That bug with the mobs surging forward then back seems to have re-appeared.

I've noticed that if I range pull (with bow and arrow), then melee hit with ability+equipped daggers, then debuff, then a spell ability, then a ranged ability, about the time I hit the ranged ability, the mob has moved forward and then either moves back to where it was or basically gets the same distance it was from me on the other side of me.

This mostly happens when not on level terrain and I am at a higher position in the terrain than the mob I'm targeting.

(will edit and update with names of abilities and weapons being used)

Ok. To update the above:

The order of attacks and what is being used when I observe it.

Ranged attack (Outcast's Bow of the Darkness with Plain Adamantine Arrow)

Chaos Anthem III (Grandmaster) (Damage over time)

Sandra's Deafening VII (Grandmaster) (melee using Sharpened Kukri & Ulteran Embalming Knife offhand)

Depressing Chant VI (Apprentice) (resist reducer)

Perfect Shrill V (Grandmaster) (Direct damage spell)

Singing Shot Vi (Apprentice) (Troubador special Ranged attack)

Ether right when Perfect Shrill hits the mob or sometime between than and hitting Singing Shot, the mob surges forward and is too close for ranged shot. It either returns back to its original position or keeps going until it is directly opposite far enough away for a ranged shot.

I've notice that it happens when there is a difference between the height of the terrain I'm on and the terrain the mob is on during combat.

Pathing related... and I did /bug this. The glitch with summoning my beastlord pet to me is still present on Test.

I'm running somewhere, he's running after me but lagging far behind.

I get into combat, the pet is nowhere to be seen.

I use the ability to summon him to me.

The pet appears at my spot, then immediately starts running away, back to (I presume) wherever he was when I summoned him.

That's sadly a long standing bug, it happened a lot to my live necro and my test conjuror. It derails from the huge speed boost the horses got. If you go way too fast for your pet, he just kinda looses itself and when you summon he goes back to where he was then come to you. I went better with the T8 & T9 pets who got a speed boost, so I think all pets should get a 130% speed boost so they can keep up.

Also, was your warder in combat with something else?

I don't think it's technically a bug, just not behaving the way you'd want and catching me out. It does only happen when you get aggro on something you're moving past.

My pet is set to follow me and protect me (but not protect itself). So you're travelling (in my case on a jumper mount) and clip a mob and get aggro. You keep going, but the pet is staying to fight it. Some distance on, you attack or otherwise get into a fight with another mob. So you summon the pet to your side. The intention being for it to fight with you on your current mob. But it immediately runs back to the location where it was presumably in combat with the first mob.

It's probably behaving as spec'ed in keeping it's target. But not really in the spirit of "protect me" and the description to "attack anything that attacks you" because at this point the mob next to me is attacking me and the distant mob is nowhere to be seen.

Either way it feels unnatural to have to tell it to back off (to get it to run back to you again) and/or explicitly command it to attack the mob that's currently trying to beat you to death.
