Same here. And when I check LaunchPad.ini, I find this:

[Settings]digestURL=http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/launchpad/lp4/live/lp-eq2-ext.sha.soeappName=EverQuest IIappIcon=EQII.icoid=eq2width=917height=638options =full:0

The last line seems to say the launchpad's been reset to the streaming version. Except I've never installed the streaming version, it's the full version. And with raids, I can't afford the instability of the streaming version. And I've got a raid in... 70 minutes. Not a good time for this.

Addendum: I went back to http://launch.soe.com/eq2/ and re-downloaded the Full client, and installed it into my existing game directory making sure to do a new install. Once I'd done that, it appears to have gone back to the full-download client again.

i directly ran EverQuest2.exe to bypass the launcher - it then gave me prompt about launchpad settings wrong

I did all this and it still wants to download, but no longer as assets. So I guess it corrupted and hopefully this total reinstall will fix.

Yes, reinstall worked and no dino or streaming.

But looks like from this post http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=514292 that it can happen again, as it's been happening to others randomly it seems since January, so not just the latest update.

This happened to me also today and made me 20 minutes late for our raid, 14gb download and is streaming even though I have the check box in options unchecked for streaming download.

I had this issue this morning. I think the problem happened because the launcher suddenly decided my launchpad.ini needed to be updated. Here's the excerpt from the ".DownloadInfo.txt" file:

**** Starting at Sun Feb 26 11:14:08 2012 with plug-in 1.0.3.170 ****0aec-00:00:00:Checking game installation...0aec-00:00:00:Found 2 file(s) to update.066c-00:00:01:Replacing eq2_default.ini07a4-00:00:01:Replacing LaunchPad.iniFinished downloading 860 bytes in 0.180 seconds (4,777 bytes per second)0aec-00:00:01:Beginning asset preload...

After I downloaded the full client and did a "new install" over my old EQ2 directory, the preloading went away.

Well, I just searched my Everquest II folder for "launchpad," deleted every file that came up, then deleted !RunUntilLaunch.dll, and reinstalled the launcher. When I run from EverQuest2.exe it runs streaming, but running the launcher makes it start to download 12Gb of data. The weirdest thing is, Test Server was never affected. I could log in perfectly fine there and not be in streaming. Letting the launcher do what it wants to now, I'll tell you what happens.

I just asked in the test chat channel in game to see if anyone else was having that problem, and found out that someone else and a couple of his guildies crashed and reloaded into streaming around 5:30 PM pacific, which was just about the same time it happened to me.

Just switched over to Test server from the launchpad to see if it was still unaffected (it was, ran fine and not streaming), then tried to switch back to liv (US English in the dropdown) and let the launcher do its thing, but it says "Found 1,264 files to update," but it won't do anything, above the (empty) progress bar it says "Checking 0 files."

EDIT: Restarted the launcher and it's downloading the 12gb again, letting it go for now.

Im stuck in an infinite loop of:

1) launchpad trying to pre-load assets

2) log in

3)something to the effect of "the launchpad has streaming assets, but your game is a full download, would you like to set "full" download"?

4) Yes (game is un-playable in streaming)

5) Please re-start launchpad for this change to take effect

6) Restart.......<back to step 1>

If I try to bypass the launchpad and go straight to EQII.exe Im stuck in a streaming client.
I've had the farcial day of reinstalling the whole game..besides the point that i have the game nicely sat on my hard drive i am o angry about this atm i do have a downlod limit and this may well push me over it,not good enough.

I noticed that even though it says it's downloading into your EverQuest 2 directory. It is actually downloading your game into a new directory. For example for me it's downloading into my public directory that is being shared by 4 other computers......

Network-->Name-PC--->Users---->Public-->Sony Online Entertaiment--->>Ect.. Ect..

It's downloading in another directoy it's not suppose to be! How do we stop it?

Why did the launcher decide to start downloading the entire game to a newdirectory even though it's selected for the program path below? O yea, I called tech supprt and the response I got was, "It's validating your install." LOL... no help..

C:Program Data Sony Online Entertainment Insatlled Games EverQuest 2

How I found this out was I went to EverQuest2.com and downloaded the Free to Play streaming client. I then ran the setup program as admin and I could not pick my Eq2 directory to repair // reinstall. It gave me that screwed up directory name and it would not let me change it to my original directory in the C:Program Data ....EverQuset2..

I guess we just need to give tech support some time to fix the problem. So far in the past hour 3 guild mates are having the same issue. This needs to be put on PRIORITY.

Thanks.

i had this happen. ended up re in stalling it was fine. until yesterday. now getting message of changing it to streaming "yes, no, cancel" . i keep hitting cancel and i am playing. afraid to touch anything. it is not my computer, it is not AV.. sony please fix this

thanks

Same issues here, I was playing EQ as usual today. I just set up for some Zones, I rebooted and when i came back in, I was not prompted about any errors this time, however I went into the Streaming mode. This has happened to quite a few of my guild mates the last few days. Its almost like a virus or something, its hitting people at different times in different situations. For me, the launcher started creating a new folder in C:UsersPublic . So on my normal laptop I checked the files, and sure enough the launcher created a folder C:UsersPublicSonyonlineentertainmenteverquest ...

This just started happening now on this laptop that i am on right now, however this one stops at a certain percentage, around 34 % and will not dowload anymore then that. I checked this C:UsersPublic area and there is still no folder in it for EQII. I have seen a few people state that its AV or something to that effect, however, why would it start tonight, when i playe dall day today, I have been playing trouble free since October. Why did it just hit random people it seems since January. This is obviously a Launcher Error. ?Here is my launcher INI info. Hope it helps. I also attatched a Launcher log. To see if anyone can see any difference from my log in earlier wich basically is the first bit you see, to the last 2 logins where it started Streaming Live. I did nothing more then just reboot and come back to the game. My first logins I was fine, bu the last 2 is where the Streaming started and I could not end it.

[Settings]digestURL=http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/launchpad/lp4/live/lp-eq2-ext.sha.soeappName=EverQuest IIappIcon=EQII.icoid=eq2width=917height=638options =full:0

**** Starting at Mon Feb 27 22:13:56 2012 with version 4.0.0.323 ****[Console] launchpad.js?v=388(37 : CancelTouchTimer()[Console] ?t=26791&options=tcg:1,full:1(724) : OMN Event for visitor None: game_dl_start (event29) [Console] ?t=26791&options=tcg:1,full:1(724) : OMN Event for visitor None: game_dl_start (event9) [Console] ?t=26791&options=tcg:1,full:1(724) : OMN Event for visitor None: game_dl_complete (event31) [Console] ?t=26791&options=tcg:1,full:1(724) : OMN Event for visitor None: game_ready (event32) [Console] ?t=26791&options=tcg:1,full:1(724) : OMN Event for visitor None: eula_shown (event27) [Console] launchpad.js?v=388(37 : CancelTouchTimer()[Console] ?t=26791&options=tcg:1,full:1(724) : OMN Event for visitor None: eula_fetching (event24) [Console] ?t=26791&options=tcg:1,full:1(724) : OMN Event for visitor None: eula_accepted (event2 [Console] launchpad.js?v=388(583) : [*******] lpPrepareForLaunch: [object Object][Console] launchpad.js?v=388(714) : in lpHandleUnAuthLogin[Console] launchpad.js?v=388(37 : CancelTouchTimer()[Console] ?t=26791&options=tcg:1,full:1(724) : OMN Event for visitor None: login_complete (event23) [Console] ?t=26791&options=tcg:1,full:1(724) : OMN Event for visitor None: game_launching (event33) **** Starting at Mon Feb 27 23:07:47 2012 with version 4.0.0.323 ****[Console] ?t=56414&options=tcg:1,full:1(734) : OMN Event for visitor None: game_dl_start (event29) [Console] ?t=56414&options=tcg:1,full:1(734) : OMN Event for visitor None: game_dl_start (event9) [Console] ?t=56414&options=tcg:1,full:1(734) : OMN Event for visitor None: game_dl_complete (event31) [Console] ?t=56414&options=tcg:1,full:1(734) : OMN Event for visitor None: game_ready (event32) **** Starting at Mon Feb 27 23:13:26 2012 with version 4.0.0.323 ****[Console] ?t=99557&options=full:0(730) : OMN Event for visitor None: game_dl_start (event29) [Console] ?t=99557&options=full:0(730) : OMN Event for visitor None: game_dl_start (event9) [Console] ?t=99557&options=full:0(730) : OMN Event for visitor None: game_dl_complete (event31) [Console] ?t=99557&options=full:0(730) : OMN Event for visitor None: game_ready (event32) [Console] ?t=99557&options=full:0(730) : OMN Event for visitor None: view_options (event10)

Because that's what it is - a tiny issue. Until you start canceling accounts they will not even blink at this.

I have the same problem ofc, but I already canceled my sub. For now I can bypass the launcher using Everquest2.exe, but as soon as I start the game through the launcher it starts the streaming crap. I even let it stream the entire game while playing once and yet it started over the next time I started the game. So right now all we can do is to stick with the crappy streaming or not play at all. Imo there are enough other fun games out there with way less bugs to bother with this one.

i am still having issues, not yet resolved totally, but i use the "live chat" feature. wait time is reasonable. it is available 10 to 7PM PST. try it.

Well, my fix was a clean re-install. Uninstall->registry cleanup->Install EQ2_full->all night download.

We're continuing to look in to this but to avoid confusion I'm going to lock this thread up in favor of the one we've got going on general tech. Be sure to post any info you have/watch for updates in this thread:

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=514292
