when i launch the game and I'M not USING the Streaming launcher i am using the download all as I have been since I did a clean install after AoD went live. could that be why I keep getting the memory error pop up saying I"m using to much memory it is streaming instead of being all downloaded like it is supposed to? and I can't even use a Tier 1 guild hall? without my toon getting stuck? you broke somethign else with the last patch after breaking the performance to making it lag city when you patched AoD in. at least before the last patch I was able to get out of the guild halland not have a character stuck there.

Yes I"m frustrated for the past 2 years thank so a friend of mine I"ve been able to enjoy EQ2 and my all my guilds(yes plural) amenities and now I am afraid to go back into the guild halls I am back to where I was when I had an older machine not being able to use the guild hall.

Please post your DXDIAG information. We'll run through a few things together. I've already reported the issue itself as high up as it can go so let's just run through some steps in the meantime.

Not sure what the reference to memory leaks means, this isn't a memory leak. Hard drive space is not memory. RAM and video memory is memory. You didn't mention any memory errors, just 14gb of hard drive storage space being repeated, unrecoverable errors (which are general and typically do not include an indication as to why it reached an unrecoverable error), and being booted to character select. None of these are indicative of a memory leak. I asked if you received out of memory errors and you responded with just the unrecoverable errors and being sent back to C-select.

Any other memory related popups would be separate from those particular issues and we can address the memory portion individually.

On a Windows XP system with 2GB of memory, keeping in mind Windows won't allow EQII to use more than 1.5-2GB of virtual memory period while Windows and any other background applications also consume that memory. You may literally be running out of memory. What's definitely changed from prior to the expansion is the memory footprint of the game. There are bugs being worked out but it will not eliminate the client side portion of what contributes to running out of memory. Expect a great deal of improvement with our patches aimed towards optimizing memory management but we're quickly approaching a simple 32bit OS limitation of which there will be no recourse once we cross the actual threshold.

There are other ways to reduce memory consumption such as the Graphics/Lighting Resolution slider bars under the Display Options after clicking the Advanced button. The Extreme Performance preset is not a completely tuned down game, there are more options you can further reduce to better manage memory as well.

This is just a few ways you can help the situation while we work on what we can on our end that contributes to these problems.

We have a great deal of internal discussions going on about the memory errors specifically and are doing what we can to improve the situation. In the meantime I do recommend staying away from highly decorated guild halls because the issue is not currently resolved and you can end up getting stuck.

One thing to remember is that any change to an application can cause memory problems with or without bugs being involved, at least bugs in the application. With 2GB of RAM, you pretty much have the minimum needed to reliably run programs like EQII. You have a good graphics card, but it has limited video memory, so the card is going to be constantly trying to borrow system memory to store those pretty graphics. With only 2GB of RAM, you're going to keep the Windows Virtual Memory Manager extremely busy saving stuff to disk. From my perspective, many memory errors reported here seem to boil down to the Windows VM Manager having a nervous breakdown and not being able to handle requests in time. From direct experience I can say that an application can crash for no better reason.

I also know from direct experience that adding some RAM to a system can have a drastic effect on performance in situations like this. I can't tell from the dxdiaginfo whether your system can support more RAM, but if it were my system, I'd upgrade that.

Ugh. I was hoping for better news. But if 2GB is all the motherboard will take, then you do have to work with what you have.

My laptop has 3GB RAM, but I can still see memory-related issues. One thing I did to work around that is to create a separate user account that runs a pretty stripped down environment. I made sure that nothing loads that doesn't absolutely have to. Desktop eye candy is set to none. Nothing goes online automatically to check anything. It's homely, but it runs EQII better than the login with all the productivity and convenience goodies. Yes, it's sort of a nuisance to have to log in to one use or the other depending on what I want to do, but it lets me keep playing EQII on an aging machine. At that point, even little bits of memory make a difference.
