Ok,

here's an odd scenerio that NO ONE has been able to help me nail down where the problem is. Now, I didn't really want to bring this here because its likely that its something set on my pc or maybe even my connection but this does relate to playing eq2 among other games.

Here we go...

During idle times I'm standing around or just moving around, I have higher than normal ping times. 150-200 ping (ok for me, this is higher than what I normally see) and during raid fights (yes, raid fights) the ping drops to 80-100 until the fight is done.

I've disabled firewalls on my pc and modem/router, I've tried to do tweaks with windows, I've used various pieces of equipment, even swapped out my ethernet cable, and I still have the same result as before. I've even updated my ethernet card drivers as well, I still can't solve this...

If anyone has had this happen before, please let me know what you did to fix it. I am not really sure where to begin. This has only been happening for a few months, and I've been trying to troubleshoot it for a few months.

Has anyone ever heard of this?

That's the norm for this game. When the servers' CPUs are struggling to keep up, it's network manages to pull impressive lower ping times.. meanwhile, everyone's spells are lagging. I wouldn't worry about it being a problem on your end.

well, I probably would brush this off but if I said this happens when I play other games too would you think its wierd?
