Ok I have this weird problem with EQ2 atm. I can only connect through VPN nowadays but that aside here is the problem.

I can startup fine, log in patcher , check, patch game, check, startup game , check, then caching appearances only goes to 80% waits a second, and goes on to the next step loading zone i think. Now the real problem, Creating entities just 'hangs' at 0, nothing happens for about 30 seconds orso. Then the login proces continues and I get the the char select screen, but i see no characters just a nice message saying 'Lost connection to the server' . Oh ye , great, just don't reconnect or anything , only a button exit. Very smart guys, very smart.

Ok little addendum, during the freeze of the creating entities , i do get the walking dragon from time to time downloading, so I do have a connection to some server. Is it possible to add a try to reconnect button on the last dialogwindow, instead of only an exitbutton.

I will put money down that is why you have other problems because the traffic is not making it back to your computer.

I'm not sure if you know how a VPN works or not but it creates a virtual private network (VPN) tunnel to the site you are connecting too. That means all traffic leaving your computer routes from your internet provider to the VPN endpoint (office or whatever your connecting too) and then out their firewall and Internet. Traffic comes back the same exact way and has to rotue through multiple endpoints and network changes.

I would find a way to connect without using a VPN. More then likely something is closing a port (your rotuer or internet provider (doubtful)) which is preventing traffic into your system.

I need to use VPN because I can not connect to any SOE service without. SOE or some other entity decided to block all traffic from Asia to SOE over night.

The dragon indicates you're on the streaming client, and the fact that the same entity resources are consistently not being loaded may indicate that you're either running the game in sandbox mode or that your virus scanner may be deleting key streamed assets.

You may want to try the full download version of the game, and make sure you have exceptions set for both launchpad.exe and everquest2.exe in your Antivirus software, as well as disabling it's sandbox mode feature.
