I have been unable to find any information on lower tier Hotzones, leading me to believe that there are no lower tier Hotzones in EQ2.

Why not?

EQ has Hotzones for every tier starting at level 20. There is no reason why EQ2 shouldn't have the same.

If I just have overlooked the information, please point me in the right direction. If I am correct in that there are no lower tier Hotzones, either post your agreement or explain what's good for EQ is not good for EQ2 on this subject.

Hotzones in this game are not like hotzones in EQ1. In EQ2 there is no bonus exp to hotzones, just an increased chance to drop loot. They were introduced back in TSO I think, or was it SF? I can't remember now, it's all blurred.

Exp is so fast in this game now I don't personally see why any set of zones would require their exp boosted.

Quoted from the EQ2 Wiki

"A hot zone is a dungeon of Norrath that is selected daily to offer a higher than normal chance of dropping Exquisite chests. Hot zones first became active in game on August 28, 2009 on servers in the European Union and on September 5, 2009 (Labor Day weekend) in the United States. Under normal circumstances there is a single hot zone per day determined by a rotation."

Lower Tier zones have mobs that drop Exquisite Chests, so I'm sure players would enjoy having a higher than normal chance in certain zones at the lower tiers, just like the top tier of players.

The welcome screen lists the HZ for the latest expansion but I'm pretty sure the older HZs are still in rotation too.

It would be nice if the game calendar listed all of that day's HZs, not just the latest expansion's. Or maybe a /hotzone command to list them out in chat.

Hotzone % is not boosted that much imho. I still get nearly the same if not more exquistes in other instances of the same difficulty.

It was argued by a fellow mate that if you run a zone while mobs are yellow it will yield better drops then if you run it at green. I have tried to test this and due to the locks it takes alot of 'time' to get any real data but just from observation I cannot see a difference.

From an engineering standpoint I understand the chests are already determined upon entering the zone (and a GM slipped that out once while helping me with a few things.)

I could easily see how they could implement the level difference vs loot scenario at the creation of the instance but the question is "Do they?" A 'brother' of that system is already in place regarding the checks to see if your getting marks or void shards and the plat in the chests etc...

*shrugs*

I would love to see lower level zones included as a Hotzone.
