Red Welkin is a raiding guild playing in Asian time zone. Most of our members are from mainland China, and some from HK or TaiWan. We just love this game, love to play this game with each other, love raiding with each other like a family. All of us have own job, our guild is best place to enjoy time for most of guild mates when we get off job.

But members from mainland china got a message said Invalid username or password when we try to login game and website since Tuesday update, no problem to login through VPN. It's obviously SOE blocked chinese IP.

I know there is some problem with gold farmer from chinese bothered this game, But not us. and now, we all got blocked. Most of us paid charge for years, and dont want to pay extra charge for VPN, Its not fair. even we bought VPN just for lag NOT block, its not fair.

                                                            Fyang Officer of Red Welkin.Unrest

Er you might not want to automatically point fingers to a IP area block/ban because all you are doing is causing problems and possibly mass panic with the Pro-crud going on.

If you can log into here, the forums there isn't a problem with your name/password so you should be able to contact them my e-mail. Maybe they can figure out what is wrong.

This has been an issue before and there was a thread posted on it earlier today, maybe yesterday.

Unfortunately it may be the Chinese government that is doing the blocking, that would be the first place I would think.

I think its login system block me.

I wouldnt be surprise if SOE has decided to block chinese IP but knowing china's respect for liberty i dont know who i want to blame. Both have shown they ll gladly stomp civil rights.

Fryang is right. They did block everything Asian. I am an expat living and working in China for several years now. I have been able to play Everquest1 and 2 without any problems up to 26/3. Played on that very evening, closed my computer, opened it the next morning to check Broker sales and bye bye connection to SOE. I can not connect to anything everquest'ish.com anymore without using an IP mask.

Very unlikely that it is blocked by Chinese firewalling programs. Like I said I was able to play before without any problems. Now I have to use an IP mask program to even be able to connect to the darn forums. Still will not working for gaming though. Kinda odd that with a ip-masking program SOE site lets me in but with a Chinese IP it blocks me.....ye, just blame the Chinese government ehuh. They are not blocking Everquest.com ( im guessing they even have no clue what everquest is).

An IP ban (to my knowledge) displays differently. In any case continue with your support contact and request a deeper look in to the matter if you're having issues still, if there is an IP ban in play we should be able to address it.

Ok , I can't seem to get the problem across at CS. They give me to standard shoo off with you stories. Forward my ports ? why, i didn't have to before, why should it be needed now? Fine I'll forward my ports, OH surprise surprise no help there. Guys , SOMETHING IS BLOCKING SOMEWHERE. I startup my VPN and OMG I can connect just fine, routing from USA, Japan or whereever works fine. Oh and btw before you start pointing your finger at Chinese firewalls again, if that was the case i would get a totally different message. Like trying to connect to Youtube (Which is banned).

If I connect to Youtube, i dont get a message in my browser ( Like with EQ2 site, i get lookup and connecting messages) , just plain no connection.

I am about to throw the towel on this game, and trust me it's very hard for me to abadon this game, but I have been fiddling aruond with settings since 26/3 and I still can't play. Through VPN i can connect but somehow it freezes at creating entities for a minute, then loads on to char select and gives me a Lost connection to server message. VERY FRUSTRATING

Yes , I can connect to SOE/Everquest(2).com but only through VPN. I have to route my data through anything other than China and I'm fine. Problem is I can't play through VPN for some odd reason. Somehow it freezes at creating entities for a minute, then loads on to char select and gives me a Lost connection to server message.

I heard it is the same on Everquest1 since 26/3. So come on SOE get off your lazy bums and investigate the matter. Log onto a VPN and create yourself a nice Chinese IP and try to log on your own servers for a change.

I also doubt it's at SOE's end, rather I wonder if EQ2 has been added to the list of social networking sites blocked by the China.

And my sister was blocked from EQ2 for over a month and she lives with me in PA ... yet our other 3 pcs were fine playing it.

Ended up being a combination of her hardware/software updates, anti-virus (PC Tools mainly) and how the game was routed which was blocking her.

And yes, getting through to CSR took quite a bit but there IS procedures that need to be done to narrow down what it could be.

OK I am here tring to be helpful. I wrote to the TSR, waiting for response. But I would still post here for more discussion.

The problem we encounter without VPN:

1. If you didn't save name / password in Launchpad, no matter what you type ,you will get

"there was an error completing your request. Please try again "

2. If you DID saved them, you will get following error when clicking "play"

"there was an error completing your request. Please try again "

3. If you run "Everquest2.exe" in directory , You will get following error

EverQuest II has detected an unrecoverable error and must shutdown.

G:liveeq2gameclientsrcClientApp.cpp (3794): Failed to open streaming asset database.
Since Mar 26 or so, SOE has been banning log ins from Chinese IP's. This has nothing to do with the chinese goverments firewall, there is a perfect connection between China, and SOE servers.

As shown above, what happens when you attempt to sign into any SOE game or SOE Station website, is that you are lied to and told your password is wrong.

If you use something like a proxy or VPN and appear to come from another region, you can log in and play SOE games and sign in to you account on SOE websites normally.

This ban/block on the region was instituted by SOE, for what I can only guess is the prevention of spammers/farmers/etc. after the most recent (EQ1) free to play conversion.

SOE staff has mostly stopped responding to this issue.

http://forums.station.sony.com/stat..._id=11500040797

Protip: Use whatever VPN or similar type solution you are using now to get past SOE's block. After signing in to the patch, and the game loads up to server select --> tab out and disconnect your VPN or similar service --> once your normal connection has resumed you can click on your server of choice and play as normal.

The "ban" is only on the log in portion of the games and website services.

Perfect World entertainment does the same thing on their website and games to users from this region, as well as several free webhosting services as well that I have seen. (Meaning: lying to users about the password being wrong when sigining into their accounts, but working fine when spoofing the IP of another region).
