Hello all,

I have the Steam client and have been encountering random crashes for the last few weeks. Today has been the worst with 3 crashes in just a couple of hours. I have no idea what is causing it. Aside from the random crashes, whenever I /camp desktop or exit the character select screen the client will crash. For /camp desktop, the crash occurs as the client is attempting to naturally shut down. Here is a log file of today's crashes. Any help?

05-05-12 01:04:26.956 8900 Error Connection::Read Disconnected: this=0x305-05-12 01:04:26.957 8900 Warning Service::CleanupDeadConnections Cleaning up dead connection: (*i)=0x305-05-12 01:04:26.958 8900 Warning Service::ShutdownSDK Service Initiated Shutdown: this=0x2c11d1405-05-12 14:42:28.259 7496 Error Connection::Read Disconnected: this=0x305-05-12 14:42:28.260 7496 Warning Service::CleanupDeadConnections Cleaning up dead connection: (*i)=0x305-05-12 14:42:28.260 7496 Warning Service::ShutdownSDK Service Initiated Shutdown: this=0x3fe1d1405-05-12 14:43:36.581 8536 Error Service::Run this=0x3de1d14,e->ToString()=C:srcbuildtoolsbranchesvoontmpvkchm1src vivox.systemtcpsocket.cpp(256) : VivoxSystem::TcpSocket::TcpSocket - error 3003Internal ErrorC:srcbuildtoolsbranchesvoontmpvkchm1srcvivox. systemtcpsocket.cpp(256) : VivoxSystem::TcpSocket::TcpSocket - error 1004805-05-12 16:46:03.636 3212 Error Connection::Read Disconnected: this=0x305-05-12 16:46:03.636 3212 Warning Service::CleanupDeadConnections Cleaning up dead connection: (*i)=0x305-05-12 16:46:03.638 3212 Warning Service::ShutdownSDK Service Initiated Shutdown: this=0x3d51d14

This happens to me every time I exit EQ2. /camp desktop, /quit or even just clicking the X in the top corner. I don't think EQ2 has closed correctly in quite some time.

The crash on exit has happens to me anytime I opened the ingame browser while playing. Been like that since they fixed the ingame browser to not crash the game immediately when viewing sites with flash on them.

This game has become pretty unstable lately. You see people going LD all the time - upon zoning into an instance, zoning out, after evac or even while fighting.

We just had 4 people crash 5 times in the Skyshine 1 instance

Vivox is the voice chat, so you might try disabling that in options.

Since it happens when the client is closing though - are you a silver player? If you are it could be a browser issue since the game tries to open a webpage when silver players log out.

Nope, paying Gold member. I've also noticed a problem with zoning in to instances, mostly housing. It doesn't cause a crash, but it gets stuck on "Waiting for zone server" and I'll have to exit out of the client and reload. This doesn't happen as often, though.

I've got the same problems, gold monthly here and every single time on exit it will crash! and recently I've been crashing while logging in, not often but it's happened a few times, I also as mentioned before, get stuck with waiting for zone server and can only get things to work by exiting and restarting! another major pain I get is after zoning so many times, could be 5 could be 20 I get stuck for a while with loading ui resources, which is a major annoyance.

The game has been crashing for me since Saturday and it will crash when I do a few things such as camp desktop, fight, or zone, and at times when I am just sanding there. On top of the crashing my graphics are glitchy as well. It would be nice if SOE would post some kind of update when we start the launch pad with telling us about the problem and when it will be fixed, I get very tired of sitting her wondering what the problem is and when we might get it fixed to where the game is playable, I pay to play this game and I can understand it being down or buggy for a day maybe a day and a half but for me this is the end of the fifth day that I have not been able to play due to crashing and bugs. It keeps up and I will cancel my account. The least SOE can do like I said is put info about what is going on and when it will be fixed on the launch pad.

My client crash everytime I try to exit game, wether I do it without camping or from the char select. This has been happening for about a week or more.

Most problems I experience happens on zoning.

Zoning takes a lot of time sometimes, not always, but now and then we are talking minutes, sometimes we just have to force quit and start the client up again. Some guildies has the same problems.

My kernel yadda yadda driver resets often in game on zoning into mostly houses and guild halls. More rarely when not zoning, but it does happen. Until SWTOR I only ever had this problem in SOE games, but WoW, Rift and a couple of other MMOs have not had it happening, so I assume it is something about how graphics works in SOE games in particular. In SWTOR it happens once in a blue moon, but on EQ2 I can not play a couple of hours without it happening.

Graphic has always been glitchy here and there (some bottom parts of Solusek Eye is really bad to the point of group members having to autofollow me to get past some points there).

My machine is up to date on drivers and applications, fairly good hardware since I have no patience and use it for multimedia production including video editing - and it is dusted out every other month. I can box most games or run two game side by side with it pretty much without having issues beyond what I already have with just one SOE game client open.

I get an Appcrash when I camp to desktop whenever I use the in-game browser (at least that seems to be the reason). No problems while I'm actually in the game. No problems zoning, camping to other characters, etc. I'll have to test to see if it just happens when I browse to a specific site, such as one that just has Flash content.

I have the same problem from time to time - Game will crash when attempting to camp out to desktop. However my crashing problems are much more severe. I often get blue screen crashes!

I thought it might be something hardware related. I have a somewhat old PC. The technology of the PC is about 7 years old. Uses a AMD Athalon 64 with a GeForce 7800 GT video card. Performance is acceptable while game is running, but because of the age...I couldn't really be sure.

So I ran to Best Buy and picked up a new cheap video card (GeForce 520) but still get Blue Screen crashes. So I can rule out a hardware problem from my video card.

EQ2 is the only 3D application I run. I do have Steam and could play various 3D titles from there, to see if I crash in those games. I haven't tried that yet, but it would at least rule out hardware problems or video driver issues.

I saw a thread on it a few days ago, and the tech poster basically said that it's at your own risk.

I don't use Steam, but I've experienced a few crashes a day for months now. It doesn't have anything to do with your computer, as many have echoed. It's just the way it is. EQ2 is, what, 8 years old now? I love this game, but it's become one of the "just gonna have to deal with that" problems, unfortunately. I've talked with people who are running three year old and brand new computers, updated and not, and everything in between, and everyone gets the error from time to time.

Edit: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...99

TSR-JoshuaM wrote:

I'll send out a request but we do not support the steam overlay and I cannot provide any direct support for it.
