I have been experiencing two different critical errors since the server merge from The Bazaar to Freeport. At first they were only happening on the Freeport server, now they happen on all of my characters.

It doesn't matter where I am in game. The errors seem to be happening more often.

I just forgot about it after I once again formatted my C drive and installed Windows Xp up to sp2. Anyway I have conceded and once again installed the sp3 update. I've also re-updated my direct X 9. I've been playing for a long time and want to continue. Thanks again, I'll let you know how it all turns out. Thanks again, Have a great night

It sems to be almost directly related to AoD. Iknow my game ran perfectly before AoD.

Oha nd also http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=506883 yea sorry guys, I'm not messing with my systems internal memory reader just to play the game....I can play SWTOR, Skyrim, and many other games on max. *sigh*

I don't know what operating system you're using but evidently XP sp3 is now the minimum required OS.

Windows XP is the minimum required OS. It just so happens that many broken things in the vanilla release of XP were fixed in 3 released Service Packs. Windows Xp and Windows XP Sp3 is still the same OS but I am pretty sure you want a working OS not a broken one and that's what the Service Packs are for.

Just about everyone on XP has SP3 as it's part of the Windows updates and it is a standard practice to keep your OS up to date. Not keeping up to date leaves you open for security breaches, exploitation, and non or partially functional features that got fixed WITH the service packs. Theres every reason to stay up to date and almost none not to.

So this statement 'I would like to inform you, you will need to have Windows XP Service Pack 3 due to the new requirements of the new LaunchPad. If you do not have this, you will have issues running EverQuest 2 or won't be able to play at all due to not meeting the requirements.' Is not necessarily true.

My operating system wasn't broken as far as I could tell with the sp2 but it was with the sp3 so I just stayed with sp2.

I understand there is a reason for the updates. I understand that it fixes many problems. I also understand that for some unexplained reason my computer had issues with that update. I explained my reason for not doing the update. It's not like I never tried. I also understand that updates too have issues sometimes. I'm not necessarily stupid. A little ditzy sometimes maybe but not stupid. My computer has been running fine for the past year without the sp3 update. And the reason my audio driver is 2005, is because there's not been an update since that I could find. Yes I looked. But now I have updated to XP sp3 and have it set for automatic updates, of which it has done all of the available ones if that is working properly. I've updated my direct x or reinstalled with the newest udate. And if my C drive doesn't crash in the next month or so I'll be extremely happy with the sp3 update. If it does I'll once again have to spend the time starting over, installing all of my programs and all that wonderfully fun stuff. I'd rather be spending that time playing EQ2.

I believe the underlying point here is that your PC may have been running fine, but now it is encountering problems. Furthermore, I have to agree with Joshua in that if your machine is rejecting/having errors with the Service Pack 3 update (which again, I have to point out is industry standard, and has no problems in of itself) there is a bigger issue at work here.

This could be faulty hardware, a bad windows install, corrupt files, bad registry, etc. Feel free to PM me your support ticket incident # so I can have a closer look at your setup... but in the long run we're going to need SP3 installed and running to be able to provide you with effective support.
