"The Skies are Not Safe!" - Wow, this is REALLY annoying. Basically it's more efficient to use a ground mount in this zone then our special mounts that we quested or purchased. Awesome.

Pathing Issues - My mercenary is randomly aggroing on things not even close to me (Guardian one). Sometimes it's things that another player has pulled, even if that player isn't nearby. The merc and mob pathing is pretty bad.

Zone walls - What's the point of letting me climb/leap/fly way up on the wall if you won't let me OVER it? The ceiling needs to be higher so we can pass over these instead of be forced down a winding path. (example spot: -2800, -511, -446)

Withering Shrubs (harvest node) - These seem a bit difficult to interact with.

Weather - It seems to rain very briefly quite often. Very sporadic. Intentional? (rain also carries over into some caves)

More Pathing Issues - My mercenary disappears (gets lost in geometry maybe?) for a short while entering and leaving caves. Happened to me at the corrupted protector of growth cave at -1944, -597, -909.

Sanctuary of Mourning - There are no NPCs here even though there's areas that appear set up for some.

Tears of Tunare - Toxic Roots (harvest node) that are under the "water" here do not have their name above them and are difficult to find due to that.

Achievements - There is no achievement for exploration nor for questing.

Village of Alivan - guards aren't aggro but everything else is?

Zone to Skyshrine - You run in midair to here.

And yes, at one point while hanging out on the zone wall trying to leap over I thought I saw a dragon flying around. I assume that's what makes it not safe.

Out of curiousity, is there a reason that we're helping droag after only ever slaughtering every single one that's stepped near us before? Dragons or not I can't recall us ever liking the Droag.

"Preserving the Flank" This is the quest where you have to cure the 5 meats after Porto Bunglefoot gives you the items to craft with. I had one failure while doing this and came up short on high quality salt. Not quite sure why, I have 1 left in my bags and the recipe calls for 2 of these, I received 10 at the beginning of the quest, I should have none in my bags at this point. However, my problem is that I didn't get anything in return when I had my failure and am now unable to finish the quest.

I've spoken with the quest giver and she just tells me to return when I finish (or some such thing) and I've looked for fuels in the vicinity around her to see if there are ground spawns, but I can't find any and I can't seem to find a vendor to sell me the salt.

Am I missing a vendor to buy the salt from?

What else is aggro in the Village? The only things that should be are the elementals and the stormwings. The villagers aren't trying to run you out of town, are they?

These droag have a different story... but don't worry, I'm sure you'll find plenty of droags to stab later on.

Thorncreep is a 93^^ Heroic and I took him out easily with my level 90 fury in Ry'Gorr gear. Fun little fight with the adds spawning, but I'm not sure if it should be that easy, He doesn't hit that hard, and I could burn him down not much slower than the average trash mob in Mourning Lands. Had 2 adds up when he died.

EDIT:

Jenluk the Vigiliant was also a very easy kill for a 93^^ boss, went down even quicker. I remember having much more trouble with the equivalent overland named mobs when I started DoV. This character isn't in raid gear or anything too uber.

As for The Skies are not Safe! debuff - I'm going to risk getting flamed and say I LIKE the start of the zone not being so easy to fly around. Why should everything be easy? It shouldn't.

You can still fly, I stay fairly low. If I get knocked down I just glide along the ground for awhile until it's "safe" to fly again (debuf wears off). I like this idea, it's part of the story.

I have started the quests and seen mention of the dragon not letting anyone into the sky, and a hint that this needs resolving. Sounds like fun to me.

The rain, fog, lighting and sound effects at the start of Withered Lands are cutting in and out very abruptly. Compared to in Freeport where it's a much smoother transition. Now I know the dragon is causing it intermittantly, but I think it still needs to have a bit of a fade in/out time.

The horse travel system in the zone is horribly slow. It makes me miss the lengthy scenic tours of Odus because even with a less-than-direct path, it was still much quicker. Is there a way to speed it up a little? Or make some flying towers, at least?

Heads up - I put merchants in the zone. There's a food and general merchant in the Combine Camp, a banker, broker, and wholesaler in the cave near the camp, and a collector that's part of the Deepwater Circle. I put a Supplier in the Combine Carvan (to buy and such), and another general merchant in Alivan.

Let me know if you see anything glaring that's missing.
Potential major issue with the 'can't fly here until you do a questline'... there are tradeskill quests at the back of the zone and you can't use the transport until you've been there.Has anybody test to make sure that a high level crafter/low level adventure can get and do the tradeskill quests without getting flattened? One of the great stengths of EQ2 is that tradeskilling and adventuring levels are not linked. All past tradeskill quests in high level zones have been doable by low level adventures. Please check to be sure this is still the case.

We're playing deity here for the first time and controlling the weather. (Kind of fitting since we can turn on the lightning to strike the evil pose there) We'll do our best to tweak it to be a smooth, fun effect but do keep in mind that it is more "by hand" in this situation as opposed to Freeport. I was looking around the Combine Caravan where the icon is on the map is, and couldn't see anything for ages. Call me stupid but I was looking for a HORSE. Eventually I found the post.

So the posts really aren't standing out at some locations, it depends on the background terrain. They're small, thin and dull coloured, and blend into the brown too much. Could you put a horse alongside the posts? They stand out much better. It's definitely on the holgresh attackers, not sure about others. It's a noise made when they attack, like it's meant to be a sword swipe or something. Ran Covenant District [Challenge Mode] earlier and noticed a few things. -An Osseous Destroyer, some of these mobs (about 4-5 in the zone) have ridiculous hp. Some upwards to 190-200mil hp. -Captain Veezaran Veeshan Scale, first things first this boss and his adds hit insanely hard. ACT registered various hits ranging from 50-200k on our bruiser tank. In addition to this the strategy is to burn the adds as they spawn (every 90%, 60%, and 30%) to remove the boss' limited stonestin (95% damage reduction). The problem with this is it is nearly impossible to kill these adds as each one of them have well over 250 MILLION HP. We tried this boss numerous times w/ me solo healing the encounter (25k+ HPS on a 6min fight...W T F) and every time the tank would appear to get 1 shot out of no where. -Trash in here are very social and which make agroing 2-3 groups at once a frequent occurrence. -HM Trash that spawns the dome of death actually has a red text attached to it unlike EM. I also noticed in the HM Version of Covenant Sector my heals/wards were only hitting for 50% of what they normally would. My gear is exactly the same and I had close to 400% CC which is more then enough for the zone. I will be going back in tonight to complete this zone as well as the EM/HM versions of the 2nd zone and will be posting about them if I run across any problems. Nena, of Black Flag on Freeport.

When ever the dragon flies by, I get the red text saying that the skies are not safe. This forces my character to the ground. Actually, this makes my character fall to the ground. It doesn't make sense to me that even though I'm still on a gryphon, I decide that I should give up my life and fall to the ground because a dragon is in the sky. I'd rather deal with the dragon than fall to my death each and every time it flies by.

Hope this doesn't come across as whinging, (that's not my intention!), but... will you be adding a more direct route to Withered Lands later? Maybe a druid ring in the forest?

Because it's currently rather long-winded to get to Skyshrine:

1. Zone into Great Divide - either Ring War by painting or the druid ring.2. Griffon ride to Thurgadin Docks.OR:1. Zone into Thurgadin by painting. 2. Run and zone out of Thurgadin.

3. Griffon ride and zone into Withered Lands, griffon ride descends to Foothold.4. Horse ride across Withered Lands to Alivan.5. Drakota ride and zone into Skyshrine.

It adds up to a longer route than getting to Kael, for that you can jump into Eastern Wastes and then it's just one long griffon ride.

I know there's stuff like the guild banner (once one person has made the trip) and Call of the Veteran (but hey, we don't all have that!) But I can tell you that quite a few of us on Test have been using the house visiting "feature" to warp to guild hall for banker, etc. then warp instantly back to Alivan or wherever afterwards. If we're regularly using this unofficial travel route, then that suggests something is less than ideal about the intended route. And if such an unofficial route exists anyway, why not make it less painful for everyone to get there properly?

In part the problem with getting to Skyshrine is there's no direct route to Thurgadin docks to start with. If you're reluctant to add anything to Withered Lands just yet, then maybe an alternative approach would be to add a travel bell to the Thurgadin docks?

Would be interesting to hear what your intention is with this.

EDIT:

Hmm... a druid ring building event as part of restoring the forest later would be cool... put it in one of the sanctuaries, near a horse travel post...

There is something I'm bringing here that worries me a lot.

I've done all current 3 contested raid mobs (raptor, honvar and hexapola) and so far, they are all a big joke.

Worst, rewards are incredibly more powerful than any EM stuff available in-game atm and it is expected that both x2 (raptor and honvar) will be on a 18 hours timer.

That being said, few issues appears

1- Considering the gear don't get nerfed and interest serious raid guilds, mobs will be camped and I'm ok with it since it's the purpose of new content.

2- Super fast timers makes farming easier for an entire guild but on the flip side, create an important risk of perma camping by the same uber guilds....

Just wondering if it would be possible to consider adding a sort of timer (like instance or whatever similar) to force some teams to wait for a certain delay, let's say 2-3 days. I think it would be good for a few simple reasons.

1- Atm on our server, we have Strike perma camping Soren and none of the other guilds who have the team to kill it can take a try because they make the encounter reset until people leave, and/or they go cry at GMs. Tbh, I'm paying the same price for this game than hardcore raiders, I think I have the right to take a shot at those contested mobs, especially when they are that easy (gu63 ones).

2- Based on what I explained in 1, players who want loot from contested are forced to buy it off SLRs of the guild perma camping the mob. Same thing, I pay for the game, I'd like to earn the gear by killing the mob myself and looting it...

PS- Not here to throw rocks at Strike or other hardcore team in general, I respect their dedication to the game and the efforts they invested BUT we all have the right to attempt the content too.
