My son has a bronze account right now. He lives in the US and I am overseas. I would like to upgrade his account to a gold account but am afraid that my CC might lock his account due to it being issued by a local bank and I would be applying this to his account from a different region than what he signed up in.

Could anyone tell me if it will lock his account? If so is there a way that I can do this for him through Customer Service?

Thank you

I had this kind of problem with my wife's account. Her account was in another currency, then when she moved here, they locked her account because it was being played from a US IP and still in her countries currency. We called customer service, they changed the currency to USD and then it went through.

So, I BELIEVE if he is in the US and his account was done here and is USD on the account screen, you should be able to pay for his account with your card. If his account was signed up for over there, you will probably have to call customer service and have the currency changed on the account.

Not sure if that makes sense as I'm only half awake. Hehe. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

My suggestion would be to call Customer Service and talk to them about it.

You could even just get SC for your son and have him get gold through the Marketplace.

Thank you to those that have taken time to reply.

@Rijacki - I thought about that but I still need to add my CC to his account to purchase the SC so I am thinking it may cause the same problem.

@Tylia - I am thinking this may be my best bet...hope there is no queue...LOL...international dialing isn't cheap

I think you can do (live) online chat with CS. Someone can probably confirm.

Firstly, The company SOE uses (Global Collect I think) needs the card, IP and currency to be the same to work. I had an english account, english currency but moved to Australia and I couldn't pay using my uk card in uk money because the IP wasn't in the UK. I had to email CS and they changed my currency and area to Australia. Now, with SC, you can pay with Paypal, and you can pay Paypal with a credit card and no account and it doesn't have any of these restrictions. So that's the best bet unless you don't mind your sons account details being changed to your overseas country, which may cause problems later on.
