I haven't played EQ2 for more years than I care to mention but I heard somthing about a relaunch of the game or somthing and it reminded me of all the fun I had. So here I am....no idea where to start..begin, go or what to do.

I've got a 34 shaman who is also a 34 weaponsmith, a 33 Berserker and a 20 somthing Templar but I have no clue if I should reroll or try to pick up where I left off or what.

Anyone got any good suggestions about where to go next? Everywhere I go seems empty so I'm guessing most people are higher level or are playing in some expansion area.

Any thoughts at all would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome back!

Ok, I recommend rolling a new character. Levelling is fast and the new starting zones are well done and set you up pretty well.

Choose a high population server - either Freeport or Anotnia Bayle. Avoid the PVP servers unless you're really a PVP addict, as they aren't as heavily populated as the PVE servers.

Choose a class you like and race and go for it, you'll find that there are lots of players around, but the game is so huge they are spread out.

totally agree.. if you really like the old toons you can go back once you relearn the game... if its been as long as you say, the game has drastically changed and rerolling would really be the best option/fun for you.

You might wanna check that out.

Ratongas have become Neutral race, there are Freebloods now (like vampires except uglier IMO) are Neutral as well.

Many classes have become Neutral except for PAL/SK, NEC/CON, SWA/BRI, aaaand .... MYS/DEF. So you can have a bit more race/class combos without having to betray. And Beastlord was brought in recently.

They have something now called the "Golden Path" which you will run into when you start playing in Butcherblock Mountains. So it goes like this ... if I can remember.

Starting City -> BBM -> Steamfont -> Lavastorm -> Sinking Sands -> Tenebrous Tangle -> Kylong Plains -> Sundered Frontier

You can deviate from this path for other quests, but this helps with armor etc. Personally, I find you level waaaay to fast with this.

Lots of other new additions too. I'd suggest rolling a new character and seeing the changes. Sometimes that's easier than trying to play an "old" +year character.

Good luck!
