That or the button flat out does nothing.

The only thing I can think of is that it is some sort of UI related issue. Are you using a custom UI or anything of the sort? Can you PM me your character name and server?

guess it is a novel idea. wish ive been playing for years so you could have told me years ago. my free times very limited so im rarely on forums and never on the website.

hooked my old comp back up this morning and looked for the file im missing, located it in the LoN file. checked new comp and found i had not downloaded LoN like i thought i had. downloaded and now petitioning works fine.

as far as mercs,a guildy with the same problem informed me even tho the window says i can recall in 24 hours the command "/merc resume" works.

and yes i use drums ui but never had a problem with mercs untill tuesday. tho it may be a problem with latedst ui update and not the weekly patch.

thanks for the advice of petitioning online ill definatly locate the option and use it in the future

It'd be a lot nicer to have the convenience to petition in game. Why has this been broken for so long?

The original petition window released when the game came out was awesome!

People shouldn't be forced to un-maximize their game, open a web browser, navigate to the support/petition page, and submit a petition. I know for a lot of people (me included) sometimes EQ2 crashes when alt+entering to maximize the game again. Then if you want to check on the petition to see if its been replied to (because seldome you get an actual in game tell) you have to repeat the process. Or keep the browser open in the background (which chugs most people's game down even more).

The way it is, just turns people off from wanting to petition to request help, report bugs, or reporting people.

Mohee wrote:

It'd be a lot nicer to have the convenience to petition in game. Why has this been broken for so long?

Team division. The in-game browser's maintained by the client dev team, who're using a very outdated version of Mozilla (1.3 if I remember right) that doesn't support a lot of the more recent changes in HTML and Javascript. Essentially the browser hasn't been updated since about 2007.

Meanwhile, the petition pages are maintained by the platform team. They've been updating pages to use more modern features of HTML and Javascript, which is great for people using a modern browser. Problem is that they aren't testing with the ancient browser used in the game client, so their updates tend to break the pages. And since they're not a part of the game dev teams, that breakage isn't automatically a high priority for them.

The only thing I know of players can do is to /bug and /feedback the issue regularly, so the problem shows up at the top of the report management gets on game issues. Submitting tickets about the Web site itself might also help. The basic problem is that the team the users see when playing can't fix the problem, and the team that can fix the problem isn't one the users ever see (or probably know exists as a separate entity), so the problem doesn't get fixed until it bubbles up to someone high enough to be responsible for both teams at the same time.

On the topic of timer strangeness with mercenaries:

Anyone else seeing the 5-minute timer to recall mercenary while other players only have a 2-minute timer? Game text even says 2-minute wait but a 5 minute timer counts down.

Bug or undocumented feature?

The /petition still works in Vanguard and I find it easiest to submit from there.

I also can't petition from within game, no custom UI or anything. Also as of yesterday I can't petition through the website either it just redirects back and forth then says the page can't be loaded. Really irritating.

You may want to delete the DrumsUI files completely and reinstall it from scratch. You may have conflicting files.
