good idea would be to have the option to load tiles into it to be applied to floors, cielings, or walls. So if you want a red marble floor for your Sathirian throne room, now you can click on the floor, load the tile you want, and hit apply, and watch it lay the texture out and not have to worry about placing each tile exactly edge-to-edge, and without that flicker affect when you accidentally overlap tiles.

Speaking of tiles, what really sucks about tiles and other building block type objects are that each one placed takes up another slot space in your house. Books are not counted as taking up slot space, so why should building materials be counted as used slot spaces. If you want to make a new floor like I did, you should be able to without fear of consuming slot spaces. In fact, when you make a new floor, you should gain more slot spaces.

As far as moving objects around, yes one should be able to rotate the object on any angle of any plain of any axis. There should be a built-in layout editor that allows one to see a map of the house and place objects as if you are placing 2d objects on a 2d map. The map should allow one to see the furniture layouts from a top view, front view, back view, and side views. You should be able to do smart tiling from this map, Highlight individual tiles for moving elsewhere or to send it to the moving crate. Also, you should have the option to resize any object to your specifications without size limits. Objects should be groupable for easier moving and resizing. Object groups should be nameable for ease of identification. This built in layout editor would be a great way to replace the current layout editor, as it'd have the same great features, plus more, all built into the game, without the need to switch between the game and the .net interface offered.

Stardrama wrote:

This game is great!

Adding solo adventure options really made a difference for me.

Seemless Freeport was outstanding!
More than likley it is simply an announcement about the rollout plans for EQ2 in regards to PSS1 and the servicing changes for those based in Europe. They simply don't have the resources to do much in this game anymore.

That being said, my one questions would be at what level they see the game topping out? Is it 92? 94? 100? etc... Rumor is that they are constrained regarding the ability to make mobs above level 100, which means that if we advance much more then the mobs are going to have to challenging in ways other than level.

Hello and thankyou for doing this. I played eqoa when it first came out and on and off EQ2 over the years. I just had a few questions for the future of EQ2.

1. Is there ever going to be an EQ or EQOA Next for ps3 or computer, or should I be investing the next few years of my time and money into EQ2?

2. When I returned to EQ2 these last two months I got the feeling that you guys are investing heavily into EQ2 at SOE is this a sign that the population is strong and its gonna be that way for long time to come?

3. In regaurds to Dungeon Finder, is there any plans to perfect this system and have it work flawlessly anytime in the near future? It was one of my favorite features to find when I returned, but I would sometimes find myself wasting over an hour trying to que up and get sent to a proper dungeon, I'm hoping to hear your words on the future of Dungeon Finder.

These were my top three questions, the third one is probably my most important short term question, other two are my long term ones. Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions.

P.S. I see Dungeon maker is getting an upgrade for lower levels too, are we able to level with higher lvl players now? Is that what the talk was on that and are people going to be able to run regular dungeons now with higher level players like 90s and 80s together while being just as effective together as if it was a 90 party?

So with the latest GU, I have seen nothing but flying mounts being offered from the new content. What ever happened to variety? What happened to "No one type of mount is to be considered 'better' than any other type, they're just a different style"? Seems to me that when you ONLY give out one type of mount with the best stats possible, they become "better" mounts than any other type. At least in the first half of velious you gave us a couple ground mounts as well as flying mounts. I absolutely hate using flying mounts and will only use ground mounts unless I NEED to fly. I hope this doesn't continue in the future.

Most of the people here are asking for candy, when other people are starving for meat and potatoes. Housing, character customization, etc are extra's to add a little flavor to the game. The core of the game, is... *gasp* adventuring.

Everyone wants more actual content. Raid, group, quest content. People that don't want to play this game like it's the sims online want that. While playing this game simply to socialize and to decorate a house all day is fine, it should be secondary to everything else.

My questions to the devs would be this.

1. Why are items that affect game play being added to the station store when it was promised to us time and time again that nothing would be added that would impact game play. Examples, rez/heal potions, potions to speed up spell mastery time, etc. Is the need for the dollar going to drive sony to start releasing gear for players who have more money than time to buy? That's the way im seeing it going so far.

2. Why spend time developing places that within a week or two nobody cares about anymore, for example, freeport. People ran aroudn there a bit, and nobody cares now. It's a lot of wasted manpower imo, and from a lot of people i've talked with.

3. Raid guilds are dying left and right. Old raid guilds that have been around since the start. Raiders are quiting in droves. What is SOE going to do to keep raiders from fleeing this game in droves?

Question #1: Have the in-game polls changed the EQ2 team's focus on developing different parts of the game?

Question #2: Is there any chance we can get more of a dialogue or communication about Itemization? What about bringing back Developer Chats and monthly Q&A's?

Question #3: Whatever happened to the EQ2 Influencers/Summit program? Other SOE games have a group of players who provide feedback on the whole spectrum of gameplay from solo to group to raid to crafting. Could we see something like this come back for EQ2?

Question #4: With the exception of Data Feeds and a podcast or two, most EQ2 Fan Sites have had little communication with SOE and the EQ2 team over the past 2 years. 9 months ago at Fan Faire, we heard that Fan Sites would get some love. We're here, and we'd like to be involved!

Question #5: Withered Lands and Skyshrine content has some of the best art design and content we've seen yet. However most of it is much much easier than Drunder. Was this a reaction to player feedback? What content do you see players doing from July until the expansion?

Question #6: Is it a new long-term strategy that Mythical weapons are available from group and solo content?

Question #7: EQ2U and other data feeds-powered websites would love to be able to show Quests and Recipes! Soon? Soonish?

All this new quests and gear from Withered lands is awesome. Skyshrine is great fun for a quick solo mission or even with a buddy. Where is the new PQ going to be.. can we get get something like a Combine assault on that Storm Dragon to defend the camp. or maybe a mini PQ raid on Kerafym in the near future. plop it right there in the middle of the swamp.. have Kerafym prismatic dragony burn the mobs there so we can fight without adds for a few minutes.

dont make him scale down if there isnt enough people.. make him a pure X2 so the raid guilds can have the X4 to themselves ( just a thought ). but give him actual RAID GEAR if he is a solid raid mob with RAID tactics and only accessible twice a day or something.. not every 2 hours.. even 5 times a day would cover most time zones.

If letting him drop raid gear would be a bad idea.. then how about 1 white, 1 yellow and 1 blue scales for a fighting him off that can be exchanged for shards from the appropriate merchants. That makes him wanted for shards and no gear gets into the game without raid access to him.

Trying to get more of the PQ fun from Great Divide, i even like the PQ in commonlands.. just dont get must time to do it at the moment.

When are we going to see anything to encourage grouping at all levels?

Currently grouping except at cap is discouraged by the XP penalty for groups both mentored and un-mentored: the XP for a kill is divided between the group members making kills for XP that can be done solo better without a group.

Was it intentional to have the current overland content to be for 'fluff and flavour' and not to be beneficial to leveling towards cap?

Currently, if you want to get enough XP to get to the new cap, you need to go do conent 2 - 3 years old.

Example: On Rijacki, I went through the full Waking Lands questline + the tradeskill quest line from level 90/290AA with the slider at 50% and have only gained 7AA and about 75% toward 91.
Just a couple of things I wouldn't mind seeing in the near future:

1) More solo content in Skyshrine. I rarely group, but love doing the Skyshrine missions. Problem is after I've completed it for the day I have to wait until the following day to go back.

2) Where are the PQs that were mentioned when GU#63 first went live?

3) With all the decorators adding floors to prestige housing, how about adding different styles of staircases? I've seen the stair tiles, but I think an actual staircase with railings/bannister would be nice to have. The can be carpenter made, or SC purchased. And have a variety of different kinds: marble, wood, stone, mixture or these.

Thanks

Anyway, ditto on the tradeskill quest criticism.

Exactly what people have been asking for them NOT to do since the Freeport revamp. *sigh* they just don't listen, do they.

Guess I had better get all of the newbie racial flowers I want before they do that.. and say goodbye to Baubleshire and Willow wood. :-/.

On the second part, Kaitheel promised us that the items would be moved to housing merchant when it was first announced. I brought up the subject in beta but the Freeport racial items had the same graphic as existing items so it wasn't needed but it's definatedly planned and I'll be sure to push for it when it's on Test.

In 2 sentances, they managed to crush every hope those that loathed the Freeport revamp had, aka:

“The neighborhoods will be used much as they were used in Freeport as adventure zones (...) Flying is not possible, and it’s not a starting city.”

I'll say once more what I said in the Freeport beta boards: could we at least get a tourable version of the suburbs. A bit like the "flying tour" was added to KoS when the portals were made, removing the flying clouds. It gave us the possibility to enjoy once more the flying around. It would be nice to get a "tour operator" somewhere that would ask you if you want to tour the old suburbs and you could choose a suburb and cross a magical portal to the place. In the best option, this portal would allow group/raids to zone in, so we may experience the area as a group.

For example, my guild on live was for several years restricted to Females Teir'Dal. We had a lot of meetings in Longshadow alley and it was always a pleasure to go there and meet. The tour operator may allow us to reenter Longshadow Alley as it was, without those filthy Cristanos worshipers and use the place to hold ceremonies for new members and paryers to Our Father Innoruuk.

On the "it's not a starting city" part... The outroar when Freeport and Qeynos were removed as starting cities was massive. It was one of longest thread on this forum ever made at that time. Tons of players hated the change. Tons of suggestions were made for allowing them to remain in game, like needing to have played for quite some time (vet reward unlocking it) or having to have reach max level on a char with a note that the starting area is out of date. Using one of this solution would make your veteran players happy.

If it's not possible, we could imagine them being added to the tour operator I was speaking of, eventually using a chronomentor system like in the live event that would bring you to level 5 and allow you to play the zone (only the first quests are grey at level 5 but you can still do them).
