Every now and then, in certain parts of zones ill get disconnected. Currently ive logged in 5 times with the same issue. Ill log back in, usually dead and it wont let me release. Then ill keep trying and it will eventually work. But im too frustrated to continue tonight.

While the above discription is terrible, its the best way I can explain it. What do I need to do to show you what's happening?

Normally when this happens ill just find another zone to level in, but i want to stick to a quest line and finish it.

Ive since logged into another character and dont have the same issue.

I look forward to your reply

Current issue is Barrens Sky. I getting a solid 110ms ping, but i still get DC'd ... I have one day off every 2 weeks in my job while im away. All I want to do is EQ, yet I cant.

Do I need to buy more SC and pay for Customer Service in EQ?

Forgive me, but 7 years of being a Wow subscriber might have me expecting the same high level of customer service from 'across the road'. But if was to sign my life over to EQ2, should I come to expect the zero customer support im getting now?

Shame really, I like the game. Has lots of merit, is quite buggy and this bug in particular is a game breaker for me.

Your F2P model will bring in initial cash and subscribers, but these aren't die hard fans who will put up with all the bugs and annoyances like your original customer base did.

Well im off to a game where I dont consistantly get booted to the character screen.

Cheers for the fun but brief entertainment.

The forums are a great place to get a discussion going but is not intended for guaranteed immediate responses. I have other job duties that need to be tended to and at times I may not be able to make my forum rounds. This is aside from holiday time and my own days off.

For the issue itself, there are several known issues and many client side problems that can lead to this behavior so we need to identify whats going on for you specifically.

Open a support ticket and include MSINFO/DXDIAG and the results to our standard network test which I've included below.

I need you to bring up a run dialog box. You can do this by pressing and holding the Windows key on your keyboard and tapping the R key.

In the box that pops up I need you to type cmd and press Enter (If you're using Windows Vista/7 press ctrl-shift-enter).

This is going to bring up an old “DOS box” don’t worry it’s just text.

You’ll need to type in the following commands one at a time. Remember to put spaces between all the words, unless there’s a special character like / or . in front of the word. Then you’ll want to keep that symbol and the word together.

If you’re having a lot of trouble you can also just copy and paste the text out of this email and into the DOS box.

These commands can take a while to run so please wait for the blinking cursor to appear since you won’t see any output to your screen. For the pathping commands you might even want to go grab some coffee, or a sandwich between lines.

So, all set? Here’s the commands:

   ipconfig /all > c:eq2info.txt

   tracert "your server".everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

          (for example: unrest.everquest2.com, antoniabayle.everquest2.com or

          freeport.everquest2.com)

   pathping "your server".everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

          (for example: unrest.everquest2.com, antoniabayle.everquest2.com or

          freeport.everquest2.com)

If you’re curious what you’re saving for us, try the commands again but without the >’s or the stuff after them. Go ahead, I’ll wait… Pretty confusing huh? Don’t worry I speak gibberish fluently and can translate it for you.

Ok now that you’re done with that, you’ll have a file on your hard drive called “eq2info.txt”. If you go into your hard drive you’ll find it right in the main folder. To get there, just do that Windows key and R trick from earlier, and type C: and press enter. The file will be in there. Just send that file into me, I’ll translate it and figure out what happened to your connection, then I’ll let you know. No worries it’ll be pretty painless, but we might need you to contact another company if it’s not something on your computer that’s doing this.

Thank you for your reply.

How do I open up a Support Ticket?

Also I sent you a copy of my IPconfig, Tracert and pathping on the 17/01/2012.

Ill redo it and the dxdiag / msinfo when I figure out how to open a ticket.

Sorry for the minor rant, but you know full well how gamer nerds are

There are a number of ways to get there. This post has a complete summary. You want the 'In Game Help' part. It shows the link to use and the steps to follow.

I sympathize with your wanting to do the quest lines. The release of Sentinel's Fate some time back added some really awesome solo quests to the Overrealm. If you're in the Barren Sky, you're in the middle somewhere. I wouldn't want to stop.
