In December, I attempted to Gift something to a friend of mine while an item was on sale. Though I am a loyal customer, paying every month, I was told I could not Gift as my account was not yet 30 days old. I submitted a petition.

I was informed there was a bug and that my account did indeed qualify to gift. However, the management was on vacation and no resolution could be reached.

It's been over 30 days from the initial petition.

I am still unable to gift due to insufficient account age.

My petitions have gone unanswered for over 72 hours causing them to shut down.

This is unacceptable.

What does SOE have in the works to correct this?

spend money to spend more money? that authenticator sure is a cash cow for them, isn't it? why can't they just be secure without trying to rip off customers? the whole "non-recurring" are not valid customers is absurd. if you have been paying to play the game for X months, then you should count as a customer. it is not securing anything. it is causing headaches and giving a false impression of security to those who fall for it. there's a work around for you. sub as a recurring subscriber. it will start at the end of your non-recurring sub. you can cancel before it is time to renew (& before you are charged). as long as you are flagged as recurring, you can gift.

if you are a silver acct, then you are S.O.L.. TSR-Joshua has said to send in a TECH TICKET and they will do a work around for transfer tokens but i am not sure if they will do one for gifting.

yes, they ask those questions. it depends on who replies to your ticket. it seems to be one of the "form letter reps" favorite form letters. if you got a rep who is famous for the form letters, then they would definitely ask you for the information bc it is a quick macro or cut/paste for them to reply. that way, they get it off their desk and someone else may even get your response so it is gone from their desk forever.

Zhadowsee and I have talked about this a lot.

Some clarifications:

He is a gold member (All Access, actually, which should count as a gold member), with a recurring subscription. This is why he was originally informed that his account was qualified to gift.

His account is in good standing.

He had the problem over the winter holidays (during the twelve days of Frostfell), which is why he was told that the management was on vacation.

It's been over a month, and even if he weren't flagged as a recurring subscription before, he should be now (despite not canceling his subscription at any point, so he should have been flagged recurring to begin with).

It also seems odd to me that they would say that the fix is only temporary unless he purchases an authenticator. Personally, I won't touch the authenticator. When the come out with an android app version, then I'll download it. Until then, it's too easy for me (and I'm sure other people) to lose the authenticator item. If it were my account, I'd be raising hell (politely of course. I'm a firm believer in catching flies with honey). He is on an account in good standing. He is paying the subscription type listed as being able to gift. He should not have to do something in addition to what he is already doing to gain the ability to gift just like everyone else.

Because they're asking for his info, it seems to me they may be questioning his ownership of the account. It could just be a form letter rep, but the addition of the authenticator requirement makes it seem like they're afraid he's been hacked. Which is ridiculous. Whether or not he's been hacked (and he hasn't), he should not be required to purchase an item in order to obtain services freely offered to everyone else. It should be his choice whether or not he purchases an authenticator, not something he must do in order to be able to gift things to friends.

Keep talking to them, Z, and I hope you get things figured out.

Edit to add:

In the character transfer token thread, Metaphysix posted a transcript from a conversation with TSR Sean F stating that All Access members are having bugs with gifting and character transfer tokens. TSR-JoshuaM later said that they're offering workarounds for All Access members. This was in relation to the character transfer tokens. Shouldn't they be offering workarounds for gifting, too? And not by forcing the All Access members to purchase authenticators.
