The older versions came on disc and you can find them around. But if you use one of those, you'll still have to patch a lot ot get to the current version.

I don't think AoD released on disc at all.

That said, most of the EQ2 game can be found in the 'assetcache' folder in the EQ2 directory. If you're looking to backup the game you can burn those folders to disc. Or copy the entire EQ2 directory to an external harddrive.

GL finding the most recent expansion available in a store. Even then, you would still have to patch in so much stuff.

There's no real need to have a disc these days.

If you need to reload from scratch it's a very big download, but you simply download the patcher and run it, you could even use the streaming patcher if you're keen to play right away, but I'd always recommend the full download.

If you want a back up (or to move to another computer), you can copy your entire install directory on to a disc of your own. It's better than one pre-packaged because it will have your personal settings as well.

SOE games (currently) don't install anything into the registry (thankfully) so you can run them perfectly fine if you transport the install directory from one computer to another. You just have to make your own desktop shortcut

The game is 14GB, so you could buy a USB drive and back it up to that. Then if your hard drive crashed you could simply copy the files from the usb drive to your new hard drive, download the launcher, point the launcher to your existing files and voila, you're back in business.

A 16GB USB drive is a whopping $12.99 and a 32GB one is $24.99 on newegg.com so it's not a bad investment if you have a slow internet connection. Personally, it took me over a week to download EQII on my "rural broadband" $48/month only thing available other than dial up but some times it's actually worse than dial up crap internet connection.

I have an exernal... but, no cord to plug it in. Another reason to visit Best Buy... hopefully to find a cord. I have 100's of movies and thousands of music files... pictures and other stuff.
