I received a lot of good feedback on my other thread re getting into EQ2. Based on such feedback, I"m getting EQ2 gold + AOD (for mercenaries). Now, I would love to ask some advice for a class.I'm looking for a class that will allow me to start building up my EQ2 account - as I have nothing. So this will need to be a class that can access some content solo. Ultimately, I guess, I'm looking for a character that is good at farming. The classes that have caught my eye:Monk/BruiserShadowknight(though given that a group relies on tank the most, and I don't know any encounters, I am not too excited to tank - though in other MMOs I tank very well)SwashbucklerAssassin(I question the ability of assassin to solo/farm a bit)Coercer/Illusionistor Dirge/Troubadour(It's too difficult to sort out the subtle differences between Coercer vs. Illusionist or Dirge vs. Troubadour, and it's very unclear whether these are good solo/farmers.)Again, the goal is to have a class that will be the "pillar" of the account.

Only the ones in the first group you list are truly good soloers.

The others can, but are more squishy and may need a mercenary to survive in some zones.

Best would be a monk/bruiser, as they can heal themselves some as well as cure status ailmemts, and get powerful attacks. Shadowknight is an excellent soloer from all I have heard, but be prepared. Some of an SK's attacks will cause much visual puking of your enemies. Me, I get tired of that fast with my warlock, but if seeing your enemies throw up green goop a lot does not bother, than a shadow knight is a very good choice.

I've found that my shadowknight and bruiser are both pro at farming -- they can pull a lot of mobs and take them down fast with AoE's, are fairly durable, and very easy to learn and play with little skill.

A coercer/illy is very good at soloing, but will take more skill than the two fighters.

Scouts, I personally find, are tons of fun, but you're going to find it very difficult to farm and solo on a bard compared to the other classes. If you need to go with a scout, I would stick with a swashbuckler or brigand. Assassins rely too much on backstab chains and single targets, IMO, to be really as good at farming than the other two.

edit -- you mentioned getting AoD. If so, seriously consider the beastlord if you want to play extreme easy mode soloer

Many less powerful mobs at once SK is the best. One 24 man raid mob meant for a level 80 either brawler will be best. Current content either a brawler or maybe an inquisitor will be best.

Was sleepy and totally misread that title as "New Angler." Was thinking of a new epic fish mob
