Are the login servers borked? I've been trying to log in and my name/password + authenticator and it's telling me the name/password are invalid. (Obviously valid because I'm able to log in here....) Is this happening to anyone else?

Having the same problem. Also using an authenticator.

Appears to be DNS-related. auth.station.sony.com was returning MX records but no A or AAAA records. Required a restart of the router nameserver (BIND 9 going directly to the roots) and flushing DNS on the Windows machines ("ipconfig /flushdns") to clear the problem.

Well, my fix for this problem was to log into the EQ2 site, and remove my authenticator from my account.. until this is resolved.. logged in with no problems after that..

oo cool, i tried that but unfort I had probs removing it...kept saying i was typing in wrong code?!?!?!?

edit - aha its working now! would help that the instructions was clearly set out the 1st time round on the accounts page. I had a totally diff set of instructions earlier on how to remove the authenticator (on 1st try earlier i was asked to add in the 6 digit code and then the 10 digit code form the back of it lol, and yes i did click remove authenticator button in the 1st place :p)

I went ahead and disabled the authenticator and sure enough, I was able to log in. I wish I could have done that last night but I wasn't able to connect to the SOE Customer Services site. I didn't try the router reset because my husband was ingame next to me. He had not installed his authenticator on his account and now, probably won't in the future.

These things happen sometimes, I will put mine back on my account, simply because I have worked so hard on my account, and I know even if you are careful about what sites you visit, to avoid keyloggers, sometimes, your account can be taken.. there is nothing worse than your friends calling you and letting you know that someone else is logged in to your level 90 character and doing God knows what with your account..

I feel safer with the Authenticator. I am sure they will get this issue figured out, I am just happy that I can still play in the meantime : )

+1 for having an authenticator and being unable to log into any of my accounts with it attached. I know if I disable it that I'll forget to put it back, and I like the added security on my 2 main accounts. I can log into both of my silver accounts that do not have the authenticator log in just fine. For me it's when i push the play button that it gives me that error, not when I initially enter the information. So something is working properly, just lots of it is not.

What is the ETA on this? Station website indicates maintenance, hence accounts cannot be edited, even to implement the workaround people are suggesting, which should not be necessary. Is this a case of the code generation algorithms being compromised/exposed?

Is this indicative of a bigger issue?

I can't login and I also have an authenticator tied to my account. The authenticator works so well it keeps everybody out!

Beagley wrote:

I now hope that I will be able to re-attach the authenticator when the issue is fixed and that this wasn't a one way only remove.....

EDIT - For punctuation

This is why I am not removing my authenticator, I don't know whether or not it can be tied to the account again. I remember reading about not being able to re-attach an athenticator, but that involved blizzard games.

Do not include any hyphens.*

You have successfully removed the authenticator to your account. You will receive a confirmation e-mail shortly.

You may re-add the SOE Authenticator to your account or another account at any point.

*This is slightly out of date however, you are now required to put in two generated codes to remove your authenticator.

Last post from an SOE rep was yesterday. The problem remains. The "solution" of disabling the authenticator is of course only a workaround. Some kind of update from SOE would be appreciated.

It would be nice to get an official statement as to when this will be fixed, and i find it ironic, that just after they talk about being careful with your account, the authenticators go all buggy, and the only way to play is to remove the authenticator/make your account less secure lol. I couldnt get in last night because of this, and had to suffer through 4 hrs of ddo until work-ugh. Please fix this soon, save me from the drudgery of ddo lol.

Ok, it sounds like we have the authenticator issue resolved.
