Once, just once, I'd like to be in control of 'the button' when NPU is raiding.

ETA of server up? It's my day off!

Oh gods

Glad hubby needed me. What did you do to the server message hamsters? Could you at least remotely care?

Maybe the server got a new babysitter?

It's a TEST server for Brell's sake! Perhaps a copy of TEST but nonetheless a TEST server.

One expects such a server to crash at any time, go down for no reason and without warning and, yes, lose data.

Playing on TEST or TEST_COPY is a challenge. They are not the live servers. The unexpected and/or unwanted is normal.

Umm. Yeah. Ok. We totally didn't know that already.

I'm with Cloudrat on this. Test is my only server and I pay full price, on two accounts, to play here. I have had the server down so many times, without notice, when I've wanted to play that it is hard for me to even remember I still play EQII. I was just thinking today what a mistake I made paying for a year in advance on one account. And I so rarely get to play on my primary account that I'd be better off paying the $5 to play when I'm sure the server is actually up. Like now, do I start reading a book, watch TV, or wait in hopes the server will go up? If I knew it would just be a few minutes I'd just wait. As it is, I'll try again and then do something else if it isn't up.

Thing is, we're not in a testing phase and since last year, we always get the hotfix after live (or nearly so). So there is absolutely no reason we can see to have the server go down for extanded time.

Anyway, when a server goes down, it's usually appreciated to get a server message and also nice to get some kind of update when the server is late going back up.

For example on Storms not long ago we had a EU server crash and half an hour later we did have a tech explaining that it crashed and they were working on it. Yes, an exception, we don't often get notices on EU servers either. But still, some kind of warning and notice later are expected. Especially as a warning gives the possibility to see the difference between a server downtime and a player-induced crash.

And we're speaking about Test, not Test_Copy, we are Test residents, we know how it works.

Oops, sorry, just realised that may be the problem: we're Test residents, we're not random copies while in a testing phase, so we don't deserve any attention/notice/basic curtesy.

This happened after years of tackling bugged content that received insufficient attention from the EQ2 team. I know you were being catty, but there is no reason to think the Test server is alone in this regard.

That is such a shame. When I first left end game raiding in EQ and came here I used to wistfully follow their progress and often, very often, thought of apping. I hadn't realized the raiding side of the game was in that shape.

This game has evolved in a way I don't think anyone could have predicted. It's been interesting to watch. I don't decorate houses but man, oh man, is there ever some talent in people that do. And who'd ever have thought when the game first started that that would become part of the game. Like any other company - they put their resources where they expect the most return for their money. It's too bad one part of the game has to suffer while another gains attention.

But I'm enjoying this GU (and I had my doubts for a while that I would) and it looks like a lot of time and effort was put into the mid-game. Hopefully that level of playing is going to continue to be supported - I sure do love this game!

Hum...

Could we get a server message when Test goes down? Server kicked me and is now locked. I would have liked to know it before starting to play (that is, if downtime was shedulded)
