Since a week i have sudden lag spikes, the game simply stops the Ping is increasing and either i get kicked to the character screen or i can continue after 10-20 seconds watching the frozen picture on the screen.

In chardok, unrest and other dungeons or instances its the worst but i think its random.

yesterday i logged into Freeport and after 2 mins i got kicked back to the character screen.....

My network is good i can play RIFT and other mmorpgs for hours without problems only EQ2 is affected...

I've had this happen to me too as well recently.

Last night I was at the broker in old SFP and my ping oscillated between 300-700-1200-1500-2300-1500-1200-700-300 in 2s periods. This has happened before and I thought that there was something wrong with the freeport zone so I went into my house and the same thing was going on.

Previously, the last couple of weeks when this happens I log out of the game, relaunch the game, and presto no lag problems.

Last night, I logged out of the game, opened a command prompt and /ping google.com to check my internet ...

Reply from 74.125.225.147: bytes = 32 time=91ms TTL =54

Reply from 74.125.225.147: bytes = 32 time=102ms TTL =54

Reply from 74.125.225.147: bytes = 32 time=60ms TTL =54

Reply from 74.125.225.147: bytes = 32 time=83ms TTL =54

Packets: sent =4 Received=4 lost =0 (0% Loss)

It wasn't my internet connection. I went on over to EQ2players and noticed that my server loading rectangle was fully lit up (Crushbone ~2:30am EST 01/22/12).

Either we need new server hardware, SOE is being hacked, or some people in game are sniffing player packets creating oscillations in apparent internet connection. I just chalked it up to a GM sniffing my packets but if lots of people are experiencing this then SOE ppl need to look into it as the odds are quite low that all of us are getting looked into by GM clients simultaneously.

SOE ppl, btw when this starts it doesn't go away in 30s, it says that way until I log out and relog back in after relaunching the game.

Had this happen once yesterday while I was out in Great Divide (hubby did as well at the same time) but chalked it up to our isp acting up.

Zone server is still a constant crapshoot though.

Im not really complaining but I have noticed some extreme latency in the network as of late.

Due to the influx of f2p etc.. I imagine the reason is not unknown to the team but the fix might be out of budget reach perhaps.

Just add Mega Mercs to sc j/k
