Here are the April Update Plans for EverQuest II!

The Skyshrine update (GU 63) is taking the lion’s share of the team’s focus right now (launching in mid-April), but other things are still happening as we continue to smash bugs, improve systems, and look to the future of EQII!

The team is busy reviewing GU 63 feedback and making tweaks, fixing bugs, and still adding new goodies to the content – and there is a LOT of it – one of the biggest ever done on EQII! I want to say a big “Thank You” to the community too. We’re very grateful for the support and constructive feedback we’ve been getting on the Test Copy server and forums and ask that you not stop now! During this month we’ll be doing interviews and giving detail on what is being added to this monstrous update because there is plenty to say. The more we see the final touches the team is doing, the more excited we all get!

Holly “Windstalker” Longdale

Destiny of Velious and More While the game update continues the Destiny of Velious story, we want to make it clear that there are also additions that support other features released in Age of Discovery expansion, like tradeskill apprentices, new Dungeon Maker map and decorations, new creatures for Beastlords to tame, and a new elite mercenary. In case it hasn’t been said enough, we are going live with this exciting update on April 17.

Test for the Best We are thrilled at the participation we have seen on Test Copy and the feedback has been great. The team reviews the content, feedback databases, and forums daily. We encourage everyone to participate and contribute! Please check out the In Testing forums for instructions on how to copy your character and access Test Copy as well as zone access and testing baubles to set you on your way!

Bristlebane Celebrations Begin! It’s time for mischief, pranks and fun in honor of the King of Thieves, Fizzlethorpe Bristlebane! Starting at the end of March and kicking off at full steam on April 1 - 12, tricksters of all shapes and sizes can enjoy the return of the holiday with new features added this year, including a contest in Enchanted Lands, new tradeskill recipes, and more!

Limited Time Bristlebane Marketplace items! Just in time for the Trickster’s holiday, we have a couple of items on the Marketplace that will be around for a short time starting April 1. The King of Thieves’ childhood friend and mount has been revealed and in honor of pranksters everywhere, and a Jester costume is available. Get them while you can as they will not be offered after April 12.

Spring Fever Over the Easter holiday, we will have some fun Spring items for sale in the marketplace as well as some pretty big SOE holiday promotions. Everyone will get to enjoy double experience over the weekend too!

Qeynos City Festival This month, the Far Seas Trading Company is headed to Qeynos! The city festival kicks off on April 1-7.

Behind the Scenes While the Game Update content itself is pretty obvious, the team is also making some exciting changes to the game code and making improvements. Pathing was one of those changes, and we’re always working to fix bugs and improve the game. As we said some time ago, in addition to game update features, our engineers, artists, and designers continue to fix Live issues and bugs – even some pretty old ones! And at the same time as all this, we are planning well into the future for EQII with plenty of lore, concept, and feature meetings. It’s a great time for EQII!

Maybe for the April update plans we could include the actual items from March that were not updated... I at least HOPE they are carried over even if they are no longer important enough to take the vitural space, maybe beneath the fold as it's not really something you want to be acknowldeged... but we're not dumb. So, two out of the three items planed for the Match update were completed, not counting city fests, moonlight enchants, Brew Day, or Portals since those are all recurring (a new word) events.

DOV Dungeon Timers Reduced to 90 Minutes!Get prepared for the next Game Update and gear up in Destiny of Velious group dungeons -- timers are being reduced from 18 hours to 90 minutes! (Scheduled to launch in 18 days)

New Pathing CodeIn exciting code news, new pathing is on Test right now and we're hoping to bring that to Live when it has passed rigorous testing. For those who don’t know, “pathing” is what the monsters and pets use to travel from points A to B in our game.

Bye-bye Crit MitThe Critical Mitigation stat removal change that is on Test will be going to live servers this month. This does not apply to the PVP Critical Mitigation stat.

How can we trust that the April updates are going to take place if all the March updates didn't take place. Are we even going to see everything that you promised? It seems that you rely so much on the "community" but don't really help us nor support us. You give us false promises to updates and then either don't do something that you say you are going to do, or either push back the date.

Shouldn't have GU63 be fully developed before it goes to test? It seems like you push a half built product out to test, and then wait to adhac the rest as you go. Even Microsoft isn't this bad about deploying a product. You promote GU63 like it is the best thing that SOE has ever done, but yet I feel like you have enough time to come up with more content then we are being provided. My personal vote on GU63 will be... Failure, not sucess.

I have a 90 tailor and I would love love love to be able to craft appearance stuff with my tailor (i.e. not artisan sub-10 recipes) that me and other players would actually want. I have a 90 alchemist and am very very tired of alchemy being the one craft with no attention and, other than fighter experts, nothing to make that anyone actually wants. I have a 90 carpenter, too, and.. well.. carpies have gotten the most attention of all the crafts and they do have a wealth of recipes, now, that rival the Marketplace stuff and can make far far far more items than are sold and keep getting more items added to their recipe books (building blocks recently.. those, too, should count in the "any chance we could get a 'few' items..." counter-arguement).

People won't wait forever, they'll leave or go to another MMO or whatever. Why not release in-between GUs since it's PVP-based and won't affect the PVE servers? Especially if GU63 is full of stuff already.

SOE seriously needs to fire the brass that is forcing the devs to push out content faster than it's ready. I know such a person exists, because such a person always exists at every company on every project. They always care more about dates than they do about quality. I know it's not the devs themselves, and I highly doubt it's even SmokeJumper or Holly. This one person that's telling them to release whether it's ready or not is destroying the game, the community, and the SOE brand name.

I've been a loyal customer for over a decade now. I played EQ1 for nearly 10 years, and EQ2 for over a year now. And honestly I'm not interested in putting up with this for much longer. You guys have made so many awesome comebacks and kept giving us hope, but it never lasted

I've been promised personally by SJ and others that we could expect reitemization fixes and Phase Two the first thing this year after AoD released. It's completely dropped off the radar. I can get no response from anyone regarding Phase Two now, and I saw nothing about it in the plans for the year you released. There is a lot of broken content that has yet to be addressed.

I'm sorry guys, but the "here's a new shiny!" routine is wearing thin and we're not falling for it anymore. Again I am not blaming the devs. I still believe the devs really do care about this game. I am directing this at the brass that is so focused on money they can't even see all the loyal customers they are losing - the same customers that have done more to bring in new customers than any of SOE's marketing. If SOE doesn't so something about this soon, they won't have anybody left willing to give them any more chances.
