Are character lastnames required to be unique?

<p>I would like for two of my toons to have the same last name. One was named back in 2008, but I recently rolled a beastlord who is currently level 38. When I try to assign him the same lastname as my other toon, my main chat window spits back a message stating, "The name you entered is invalid." I have tried several times and made sure the spelling is the same.</p><p>So, are the lastnames required to be unique like the first names?</p>

<p>It could be the last name you picked is controversial and someone "reported" it ... I had that same issue with a pet name .. had it for five years, then someone saw it in the wrong light (for the record my conjy was named Jayne and my pet was named D!ck -- get it? adventures with D!ck and Jayne -- the children's books? Harmless, but someone was offended and reported it) ... I kept the name of my pet until it died and had to resummon -- then got the same message you got and could not rename my pet the same name I'd had for five years previously. My guess is if you ever changed the last name of your older toon, you'd be unable to change it back again .. they put in some kind of filter that won't allow that naming, but haven't gotten around to finding you in game to make you change it.</p><p>Again, having no clue what your last name is, this is only a guess.</p>

They are.</p><p>My warlock's name has been Imora Dal'Syn for 7 years.</p><p>Surname naming policy says that ` and ' are allowed, and have to follow the same general rules that the first name has to.</p><p>I was going to post a link to it, but the website seems to be having issues today. Lots of 500 errors. :/</p>
