I'm not buying nothing. I don't care what little promo gimmicks you all try to pull now. This splitting of the playerbase has really left a bad, foul and disgusting taste in my mouth.

Dear SoE:

Don't waste your time e-mailing me trying to get me to buy things. It is amazing how far this game has turned south from a content and professional standpoint in the last two years, and sending me e-mails wanting me to buy extra Station Cash or having "special" sales is sophomoric at best.

How about e-mailing me a reason to log in and PLAY THE GAME? I didn't get an e-mail about the double XP, what happened there? What's that? Double XP doesn't get you any extra money in your pocket? Of course!

I hate being negative about EQ2, but the fact is this game is like a baby that needs it's diaper changed but no one cares to do it.

I've been on a mission today to actually find a Gamestop that sells these cards. My local store's manager is ticked off that he wasn't informed of any promotion, stated he just restocked his card kiosk, and there is not a single, aka zero, SOE product card in it. So now, I've challenged five GameStop store managers, who've been very cooperative, to find me one of these cards. Honestly, if they can't sell the product in the time-frame of the promotion, they will understandably be angry as managers, and both SOE and GameStop should be, since they've lost out on a sale.

That's interseting, usually it's the Alaskan Game Stops near me that don't have them. I went to a Game Stop last night and there was a shiny new stand-up selling game time cards of all types. The back of the cards are set up to be activated on Game Stop's system, so any card you purchase there *should* work.

As for why SOE does promotions like this? It's one of the ways they convince stores to carry their cards, with exclusive promotions.

I believe all the questions have been answered here, but just to reiterate, this promotion is only for cards from GameStop. Yes, there's a difference in cards. We have also recently had promotions with CVS and Walgreens as well, exclusive to those stores. The best way to tell if a store near you is participating is to call and see if they carry the cards. I am not aware of how managers find out about promotions from their corporate side, so if they are not participating, expressing your interest will let them know and they can consider carrying the cards in their store. SOE has no bearing over which stores participate.

Hey folks,

We certainly understand that not everyone has any particular retailer available to them and it's one of those things where we try to spread the love around a bit. Some promotions will feature retailer x, others will feature retailer y. Other promotions might not be tied to a particular retailer at all but be retailer agnostic, and some promotions don't specify payment method at all.

The best answer that we have is that if this promotion isn't your cup of tea for any reason, hopefully the next will meet your needs better. It can be frustrating, especially if there is a particular Marketplace item you have been lusting after (in my case it's a strange addiction to Rhino land mounts for all my Ratonga characters), but we will do our best to have a promotion that works better for you in the future.

As an aside, please do try and keep feedback centralized in appropriate threads. When people start discussing topics unrelated to the Official Thread in question in all sorts of other places it dilutes the feedback and makes it harder to convey when we report on it. Keeping your feedback in the appropriate thread makes your voices more effective not less.

Regards,

-Piestro

Sorry but this is just plain wrong, and unexceptable. Im with the majority of players here where there is no gamestop anywhere that sells the stupid cards. so the message is clear. very few that can get them great. the rest your S.O.L... And SOE could care less.as we have seen by the stupid responces we have been getting (telling us to basical shut up and deal with it) but yet we are listing to your feedback.

Our local GameStop has a bunch of the $10 FreeRealms cards. I picked up a few after work yesterday and it's nice to see the double SC appear.

I purchased several different $10 and $15 denomation game cards from 3 different GameStops in my area and every one of them gave double cash yesterday and today.

GameStops are mostly franchise owned, meaning the owners have a lot of leeway in deciding what games and cards they want to sell. Corporate does not have 100% full control of what their franchises want to sell. Bottom line the franchise owners want to make money.

Regarding what many people believe this wasn't some scheme that the EQ2 staff cooked up to take heat off of them for what they're doing with player base in Europe. It was probably agreed to by various powers to be at both SOE (at the corporate level) and GameStop (at the corporate level) to push more time cards through GameStop in general. One of the franchises in my area even said today they haven't sold as many station cash cards the last 6 months as they have in the past 2 days. It makes sense for the companies to want to work together to get SOE game players to buy more market items in the various games and get GameStop to push as many cards possible they have otherwise been unable to sell. Will Corporate push this information to franchise owners? Of course they will. Will the franchise owners push the same information they have to people working in their stores? Maybe, Maybe not, theres no way to know for sure unless you reach out to all the franchise owners to find out how well communication flows down in their stores.

Regarding what anynamewilldo's post, who has 3 annual station pass accounts with a balance of around 10k on each account said, take it for whats worth, I myself don't read into such with more than a grain of salt. While it's true GameStop customer service at the corporate level may not know about such going on, it doesn't mean that such promotions are going on. GameStop 800 Customer Service number exists for 2 primary reasons. To deal with all the on-line sales transactions and to deal with customers who are ticked off with people who hit the local stores. One of my local GameStops runs a 1 day promotion every month offering an additional 10% cashback on trade-ins thats on top of what you get from them simply geing a GameStop location. I'm certain if I called the 800# they wouldn't know about it and the other 2 GameStops in the area tell me it's how that owner does business.

Think about it, SOE is a nitch market it makes more sense for SOE to advertise it on their website than for GameStop to do such. GameStop as far as I can tell, doesn't even sell Station Cash cards online, so why promote something on their website you're not even going to be able to buy online.

(I haven't heard of any talks about or plans for merging the two.) That being the case, there is no reason why a promotion specifically designed for GameStop would award anything other than face value for a card that was not, in fact, purchased at GameStop.

As far as the promotion is concerned, there could be any number of ways they could determine which cards went to GameStop stores and which didn't. One method would be to ship cards by lot to given businesses. That way, lot numbers 000AAA - 005AAA (hypothetical lot numbers, as I don't know their lot numbering system) could go to GameStop stores, while a different set each could go to CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, etc. There are other ways, but I am too lazy to type even a small portion.

My point, if you wish to call it that, is that there is a system in place to determine which cards are from GameStop, and which aren't. If you didn't buy it at a GameStop, it doesn't count for this promotion.

I suspect that the reason they are making the promotion specific to given store chains is to possibly convince those store chains to start carrying more of the cards in their stores, and also to highlight, one at a time, which store types carry them. I could be wrong, since I don't work for SOE or GameStop. (Or any of the other stores which carry the cards, for that matter.) But, what I have posted above seems the most logical to me.

LOL this move by SOE makes me giggle, kinda like when they promised SWG players FREE ACCESS to SOE games if we resubbed for the final months of SWG but then they made all the dam games F2P anyway so they basically bait and switched scammed us and then wonder why people sued them. I concur with my fellows here though called every gamestop in a 50m radius and none of them heard of this promo, and only 1 out of 16 stores even carried SOE/SC cards. And that store was discontinuing them.... Fail SOE fail on so many levels. I didnt have any issue picking up my SWTOR 60 day card though and there wasnt even a gimmick for that....Just saying

I have a few friends that live in a different town who I just got into playing, and basically the same exact thing happend to them when they went into their Gamestop. So they wont be going gold for a while. They were going to pick up enough cards for a few months of Gold membership, AoD, and DoV. They aren't even sure they want to keep playing EQ2 anymore because of their lack of communication between stores and their promotions.

why exactly does it matter that the employee had no clue about the promotion? Maybe they did nto read the weekly updates that ae sent out by corproate - SOE knows exaclty what cards are sold by what vendor though a identifcation number in the numeric sequence that you enter to claim the cash or activate the game card. The manager / employee on duty at the game stop that I picked mine up at did not even know they had they even carried the cards when I checked out. the only one that is losing out on the promotion is you and your friends.

In Belgium there is no game stop whatsoever and all the other game shops had to hand in the old SOE cards and arent selling anything anymore. That is pretty discriminatory, but i dont care anymore, as things are going EQ2 is burrying themselves already, so im not wasting any more time to even TRY and get a card

When it was credit card only ones, there were people here moaning about having to have a credit card to get double station cash. When it was all cards, people moaned about the fact they couldn't use their credit cards or that there were no cards available immediately for them. This is nothing different. The game card only promotions are more a business move to get more stores to carry the cards that just happens to have side benefit to the players who can find the cards in the stores.

It's not like they don't run all sorts of double SC promotions. You'll get your double cash from a credit card (or whatever it is you want) if you can be patient. I con't see why people are getting so very bent out of shape over it. There's nothing on the market I want so much that I'm going to lose my mind over it if I have to wait a bit (and just to note, I went to my local Gamestop & couldn't find anything but Playstation cards either so didn't get in on the promotion). So I'll just wait until I can use the Wal-Mart, Walgreens or credit card again.

I can say:

Here in Germany (Karlsruhe to be precise) - oh wonder (!) - I had no problem getting the cards and redeeming them for double the SC.

It hasn't been long ago that such things didn't work out well here. Usually because gamestop didn't have and SOE Game Cards.

(Needless to mention I did not use them for EQII but EQ.)
