Was working fine a few hours ago, now when I try to play, it wants to pre-load 14gb of assets. I never use the streaming client, so when I click play I get this error message:

Launchpad is configured to use streaming assests but there are non-streamed assets present. Do you wish to change configuration to use FULL Download?

And when I click yes, and I re-launch the launchpad, i get the same message.

edit:

I guess hitting cancel allowed me to log in...which doesn't make sense. I didn't see the streaming dragon. Went into the launchpad options and my full download button was unchecked...which was weird because I never ever use the streaming client.

Even "we know about it and are working on it" would be better than nothing. Do they know?

I just did a ful reinstall this last weekend and finally got my settings back to where I want them. Now, I can't even launch the game through the launcher, have to use the exe file, have lag out the yingyang, and I'm going to have to do another full reinstall tonight. Why can't you guys ever do anything right the first time? How about you hire someone who knows how to program?

Been a few days now, surprised there's no red name response on any thread or any announcement. What gives? I don't want to re download the whole freaking game.

check your directory for the pak folder. if its size is 14gig dont play the game until the issue is fixed and or make a copy of that folder. if it has been reduced in size to between 20-70mb then you might be S O L

Found a fix for it this...

Start by going to your patcher and ensuring that "Full Download" is checked.

Then close the patcher and go to your EQ2 directory, and delete the contents of the "assetcache" folder.

Relaunch the patcher.. and... it will return to normal.

Really weird... but it managed to get the game back to its regular state again.

I'm redownloading the game. My game folder was down to like 2GB or something, maybe lower I forget. So bad... I hope this doesn't happen again. No suggestions in this thread worked for me btw.

I was playing fine, had to relog into the game and had this happen to me. On inspecting my PAK folder it is now empty! What is happening?

This is awesome. Log into one account then out to try and log into another account and now I'm streaming. Paks is emptied by logging out and back in? Nice Launchpad. Hope you pat your selves on the back regularly because you won't be getting any from us.

Reposting from the main thread:

MattMeyer wrote (edited):

Yeah, I caught wind of this last night. There is some code that is trying (incorrectly) to detect what version it thinks you should be running and making bad things happen when it tries to fix it.

We are working to address this issue in an upcoming patch. Meanwhile, if you get this error too, do the following: In the LaunchPad, if you are in streaming mode, open the Advanced Settings menu, Select Game Version, and check the FULL ASSET box. Let it finish patching the pack files (if you are done patching and it says preloading assets then you are finished...you dont need to wait for them) then close the LaunchPad. Before launching, go the game install directory and DELETE the assetcache folder, assetslib.vpl, and !RunUntilLaunch.dll.

Locate the LaunchPad.ini file and make sure it looks exactly like this:

[Settings]digestURL=http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/launchpad/lp4-live/live/lp-eq2-full.sha.soeappName=EverQuest IIappIcon=EQII.icoid=eq2width=917height=638options =tcg:1,full:1[Logging]Address= lvs-gt-els01.station.sony.com:20060[CrashReporter]Address=recap2.freerealms.net

Once that is done and verified, relaunch the LP and you should be back in Full mode. If you do get that popup that says a configuration error was detected and do you want to change modes, just CANCEL it. It should go away with the next patch.

We're verifying these steps, however this is a fix that one of our developers got to work last night. A great place to get LP related issues addressed is the Launchpad Discussion subforums on the Station Forums. We'll continue to look into these issues and get them addressed as promptly as possible.

Thanks,

Piestro, my Launchpad.ini looks exactly like the one you posted.

I don't have any options in the launchpad to switch the download mode, I didn't get any error messages and yet since today I'm seeing the little dinosaur downloading stuff upon logging into the guild hall and then again when I tried to zone into my house, etc etc...

My paks folder size is 13 GB and still I apparently have to download EVERY SINGLE zone I'm trying to enter.

We've got a fix for this scheduled for early next week. You should be able to follow the steps posted above, but we do have a permanent fix on the way. We apologize for any inconvenience.

As I scan through the foren, including FR and DE, it seems that a few of your solutions suggested to fix this issue locally by the customer is not working reliable. Why is it not possible to run a fix for the EU servers until Tuesday when a fix for US servers was run pretty quickly after your team finally realized the magnitude of this issue?
